A Farewell Gift

I smiled a little and patted the empty part of the bed while watching Josh seriously. He walked over to me and Josh hesitantly sat himself right beside me. His posture looked so tense and occasionally his eyes glanced at the door. He seemed to be looking for a way to escape this conversation, but I wasn't. "Okay, now explain to me about the Werewolf clan, the book I read uses ancient Greek, so I don't understand" Joshua nodded slowly and began to say, "As you heard from the fairy tale, Luna or better known as the Goddess of Artemis is our creator. She is a traveling goddess and is always accompanied by wolves. She loved the wolf even thought of the creature as her own child, but one day one of the wolves who traveled with Artemis rescued the goddess from her nemesis who tried to kill her and sent it to Tartarus. Of course because of the wolf, the Goddess survived. To give an award, the Goddess gave a gift of great strength and the ability to transform into humans. The creature was the first leader of the werewolf clan --- the Lycanthrope. He was known to be so great and invincible that all the other wolves appointed him as the king. That is the origin of the royal family. For other wolves, those who provide support to the first King, are also given the ability to turn into humans by the King through a bite " "OK, I understand. Then, what is the life system? I hear people calling Nickolas as Alpha and you Gamma. Can you tell me?" I asked curiously. "hmm --- so the system adopted by the Werewolf clan is a hierarchy. Alpha is the leader of one group. Okay, the last one is omega. Omega is the lowest caste here. Some groups consider omega to be the weakest defense, so they like to treat omega harshly, but in the Royal Pack --- " I cut the story and asked "wait, the Royal Pack?" "Yes, this pack's name is Royal pack. So here you go, Nickolas is the King of the werewolf clan. You know the origin of the royal family, right?" I nodded my head as I recalled the story earlier, "Well, an Alpha King is an Alpha of alpha that is spread all over the world. He oversees and controls the course of all life in the wrrewolf empire, but even so Nickolas also has his own pack under his direct leadership and Royal Pack is the Pack. Followed by Beta who served as his right hand and then Delta, Gamma --- an Alpha chose Beta, Delta and Gamma from the strongest warrior he trained. After he found the right candidate, an Alpha will do various tests whether the chosen person is able or not. Royal Pack is the strongest pack in the world, like I said before Omega isn't treated badly here because Nickolas always says that everyone has the same position. Be it him, Jax, me, or the omega because he is the most favored and respected King of all waerewolf clans " " What about the elders?" I asked flatly. "okay --- umm for elders, they are the people who have served in the seat of the royal elite, like the former general or former Beta and others. Basically, they do not have the right to interfere in the interests of the kingdom, but there are times when a King will ask for opinions or just listen to the thoughts of elders about a problem that occurs in the kingdom " "You mean, they are like MPs?" "Hmm maybe, but in this case they only give advice for the good of the kingdom. That's it." Joshua said ending his story. He whistled happily and said, "finally I don't need to keep secrets to you anymore" "Is this what you want to say to me Joshua? Regarding the task given by Nickolas to you" "Yes, but for some reason suddenly Nickolas withdrew his words and asked me to keep this a secret until he found the right time." "The right time? Does he think I'm a kid?" I grumbled not like it. "By the way, when did Nickolas say it? I didn't see you touch your cellphone at all." Joshua grinned broadly and tapped his index finger on his temple, "this is what you --- humans --- call telepathy. Cool huh?" Joshua explained in a proud tone that was so obvious. I nodded quickly. Cool, they can talk to each other only through thought. If only I had the same thing --- "Means other people can read our minds" "Not really, in our minds there is a barrier wall and you only need to imagine the wall being lowered if you want to contact someone, or imagine that wall being lifted if you don't want others to know what your thoughts are. Think of it like a radio. You can adjust the volume as you wish and find the channel that suits you" I rounded my mouth to form the perfect 'O' and a thought reappeared in my mind, "if you are not human, that means the only human here is me?" Joshua pursed his lips and nodded. "But why? What is my relationship with this world? I'm just an ordinary assistant manager. There is nothing special about me." "For that, you have to wait for Nickolas to explain it." Joshua looked at me sympathetically. His hand took my hand then patted my hand slowly. He smiled a little and began to move, but I stopped him from leaving. "Tell me Josh, you're the only friend to me. I promise to keep it as secret and pretend I don't know anything. Being Gween, the innocent girl and doesn't know anything. I beg you" I pleaded sadly. I gave him a piteous expression and Joshua seemed to weigh my words. "I'm sorry Gween, but I ----" "Pleaseeeee ..." I pleaded once again, this time with a more pleasing tone and gave him puppy dog eyes that I was good at. Joshua just melted away and