Gween Marie Peterson POV
This is the moment! This is the right time for me to leave. I want freedom and God gives me a chance now.
I walked looking for something that I could use to help me get out of the window, whatever it was I didn't care because today was my chance.
Right now Nick is leaving to attend a meeting. Malcolm, Gabriel and Joshua went to accompany him while Alastair and Edmund were monitoring the border.
Del and Jax are in the main castle and doing work. So I'm here alone accompanied only by the servants and guards.
Ten minutes ago Lisa was here to get my dirty dinner plate. I told her not to bother me because I wanted to sleep, but in reality I was trying to launch my action to escape.
I bit my lower lip because of nervousness and fear that hit me. Nervous because this is the first time I've done something desperate and scared because I didn't know whether this would work or not.
My hands are busy scrambling the cupboard trying to find something or anything that can help me. Unfortunately, the wardrobe that I am currently looking for contains only a pile of white sheets that look expensive.
I ran to the window and saw none of the guards below, then ran to the balcony and found the same thing. I went back in and grabbed the steak knife that I accidentally smuggled from my dinner earlier.
It doesn't have a big effect especially if there are only a group of creatures called werewolf who have super powers, but it doesn't wrong, I hope, right?
I put the steak knife directly into the back pocket of jeans and remove the sheets that wrapped the bed where I slept while here, then I ran back to the cupboard and took out all the white sheets that I found there.
My hands moved deftly binding all the white sheets together. With one breath, I tossed the sheets which had stretched into long ropes from the balcony down.
I made sure that the fabric was quite long and when I was satisfied, I tied the edge of the sheet directly to me on the guardrail. I made sure that everything was safe below.
My eyes closed tightly, trying to gather my strength and determination.
After that I went down the balcony.

A sigh of breath escaped my lips when my legs finally touched the ground safely.
After a pretty hard struggle, I finally got down without the slightest injury. Luckily the wind didn't blow hard tonight and the sheets of the sheets I made were long enough to leave a few meters from the ground.
I made sure there were no guards on patrol and after making sure everything was safe, my feet immediately ran to the back garden that I often went to in the morning and evening.
I was patient and waited for several weeks. Jsut to make everyone believes that I won't run away until they loosen security.
I can also observe the entire mansion whether it's a kitchen or even a guest room.
Now my feet are racing toward a small door hidden in the back garden. How do I know? A few days ago I was walking in the back garden, accidentally I found an old tree that looks so dense leaves and surrounded by wild grass.
I don't know why only that area looks neglected. I slowly walked towards that place. Behind the old tree was a parapet wall covered with pretty thick vines.
My forehead constricted when I caught something odd and that was how I found the small, unused door. I don't know what the function is, but for sure this is the only way for me to escape.
There was no way I could go out through the main gate and allow my plans to fail, as well as the back gate, so it was a miracle that I could find this little door.
I stopped right beside the old tree and walked around it, then my feet stopped in front of a wall full of vines.
I was just about to get rid of the thick plants, when my ears caught the sound of two footsteps and also the conversation of people. I immediately hid behind a tree and closed my mouth so that not a single sound that I made.
My body is so stiff and doesn't dare to move.
After a few minutes there was only tension, finally the sound of footsteps and the conversation faded away and ended in silence.
I breathe freely and return to the door to my freedom. With great difficulty I removed the plants that covered the door.
Occasionally my lips peeled out when my thorns in the plant scratched the skin, but it all paid off when my hand held the old wood which was the door and pushed it slowly.
Instantly the view of the forest welcomed me and my smile just blew.
Finally!
"Miss Gween! Where are you ?!" a scream that sounded not so far entered my sense of hearing.
"Sh*t" I hissed softly. I immediately passed the door and moved my feet towards the forest. I race in a time that is so narrow.
Edmund once told me that a werewolf has a sense of smell and sharp eyesight. They also have strong stamina even seven times that of ordinary people.
Their body temperature is also quite high so that I once thought Joshua was having a fever, but what worries me most when a werewolf changes his form into a four-legged creature like Joshua did.
