Entangled Heart

CHAPTER ONE The sunlight peeking into the room through the french windows, the strange looking room decor and the well built,bronze skinned man lying beside Ava told her everything that she had done the night before. A tear of remorse rolled down her cheeks but she hurriedly cleaned them, not wanting to alert the person beside her that she was already awake but unfortunately, her partner was already awake and he stared slowly, a yawn escaping his mouth. “What the f**k!” Nathaniel cursed immediately, his eyes flipped open and he saw a naked Ava beside him. There was a sharp pain in his head and he winced, holding his forehead in his palms. Memories washed through his head like a movie being played slowly on a projector for an audience. Nathaniel's eyes widened when he realized what he had done, he had committed the greatest sin a man would ever do. A DAY BEFORE “This is definitely superb,” Ava said excitedly, a grin on her face as she watched the heat-inducing decorations that had just been finished being put up by the decorators. Joseph, her fiance who had just walked into the room, plastered a kiss on her lips making her squeal “you're back already darling…I thought you won't be able to make it” Ava said, hugging him tightly. “It's our mini day, of course I have to be here to support you” Joseph said “guess what?” Joseph whispered into her ears. “You know I'm not good at that” Ava said with furrowed brows, thinking hard. “My cousin is here,” Joseph said. Ava's eyes widened and she opened her mouth in shock, “really! The one you have always been talking about?” Ava asked . Joseph nodded his head signifying that she was correct. Today was their bachelorette/ bachelors party , something they had been looking forward to for a very long time as it signified one more step to achieving their goal of being together forever. Ava leaned into his arms and flashed a huge smile at him “I'm so happy Joseph, you just don't know how glad I am” She said in a soft tone. Joseph smiled back at her and hugged her tighter “me too, I can't wait anymore” Joseph breathed out. The guests, which consisted mostly of Ava's friends and some of Joseph's friends, began to arrive one by one with presents , drinks and others in their hands and by 9pm the party officially started. “Oh my God ! I can't believe that you are the Nathaniel, Joseph always talks about , you are welcome” Ava gushed immediately she sighted the silky black haired young man that was still dressed in a black suit and was obviously just coming back from his workplace. Nathaniel gave a small smile to his cousin in-law, he didn't want to attend this party as he felt that it was a waste of time but on seeing the picture of the girl who was his supposed cousin in-law, he decided to come. “Glad to meet you Ava, I'm Nathaniel Clinton” Nathaniel greeted with his usual flirty and energetic smile. They shook hands energetically and Ava led him into the house,she saw Joseph making his way towards them, two glasses of wine in his hands. Ava rushed towards him and gave him a peck on his cheek “Your cousin is here” she said into his ears. Joseph nodded and handed a glass of wine to Nathaniel. The two cousins greeted each other with a smile on their faces. “I'm coming darling…let me go check up on the chefs in the kitchen” Ava said , strutting away but not without plastering another kiss on Joseph's lips. Nathaniel scrunched his face, almost wincing at the pure display of affection in front of him. After Ava left, there was an uncomfortable silence around the two of them. “I thought you won't be able to come since you are busy with company affairs” Joseph said, he was the first person to break the silence. Nathaniel swirled the wine lazily, the lights in the room reflecting on the red wine glass, giving it a mysterious and enchanting feeling. “The old man insisted, plus the fact that your bride to be is such a beauty” Nathaniel said with a cheeky grin. Joseph gritted his teeth and glared at him, “You should keep your dirty fingers away from her, she isn't like those w****s you usually toy with”. Nathaniel chuckled slowly, a mischievous glint in his eyes “and how do you know that, we can never tell until we check it out…anyways, happy bachelorette…or whatever you call it” Nathaniel said, patting Joseph's shoulders before walking off, still holding the glass of wine in his hands. Joseph stared at the tall figure, a hidden look in his eyes. ©© “I never believed that one day,we would actually achieve our dreams and be together forever. Thank you Ava Calvin for being with me, putting up with my imperfections and holding me by your hands. I just want to say this to you Ava… I love you and I can't wait to be with you forever” There was a holler from the crowd and scattered applause rang around. With a small smile on her lips, Ava cleaned the tears on her cheeks, while staring at Joseph, her eyes filled with love. Joseph got down from the stage and walked towards Ava, he knelt down on one knee, bringing out a ring from his breast pocket “I know that I already proposed to you but now I want to do it again,in this place filled with everyone we know and cherish ... .Ava Calvin…will you marry me?” He stared at Ava, his eyes filled with love and eagerness. Ava nodded her head, her eyes glimmering with tears Joseph slided the ring into her fingers amidst the claps from the crowd. Nathaniel watched from one corner, his eyes glinting strangely against the light of the room. He swirled the wine in the glass and took a sip of the wine, his eyes darkening strangely.
