Chapter eight: last day of honeymoon and meeting the public

"This is our last day," i said and prince led me out the house towards the beach. our dinner was set up and there was a bunch of rose in a vase. it was a mix of colored roses which was different but like that. 

"it is and it will be the best last night of our life. when we go home we're going to be busy of course. you'll get used to it over time," the prince says and i was ready. for all the work. for now, i need to relax. and enjoy our time together. 

"so any other plans after dinner. i know you have something planned," i say as i know prince a little by now. he likes to surprise me a lot that's one thing for sure. prince put a smile on his face and he helped me down the rocky steps that led us to our dining set on the beach. 

"you'll see when after were done eating. it's going to be worth it and you might want to live out here." princes say and i was confused but excited. i saw the boat on the dock uncovered and i knew were going to one of the islands. i wonder what show is happening tonight? we made it to the table and the prince pulled out a chair for me. I smiled at this and sit down. prince push my chair in and he went to sit at his own seat. 

"The food looks good," i say and look at the food. prince put a napkin on his lap.i did the same. 

"We have England clam chowder, baked lobster tail, garlic shrimp bacon alfredo. tomorrow for breakfast before we leave i ask the chelf to cook salmon gourmet style for you." the prince said and pointed out the food. they were in there own plates so I and prince can get are own portion. 

"you didn't have to do that but i mean i like my salon thanks to you," i said and then a chelf came out the house carrying a bucket of ice with wine in it. he was carrying wine glasses in his hand. i was shocked by this sight. the prince smiled and the chef made it our way. 

"it's a Stella rosa wine. it's sweet wine and your father told me to go easy on you with the alcohol since it your first time drinking. not sure you're going to like the strong whiskey i drink." the prince says and i raised my eyebrows. the chef made our way and he put the bucket of ice with the wine on the table. he put the wine glasses in front of us. 

"Please enjoy your meal prince, princess. i made this with all my graduates." the chef says and bows. he then grabbed the wine bottle and opened it so easily. he poured our wine in the glasses. 

"your welcome chef gal, I'm glad i hired you. your a good cook and my parents will love you." the prince says as the chef finished pouring our wine. he put the wine back in the ice bucket. the chef bowed again.

"i will cook whatever you like prince, princess. also for the king and queen." the chef says ad he walked away. i looked at prince and prince look back at me.

"you really hired another chef for the castle? is this what your parents been dreaming off?" i questioned ad the prince started to think. the prince then got up from his seat and grabbed my plate starting to put on food on my plate. 

"We don't have a lot of chefs in the castle, we need a real one that a be family to us. he is definite family worthy don't you think?" prince questioned and i nodded as i can see what he means. the castle is pretty big and serves us but when their parties we do need a good cook.

"i love how you're caring about your staff, your a good man William," i say and prince right away chuckled as he started to put stuff in his own plate.  i picked up my fork. I started to eat and man the food was good. 

"i always ben a good man princess. also, we should start talking about serious stuff." the prince says and he finished getting his food. he sat back down and also started to eat. i sighed and was read. I'm married to his family now and i have a bigger responsibility now, same from my dad.  

"Okay, so where do you want to start?" i say and put my fork down slowly. the prince sighed and he now had a serious face. the prince spoke up as i was ready. 

"When we get home, I'll tour you around your office as you have your own work. I'll teach you how to deal with paperwork as it is a little stressful. I'll teach you how i do my work." the prince says and he looked at me the whole time. i nodded and took in the prince's words. 

"alright. that good you're teaching me because school work wasn't hard enough." i jokingly say and the prince nodded as he continuted to eat. i continued to eat but slowly.

"also i want to talk about the work you'll have. you'll be the second person to agree on what rule i put on the paperwork. same for when we transfer things to other countries around us. we have things that other countries don't have but that why were in second in command other than my mother and father." the prince said and I nodded grabbing my wine. i sipped it. 

"Okay, so i can see what rules see fit on the north too. that's a lot to take in but I'll do my best," i say and prince smiled as he did the same. he grabbed his wine and sipped it too. i put my wine down back on the table. 

"it will be hard for you in the beginning but you'll get used to it. that also means we can't see each other often because are going to be working more often. I'll try my best to see you as much as i can. we'll be together for meetups and travels so we still have vacations in someways." i was supirsed but i mean the king, prince's father like to meet people an influence people, the prince is the same. 

"i can do that, anything else i should know?" i questioned and the prince shook his head. 

"that's about it. alright now that is ut there, we should eat and after i have to show you this amazing show.' prince says and i put a smile on my face. i was confused but at the same time i want to see what prince means by 'show'.

"i can't wait," i said and grabbed my wine again. prince grabbed his wine also. 