returned to his original position. He sighed and ruffled his hair in disgust. "Alright, I'll tell you, but you have to promise not to say anything and pretend you don't know anything in front of other people." "I promise" "Okay, okay ---" Joshua closed his eyes for a moment, then opened again. "Well, in every life, we have a match that is determined by God, right?" he asked seriously. I nodded my head and Josh continued, "just like the beliefs that have existed in society, the Werewolf clan also holds the same view, but in a real sense. Every werewolf must have his own soul mate. They were born in a state that only had a part of the soul and the other part was owned by a couple that had been determined by the Moon Goddess. When they meet they will not think about cheating or anything that can betray their partner because someone who completes their souls will be the companion of life to death. It's a special soulmate. They will live the same life and love each other" "I see, and what does that have to do with me?" I asked carefully. "Turns out it's really hard," Joshua murmured softly. I'm sure he didn't realize that saying that sentence loud enough. Joshua took a breath and said, "You are Nickolas's soulmate" my mouth opened wide at Josh's shocking sentence I snorted in disbelief and Joshua nodded his head quickly in confirmation of his words. "Then the conversation?" "I knew you would asking about that," Josh muttered wearily. "Just say it!" Joshua glanced at the clock on the wall and threw a curse at him. He sighed and said, "I'll tell you the outline. If you become a queen then all the clans in the Supernatural world will look at the werewolf clan in one eye and consider us all weak. For a heir, a legitimate heir can only be born from a legitimate spouse. Like you and Nickolas. They want you to give birth to Nickolas and then return you to your world. The position of the Queen will be filled by the candidates who will be chosen by the elders " "So I'm just a baby machine? Are you crazy? And Nickolas agrees?" "Of course not, no matter how much he avoids you, he cares so much and loves you. You are the oxygen he must breathe every day." "Too classic Josh," I said sarcastically. I remembered something again and lifted the clothes that covered my body, stretching my lower abdomen which was filled with blue and purple. Some areas look red so I grimace a little, "then what's up with this?" "That is ---" Josh muttered in a doubtful tone. He didn't seem to want to say anything or run from this room, but I grabbed his arm so he couldn't run. "Say it Josh!" "That is the result if your soulmate has an intimate relationship with someone else --- in your case it's Nickolas." My eyes filled with tears at Joshua's words. Somehow it feels like my heart is stabbed thousands of times sharp objects and then squeezed and broken into pieces. My body trembled and slowly sobbed out of my lips. I feel sad and confused, confused because I don't know why I can feel this sad and disappointed feeling. "You said a soulmate would not betray their partner, but this? This is what the King is doing that you are proud of! Look! Is this what you call wise? He keeps doing it even though he knows the effect I will get!" I shouted loudly. I began to sob loudly and scream in frustration. "I'm not an item or a machine! I hate it! I hate you all ---" "Gween" a familiar voice filled my ears and I turned to the voice's origin. My body shook violently and my tears did not stop flowing. Instantly Nickolas, who was originally standing on the doorstep, was now right beside me. He sat himself beside me and then his arms wrapped around my body, pulling me into a hug. His hand stroked my exposed arm slowly. He gave a gentle kiss on my temple. My jaw hardened and clenched my fists into his chest. Full of anger, I grabbed his jacket and gave me a sharp look, "don't pretend to care about me, if in fact you don't care," my hiss was full of anger. Nickolas looked at me in shock and his hand stroked my head, trying to calm me down with his touch. Indeed the shock that comes from the touch of his hand makes my body relax a little, but my brain is filled with anger and I really hate a betrayal. I immediately dismissed his hand and stood up. My hand grabbed Nickolas's arm and pulled. The man did nothing. Though he could easily defeat me, but he didn't do it. Several servants who passed by immediately sighed in surprise when they saw Alpha being pushed out. I gave Josh a sharp look and the man without being told to walk straight out. The two men stood in front of the door, staring at me flatly, but I could look back at them no less flat and slam the door right in front of their faces. "I f*****g hate my life now" But a few moments later I realized something, "oh my! I'm dead" *** I walked down the stairs carefully. In my heart I was cursing my strange attitude this afternoon. Why am I acting like that? I don't have any feelings for Nickolas and I don't know that man at all. Okay is this because I'm Nickolas's soulmate? So I reacted like that? Everything is too complicated for me. I inhale and exhale slowly. I slowly walked towards the dining room door. I took another breath and opened the door hoping there was no one at the dinner table, but hope was only hope. My heart pounded when I saw that the table was almost full, not with a stranger's face, but a face that already looked so familiar. All