All human instincts that exist in it are lost and replaced by the instincts of wolves who really love to hunt and chase prey.
I got goosebumps when I saw Joshua's canines are so sharp and deadly. Back then I wasn't something they were after, but now? Surely they smelled my body and chased after me like a prey that is so tempting.
Plus my legs that were not too high were forced to run with all my might.
Unfortunately, I rarely exercise!
That's why, ten minutes later I was out of breath and tired. I wanted to stop, but the shadow of freedom of play in my head until I forced my feet to keep running.
Edmund told me that the eastern border had a small lake that bordered the Royal Pack area with uninhabited forests and that was my goal.
The lake is located approximately six kilometers from the mansion. No problem, so that I can be free, I will do anything.
I heard a howl in the distance and my footsteps race faster. In my heart I prayed that the eastern border would not have guards there or worse, Edmund and Alastair who were waiting for me.
I ran zigzags to be able to outwit them and my legs were getting tired and my energy was gone too. I was out of breath, but I couldn't stop halfway and risked being caught by the guards. I speeded up my back again and slowly smiled again at my lips when I saw the lake Edmund was referring to. It turned out that my direction was right and for the first time I felt proud, but my smile immediately faded when I saw a large wolf standing a few meters in front of me.
His eyes stared at me and the animal displayed its sharp teeth. He growled softly. Give me a warning to stop.
I saw his eyes and the blue eyes that I recognized by Alastair welcomed me.
"I'm so sorry buddy, but I can't stop now," I whispered softly. I know the gray wolf heard because his head was raised and his eyes looked at me sadly.
A low whimper came from the big creature, but he growled again and prepared to attack me. Both of his ears dropped and his eyes turned golden.
One of my hands moved back and reached into my pocket, the wolf ran quickly towards me. He tried to stop me by jumping and wanted to push me to the ground, but I avoided by bowing my head and with one swing I stuck the steak knife I brought into his hind legs.
The wolf roared and howled. His eyes looked at the object that hurt his leg angrily.
He lay on the ground and I gave him a guilty look. "I'm sorry, Alastair. Goodbye" after that I ran back to the lake.
I immediately jumped into the water without undressing and swimming. Luckily I'm good at swimming and the lake isn't too deep.
I slowly swam and dive occasionally so they could not find me.
It took me an hour to get to the other side of the lake and I suggest not trying it at all! So tiring and cold.
If it wasn't for my freedom, I wouldn't have been able to do such reckless things!
My breath rushed and my muscles felt so sore. I lay down on the grass and closed my eyes to rest for a while, but when I heard a howl so loud and had an aura of strength that was so thick my body immediately trembled and I realized that the howl belonged to my soulmate --- Nickolas.
***
It's been almost four hours --- or more, maybe. I walked through the forest.
Hunger, thirsty, tired, plus my body shivering from the cold is a factor that makes my steps feel so heavy.
As far as the eye could see there were only trees and darkness. Dawn is still so far away because the sky is still filled with stars and moons that are occasionally covered by clouds.
I haven't even found a speck of life and I'm on the edge of consciousness.
The weapon I saved was no longer available and I absolutely could not fight if there were wild animals who wanted to pounce on me.
My hair was wet and the water dripped onto my clothes, which until now had not dried. My teeth are chattering and I'm sure my face is so pale.
My feet continue to walk through the forest that holds a million secrets. Danger can come at any time and I can't do anything but try my hardest to fight.
To be honest, remorse slowly emerged in the corners of my mind and cursed at myself for being so careless and not thinking about the worst possible thing that happened when I was in the forest. I was too focused on my freedom to forget the danger that was to be faced.
I wasn't sure I'd be able to go this far and now what I could encourage was a shadow of my freedom.
I can't wait to go back to New York and live my normal life without the frills of a mythical thing.
My feet stepped and continued to step. The incision has filled my feet because there is no base to cover it.
My shoes had slipped off when I was getting ready to swim and stupidly why I didn't tie the rope around my waist.