"cheers to us, I'm glad i waited for you princess. now we're married also the happiest man." i giggle to this and we cheers are wine glasses. we both sipped our wine and i put my wine glass down first before the prince took another one and put this wine glass down. i continued to eat the delicious food as I looked at the view. this is one of a kind dinner I'll have once in a lifetime.

it took us another ten minutes to eat and talk about the travels we'll have. it was a bonding moment which i was glad for. prince and i got up from our seats as we finished half the bottle of wine. the wine was good, the prince wanted to save the rest for tonight when we get back to the vacation house.  we walked to the deck where the boat was. i wonder what island we were going too. 

"i hope you enjoy the show. it wasn't part of my plan but when i found put about this show i knew i had to bring you." the prince said and we made it to the docks. the prince helped me up on the dock by grabbing my hand gently as there was a gap between the grass and dock itself. 

"is it bright? i like neon colors. I'm sure my dad told you that." i say as everything about me is out there. my dad was never the type to keep a secret. mom even said she never told my dad anything because of that. 

"you know your dad is not good with keeping his mouth shut. he tells my father anything about his old days as an alpha. my father used to be an alpha too. they connect very well." the prince says and i nodded as i agreed. my dad is very social is his own ways. we walked to the boat that was uncovered and the prince opened the boat door. i stepped in first of course and the prince steped in second. 

"I'm glad that they connect very well. i was scared that my dad wouldn't be used to royal life. I was living the rich life as is but this royal life is a huge upgrade." i say and prince smile to this. he grew up with the royal life. he knows about having money. the prince sat down at the driver's seat f the boat and he grabbed the keys for the boat from his pocket. i just sat down in one of the comfy leather chairs of the boat and prince stated the boat. 

"my father was the type to keep to himself but now that your father around he has a friend to talk too. my mother always said mt father need a partner in crime and i think he found one. alright, the show is on another island so relax and enjoy the wind. it going to be a sort of long ride." the prince says and i nodded. i wonder what show prince has planed.

"that was a show, fireworks, and parade? the street food was good too." the princess says and i put a smile on my face. we went to the main island and there were some boats cooking up food and i got some food to try. they were actually food. we got back at the house and we just walked back into our room. it was clean from the maids cleaning it while we were gone. i need the room clean for tonight.

"I'm glad you like fireworks, you really love your colors. you're like a child but a cute child i take care to take off," i say and the princess looked offended. she was cute while looking up at the sky with the biggest smile i ever have seen. I'm glad i found ut abut the firework show yesterday as i was doing some research about the other islands for future sake. 

"i am not a child, i just like fireworks. there very different than looking at the normal stary sky. it good that there actually stars here, the north needs fewer lights, to be honest." the princess says and i nodded as i will maybe have a night where all the north will see the stars for once other than in the forest.

"I'll note that, but on the other hand, I'll say that you need to start acting like an adult. you just turned 18 a few months ago so I'm guessing your father told you you will have to act an adult at one point too?" i questioned and the princess nodded. i walked closer to her and put my hands on her arms as the princess crossed her arms over each other. 

"of course but i thought i didn't have to start this soon." princess looked up at me and she had a 'go easy on me' look on her face. i chuckled and moved my hands up teasing princess with my touch on her arm to her shoulder. princess bit her lip and looked away she knew i had an effect on her. 

"as i said before, I'll teach you how to be an adult with the paperwork and other duties you'll be doing. this is a life you sighed up for knowing you're going to marry a prince princess," i say and moved my hand to behind her neck and i put my other hand on princess's back. i pulled the princess closer to my body. 

"i didn't think my duties would be a lot. i thought you're going to be slow on me but i guess not. I'll handle it well as it like school but two times worse. so basically collage." the princess says and i shook my head. i went to a college and the duties she will have are harder but it the same concept. 

"whatever works for you, now that we got that out the way. let's talk about somthing else more important," i say and i cupped the princess's cheek gently. the princess looked at me supirsed as i puller her face closer to mines. i was ready to make my move. she for sure knew what was in my mind.she knew i was going to make my move at one point. 

"i know what your thinking. you know it's the first time for everything for me. i need some time to get used to this William." princess say and i knew that much that's why I'm going slow with the princess. i want the princess to get used to my touch for a reason this whole honeymoon this whole week. 

"We don't have to do this princess if your not ready, we can take our time. i don't mind princess," i say and smiled down at princess. the princess smiled back and she did the unexpected. she leans forward and gave me a peak on m lips. i was shocked by the princess's action. 

"Thanks for understanding. you really know how to treat a lady." the princess said and she smiled as she looked up at me. i scoffed to this and lean in giving princess another peek back. can't believe my princess just kissed me. i usually kiss the princess but she's a shy girl and would never do this kind of thing. 