members of the Nickolas elite team sat up straight and stiff. They were busy discussing what it was so seriously. Joshua, Del and Jax sat in chairs facing each other and were seen watching the conversation of the four men who were discussing. While Nickolas, the man sat at the head of the table. His posture looks tense. He sat with his back to the door so that I could not see his expression right now. I stepped into the room and immediately the room turned quiet. The discussion carried out by the men stopped and everyone turned to look at me, except Nickolas. For a few moments there was only silence and I stood slightly uncomfortable. Edmund stood up and took the initiative to approach me. "Gween? I didn't know you would come down" he commented softly. Then Edmund led me to the empty chair at the left end of the dining table. "I don't eat Ed, I just want to go to the kitchen," I muttered, stopping footsteps. Edmund also stopped and looked at me. He gave me a questioning look and I said again, "I already had dinner. I went down just wanting to drink a glass of water." "oh" I wish Edmund didn't know that I'm lying, I pleaded silently. He can't know my real reason. I was trying to avoid Nickolas just because I felt ashamed and guilty. "But sit down first, I want to tell you about Maggie's situation" I pretended to yawn and replied, "tomorrow Ed, I'm sleepy and it's too late for women to eat" "You didn't care about that," Edmund grumbled quietly. I just snorted and walked towards the door across the room. The thought of pasta with garlic bread filled my brain, fortunately I had eaten the food Lisa had given me an hour ago so my stomach wasn't too hungry to make a sound that would expose my lies. *** The next day, even at breakfast the situation was the same as dinner. I was just surprised during my initial arrival here, none of all the men who ate at this dining table. They will eat in the dining hall with the others. Jax once invited me to eat there, but I refused gently with the excuse of not being comfortable in a crowd of strangers. Then why all of a sudden? A servant pulled the chair I used to sit on. He gave me a smile and reluctantly sat on the chair and the other servant put my breakfast on the table. "What about your sleep, Gween?" Joshua asked, opening the conversation. I looked up and looked at Joshua in surprise. "Why do you ask like that? Of course --- oh" I could see Joshua's eyes full of ulterior motives. He asked me whether I was experiencing pain or not. I cleared my throat softly and again said, "You don't want to ask" Joshua shrugged his shoulders and didn't respond. He took another cup of coffee in front of him and returned to speak with Del. I refocused eating my breakfast. "Why didn't you come down for lunch yesterday, Gween? Didn't Lisa tell you?" Jax asked suddenly. "I don't like eating with strangers" I replied casually and in a tone that didn't care. I immediately finished the glass of mango juice provided for me when I felt the sharp gaze emanating from Nickolas's gray eyes. "That's not an option, but an order," Nickolas said sharply. "Luckily I don't mind it right now or you will get a punishment from me because ---" I waved my hand in the air and Nickolas's sentence stopped. His gaze grew sharper and I could see one hand gripping the glass so tightly. Luckily the glass was not broken into pieces. I got up from my chair and took my plate to the kitchen. "You guys are bothering my meal," I muttered so slowly and disappeared behind the kitchen door. Indeed, my behavior has gone too far and is not polite, but I don't want to hear the chatter of Nickolas who is full of threats. It's not my wish to be here anyway. "Stop there, Gween!" Nickolas shouted in a voice so thick with firmness and so strong that my feet stopped automatically. His voice that blared throughout the room made several waiters on standby immediately turned and left. I sighed and turned around. My eyes immediately met with Nickolas and saw him standing with his face flushed with anger. He walked toward me with slow steps calculated. His eyes hypnotized me so that I wouldn't run away and stay in place like a statue. His wide steps and long legs made Nickolas overtake me in such a short amount of time. His gray eyes darkened and my body suddenly shook violently. Is my attitude too much? I asked myself. Nickolas stopped right in front of me and leaned his body slightly so that his eyes could be level with mine. I don't like it when he stands with his body soaring high and straight, enough that he can intimidate me and I'm a little grateful he didn't use it today. "Go back to eating and be a good girl by sitting there sweetly," he said slowly but so sharply. I blinked immediately and immediately I woke up from the magical aura I felt when I was near him. My one eyebrow arched up and looked at him with amused eyes, "who are you? My mother?" I asked in a relaxed tone. Nickolas's jaw hardened and his gaze grew sharper. "Isn't it right? So why would I do what you ordered? Again it's no use for me" Nickolas opened his mouth to say something, but the door to the dining room opened again and a woman so elegant and beautiful walked into the room. Her face like a goddess without using make-up though. Her blond hair was a bit messy and my eyes immediately caught what she was wearing. An oversized white shirt with black leggings. She gave a bright smile and