CHAPTER4

Mrs. Williams dashes across the stairs; hurriedly, she heads for Bianca’s room. It was finally the day to have dinner at the Smiths' mansion. She had to make sure everything and everyone was at their best, from Bianca’s dress to her hair and makeup, down to hers and Mr. Williams's. Everything had to be perfect…….“Everyone must look their best this evening; we have to prove to them that we are indeed deserving of this position,” she said to herself as she took paces across the stairs. Getting to Bianca’s room, she was shocked to discover that nothing had been done. She found Bianca peacefully taking a siesta. “Bianca!! Bianca!!” she called out…. “What on earth are you doing?! Do you not know what today is?” Mrs. Williams asked. “You are meeting your fiancé and his family. Didn't Courtney deliver your clothes? I asked her to drop them off hours ago!” “It’s over there…,” Bianca moaned, with drowsy eyes. “She dropped it already,” she added. “Get out of bed and get dressed this minute! Your father mustn’t know you’re having a siesta, today of all days, Bianca! A siesta!!” her mother screamed. “Mum, it’s just dinner for Christ's sake,” Bianca said. “It is still midday; we will surely get there on time. Don’t worry!” she added. “You are meeting your future family for the first time,” Mrs. Williams said. “You have to make a first impression. Punctuality should be top on the list; we wouldn’t want to keep them waiting,” she added. “Oh goodness!” Bianca thought silently to herself. She wasn’t looking forward to this visit, but no matter the act she put up, she would be meeting her new family today. Heaving a sigh, she reluctantly got up to take a look at her dress. “Mum, this isn’t the dress I asked for! I can’t put this on!” she said. “Oh, you most certainly will!” Mrs. Williams said. “It’s just dinner! Mum, this is too much to wear!” Bianca replied. “Silly girl! Why so ungrateful and unreasonable?” her mother snapped. “Do you even realize who you are becoming? The wife of Liam Smith! The influential billionaire Fredrick’s son. You have to live the part, and it starts now,” Mrs. Williams added. “Why don’t I get to be me?” Bianca asked, wondering why her entire life had to be based on stupid rules. “Why don’t I get to do things my way, even now? You, Dad, and Mr. Fredrick get to plan the wedding, and I don’t even have any say. I don't even get to choose a dress, not even my own wedding dress…” she added. “Bianca, this isn’t the time for this!” her mother snapped. Almost immediately, Courtney, the domestic staff, walked in. “Madam, Mr. Williams sends for you immediately. The chauffeur sent by the Smiths to pick you all up is here.” “Oh my! Did you hear that, Bianca?” Mrs. Williams exclaimed. Turning to Courtney, she said, “You can leave; tell my husband I’ll be with him shortly. I have got a few things to tidy up here.” “Yes, Madam,” Courtney replied, leaving to quickly deliver the message. Bianca watched enviously, as Courtney walked away, wishing they could switch lives. Courtney was just a few years older than she was, and although orphaned and very poor, she seemed to have her life under her control, something Bianca longed for! “Now get in the bathroom and run yourself a nice bath…” Mrs. Williams said sharply to Bianca, interrupting her thoughts. “Your father mustn’t know you aren’t ready. He would be livid! I added a couple of body washes and ointments in there; make sure to apply all. I need Liam to compliment your cologne. As I said earlier, we mustn’t leave anything to chance.” “Yes, Mum,” Bianca said sadly, reluctantly walking into the bathroom. “I’ll be back in a jiffy. I want you in your clothes by the time I get back,” her mother said. “Yes, Mum,” Bianca replied. Bianca watched as her mother left the room, and immediately different thoughts began to fly into her head—thoughts of just deserting everyone and absconding away to live her life just as she desired. She thought of how this would shatter her mother and how livid her father would be! Oh, she couldn’t afford to get her father annoyed. Eventually accepting her fate, she strolled reluctantly to the bathroom, unclothed herself, and instantaneously applied the washes and soaps her mother brought earlier. As she lathered the soaps onto every part of her skin, she savored its scents. Now smiling, she imagined all the work her mother and Courtney had put in to ensure she appeared perfect before the Smiths. The least she could do was to be less imposing, she thought… Mrs. Williams rushed downstairs to meet her husband, all dressed up. “You still aren’t dressed, love?!” he asked sharply. “Where is Bianca?” he asked again, scanning through the stairs, hoping to see her dash in any second. “Will, dear, Bianca is getting dressed; she will be down here any minute,” Mrs. Williams replied. “The chauffeur from the Smiths has arrived. We shouldn't keep him waiting too long, dear!” Williams said, reaching for his wife’s hands. Now holding her hands, he added, “I hope Bianca isn’t having a rethink or perhaps cold feet, as you ladies call it,” he giggled. “Nothing must go wrong today. Marriage with the billionaire is the best thing that could ever happen to us. I hope you made her see how important this whole arrangement is to us? We can’t afford to mess things up, especially this evening’s occasion,” he said firmly. “I understand everything you just said, dear, and Bianca understands also. Do not fret; I have everything under control,” Mrs. Williams said, smiling. “I know I can always count on you, my love. Thank you so much,” Williams smiled. “Mum…” Bianca called out, walking down the stairs and interrupting the little lovers' session. She was dressed in a beautiful gold-colored gown made of luxurious satin, with enormous beading embroidered and put together to add elegance and sophistication. This lovely gown hugged her curves like a lover's embrace as she walked steadily down the stairs. Her hair was beautifully styled into a ponytail, complementing her attire. On her legs, she had a firm-fitting silhouette that accentuated her curves as she took those steps, and around her neck was a plunging necklace that highlighted her décolletage. Her parents stood frozen in shock; they couldn’t believe their eyes. “Mum, Dad, I am all set…” she said as she walked up to them. “How do I look?” she quizzed. “Ravishing, extremely beautiful, my girl!” Mr. Williams exclaimed, laughing loudly. “The lad sure won’t get his eyes off you all night,” he said as he winked at Bianca, causing a sense of beautiful shame to envelop her. “Well, now the star of the night is dressed and fully ready, I should go get dressed. We shouldn’t keep our hosts waiting,” Mrs. Williams said, dashing back upstairs.