At least even though it's wet, my feet can be protected from sharp gravels that are scattered everywhere. My breath is getting worse and my eyes are getting heavier.
I looked for a tall tree with roots sticking out of the ground. I sat down on top of it and then closed my eyes, but it did not take long when the growling noise again bothered me. My eyes immediately opened wide and my breath became the only thing I did. Three large-sized wolves stood before me.
They looked at me hungry. Their teeth look sharp so scary and there is drooling.
At that time I was sure that this wolf in front of me wasn't the part of the Royal Pack.
They watched me with their red eyes. The fur that I believed was so thick and beautiful now looks so thin and there are some parts that are not covered with feathers anymore, only skin.
One of the wolves has an elongated scar on his face.
Okay this is a stupid choice Gween! I thought in a panic. I took another breath and smiled awkwardly.
I moved slowly trying not to attract the attention of the three wolves, but they also moved and I swallowed.
"Uhh --- hi, if you understand what I'm saying, I'm just a human who is lost in the forest. So you can go and ignore me. Thank you"
The three wolves looked at each other as if they were communicating with each other.
Then the three looked back at me. The sound of a crack so horrifying welcomed me and I recognized it as the sound of the transformation of a creature named werewolf because I had heard the same sound from Joshua's transformation.
A male figure stands in place of the wolf who was standing in the same place.
The man is not wearing a piece of clothing and his face is adorned with scars. If only he cleaned himself and looked neat, surely he would be a magnet for women.
A wide grin adorned the man's face. "human huh?"
"uhh ---"
"Why don't you run away from the 'human'? If it's true you're only human, why is the typical scent of the Royal Pack attached to your beautiful body huh?"
I blinked not understanding.
The corners of the man's lips became even more attractive until his teeth were clearly displayed. "Didn't think you were part of the Royal Pack huh?" he walked closer, but his steps stopped when my hand grabbed a large stone and showed it.
The man laughed and mocked me, "do you think only with that stone can kill me?" his laugh blared and the two wolves standing on both sides let out a snort.
Their tails move fast and their tongues stick out. When viewed like that, they are no different from dogs that differ only in size.
I shrugged and tried to put a flat face. When in fact I was very scared. "There's no harm in trying. After all, you look like a malnourished man," it seems like my sentence makes him offended because his smile slowly fades and a growling voice slowly comes out of his lips.
"Shut your mouth, b***h!"
"What? If you think I'm going to run scared just bluffing, you guys are really wrong" I muttered pretending to be brave. I know that I'm looking to die, but at least they don't just attack me. The wolf on the left of the man snorted and growled slowly towards me.
I again mocked them with laughter, "you guys are not scary. Instead you look so stupid and ---"
"Shut up!" the man's eyes turned black and with one command "attack!" the two wolves, along with the man who had changed his form again, ran to attack me.
I turned and raced my feet through the forest. My hand is still gripping the sharp pointed stone so tightly.
The sound of screams just came out of my mouth when my back was clawed by the nails of one of the wolves chasing me.
I fell to the ground and grimaced in pain, but it did not last long because my hands were swinging to fight.
The pointy stone I was holding was quite useful because it was able to injure one of them, but one on three was something that was unfair and don't forget, they were wolves and I was only a human.
Then one of them pinned me down and tried to bite my neck, but my hand swung back and stuck the pointy stone into his heart.
Instantly the blood hit my face and body. The wolf above me roared in pain and I pushed its body to the side.
My body trembled because I made the creature near death, but my trauma and fear did not last long because the two creatures that had been silent, attacked me simultaneously. They don't accept if I kill one of their friends.
I was overwhelmed and the wound on my back was bleeding quite heavily. Black dots appeared in my sight and my breathing roared even more.
My head feels spinning and maybe this is the end of everything. One wolf bit my hand until the sound of screams came back from my lips.
More blood flowed from my body and the bite felt again at my feet, but with all my energy I continued to fight. When in the end I was no longer able to fight, my eyes began to close.
The last scene I saw was a big black wolf attacking a wolf that bit my leg, after that there was only dark.
And I accept it with joy.
