🔥 Prologue
Chapter 0
The gates of the mansion never opened without reason.
And tonight—
they shouldn’t have.
Rain poured relentlessly, soaking the long marble driveway as black cars lined the entrance. No one spoke. No one dared.
Inside, the air was suffocating.
Heavy.
Waiting.
“You’re late.”
The voice echoed through the hall—calm, controlled… but laced with warning.
A figure stepped forward from the shadows.
Water dripped from his hair. His clothes were soaked, but his expression—
unchanged.
Carlos Jassie.
“I didn’t realise I was expected,” he replied coolly.
A sharp silence followed.
Mrs Jade’s gaze hardened.
“You were expected the moment you left.”
From the far end of the hall, Rayn stood still, watching. Not a word. Not a reaction.
Just judgment.
“You disappear for months,” Mr Franklin finally spoke, his voice low and dangerous,
“and return as if nothing follows you.”
Carlos let out a quiet, humourless chuckle.
“Something always follows me.”
And that was the problem.
Because in this family—
mistakes weren’t forgiven.
They were erased.
Some families are rich.
Some are powerful.
And then—
there are families like the Jassies.
The kind that decide who rises…
and who disappears.