greeted all the men at the dining table. "hi guys" Nobody answered. They all looked at her with disgust and hate. Joshua turned to Nickolas and asked, "You accept the suggestion of elders? Have you discussed it at the Royal Council?" Without taking his eyes off me, he answered "yes. There is nothing wrong with that idea" Edmund kicked off his desk and hissed at Nickolas. "And you have s*x with that woman without feeling even a little guilty?" Nickolas remain silent this time. The woman in question sat at the table I was sitting at and said, "It doesn't hurt, isn't it General? I will be Luna Queen and deserve to serve Alpha King if he wants it" "You've gone too far Nick" Edmund growled and then rose from the dining table. He walked over to me and pulled my arm away. As we stood in the doorway to the kitchen, Edmund said quietly, "I'm so disappointed in you Nick" During the conversation, I did not show any reaction. My face is so flat and my eyes are blank, but inside my heart is so turbulent with such a great disappointment. I feel like I want to curl up in a corner and cry loudly, but I'm trying --- really, I'm trying not to cry right now because my knowledge of their world is still secret and I'm trying to pretend like a stupid woman. But really, it hurts so much. Edmund sat himself in a high-legged chair and buried his face in both palms. For a moment there was only silence, until I murmured softly "Edmund?" "I'm really sorry Gween," he muttered softly. His head looked up and looked at me with a sad and regretful look. "I'm really sorry I took you away. If I had refused, maybe you wouldn't have experienced all this" "What do you mean Ed?" "Don't pretend to be stupid, Gween. I know you already know about the existence of the werewolf" he said flatly emotionless. I was a little surprised to hear his words. "I-I ... I-I don't understand ... I didn't understand what you said" I muttered stuttering and a trembling voice. I was so nervous that I broke into a cold sweat when I stared at Edmund. "Don't lie Gween" I took a deep breath and murmured, "OK, you win. How do you know?" Edmund shrugged his shoulders and gave me a small grin, "It's easy, uhh --- that woman said Luna Queen and your reaction remained flat. I know you, if you don't know what the word means, you will ask, but instead you, You are also staring at the woman with a murderous look. Well that is just an assumption, but when you answer yes, it means my assumption is correct " "Edmund," I hissed angrily. Edmund ignored me and mumbled again, "I lied to Maggie --- my own soul mate if you went to your family's house in London because there was a problem. She just believed in me and I really feel guilty about it. Then now, I'm really sorry Gween " "Never mind Ed, you don't need to feel guilty. This is all God's way, even though I am Nickolas's soulmate, it is not certain that God will allow me to have a future with him." "Are you religious Gween?" Edmund asked curiously. "Not really, but I believe in God," I muttered softly. Edmund nodded and stood up. He patted his pants from the invisible dust and held out his hand to me. "What is this?" "How about we go for a walk? You're not around the city at all right? We can go to the mall or the place you want. This is your first time here. How?" asked Edmund with his trademark grin. He looks younger if he smiles like that and I'm grateful that my best friend has a guy like Edmund. I returned his hand and answered, "sure" **** "I bless you, Ed," I muttered suddenly. Right now we - what I mean by us are me, Edmund, Joshua, and Alastair --- at the zoo in the Royal pack or what humans are known for is the North hills. Edmund, who was watching Joshua and Alastair who were busy looking at animals, immediately turned to me and looked at me with a questioning look, "you mean?" I chuckled in disgust and returned Edmund's gaze. "I bless you if you want to marry Maggie. I'm her best friend and you will definitely ask for my blessing," I said flatly and walked over to two tacky men who had exceeded reasonable limits. Have they never been to a zoo when they were young? Oh yeah, maybe because they have a relative here, please add a sarcastic tone to my sentence. I chuckled annoyed when I saw Joshua and Alastair running toward the lion's den. Surprisingly, they have important positions and great strength in the Supernatural world, but why do they behave like children? No, but like someone whose childhood was unhappy. I didn't expect from the Nickolas's Elite team, I could have a good relationship with these three men. "I haven't even proposed to her yet and you've given me my blessing" "Isn't Maggie your soulmate? So sooner or later you will get married and have children. By the way, how's Maggie, how annoying is it to have a lover, but she is in another hemisphere. Is the soul of a wolf in your body not angry?" Edmund shrugged his shoulders indifferently, "at first he was angry, but we made a deal to let Maggie live her life first. After all, she didn't know my true identity yet." "I see ..." I saw Joshua and Alastair running towards us with bright eyes. There was a soft clicking sound from Edmund and when I looked up he was rolling his eyes in annoyance. "You little kid" my laughter came off just like that. In my heart I can only feel sadness because I will miss this moment and also those who have accompanied me. And this is my farewell gift for them.