"i have to treat my lady right especially since your mine." i hugged princess and pulled her close to my body one hundred percent. i took in her scent as i kiss the princess's head. now that she mines she scent was stronger than before i married her. princess giggle and hugged me back. i moved back as the princess looked up and me. i lean in and kissed princess roughly and gentle at the same time. the princess smiled again in between the kiss and she knew I'm not going to be gentle with her anymore at this point.

"welcome home alpha, hope you enjoy your honeymoon. did anything happen that i should know off?" kyle asked as i walked in my office. i just got done showing princess her office and the little paperwork she as to do. i showed her my style of doing paperwork so she should be okay. 

"well no and it stays between me and my new queen," i say and i walked towards my desk woth more paperwork. my dad was planning to drop the king position soon as he is getting old and plus he was waiting for me to marry. my father has been prepping me for my kingly duties. my mother is starting to teaching the princess how to start her queenly duties. 

"so nothing happened? taking it slow i see." kyle said and he walked my way as i sat at my desk chair. i started to organize my paperwork. 

"Princess isn't the player type like me before she found out she was my mate. she just turned 18 a few months back before we met," i say and kyle nodded as he knew that much about me and princess. 

"Are you at least getting princess used to being touched like that. I'm sure she never encountered men other than the asshole she hates that wanted her to be his mate." kyle said and i looked up at kyle confused. kyle looked back at me and right away he put a face as he messed up bad. i put my paper i was holding down on my desk and sighed. 

"what you mean by 'a guy that wanted her to be his mate'?" i questioned and kyle cleared his throat. he was thinking of saying it to me but at the same time, he didn't want to say anything. "kyle, tell me what princess and you were talking about in private." i demanded as i know kyle talks to princess as this was before she has her own work after we got married. 

"um.. i think you should ask princess about it. I'm sure she mentions 'him' in the letters." kyle says and i sighed one more time. kyle combed his hair back with his hand. he looked flustered. 

"Just tell me a few things that i should ask the princess before i go see her at lunch," i say trying to get a head start. kyle looked away from me more flustered and I'll say this. i never saw him like this. kyle tells me everything but this time he's keeping secrets. this is not the kyle i know for a long time. 

"well.." kyle sighed and he looked at me this time ready to say something. "this 'guy' went to high school with her and he wanted her. when she found you you can say he pissed. not sure if he found his true mate." kyle said and i remember reading about that in one of the letters i send to the city for her friends she left behind. 

"I'll ask her about this later but for now can you help me sort out my work? i need this done by tonight," i say and got up as i continue sorting my paperwork. kyle shrugged and he helped me with my paperwork. i should have asked princess about any guys she been seeing or annoying her beforehand.i could have helped her out. 

a few hours with kyles help i got my paperwork done and i went to meet up with the princess at the dining table. kyle went to clean the rest of my mess as i walked out of my office. i had my mindset on questions i have to ask her with this 'guy'. i walked down the stairs and i ran into a butler. 

"can you make sure the dining room is empty. i need to talk to the princess about something important," i say and the butler looked at me surprised. the butler snapped back to reality and he nodded as he headed back down the stairs and back to the dining room. 

(maria ann's perpective) 

the maids and butler left the dining table as i was sitting on one side on the table. my lunch was set up and the prince's lunch was set up too. the prince walked in the room and one thing for sure he had a serious look at is face. i had a bad feeling for some reason. 

"did you enjoy your paperwork? I was told it took you a while to get used too." the prince says and i turn the shade of red. i felt like i was back at school so it took me a while to get used to reading and sighing. 

"it was okay, so i guess you wanted privacy. the maids and butler left the room just now," i say ad the prince sat down in front of me. the prince grabbed his napkin and put it on his lap.

"let eat princess, you must be starving after all the work you been doing." the prince says and i nodded. the prince grabbed his fork first as he started to eat and followed right behind him. i was planning to ask him about sending a mail to my friends again has it been a while and i want to update them what been going on. 

"it is hard for you? i know you definitely got more paperwork then me," i say and the prince nodded as took a bite from his pork. are lunch was simple this time around as it was pork with some souse that was good. there were steamed vegetables on the side as our veggie portion. there was also a cup of water too. it had a lemon in it for flavoring. 

"it is but i mean i had kyle to help me. he's my second-hand partner for a reason but also i can tell he also your partner as well. he tells me that you talk about your life in the city." i looked at prince confused and right away i knew kyle probably said something and the prince was leading up to it. 

"i mean he was raised the same way as me before he found your pack and joined your pack," i say as I and kyle are basically best friends. he keeps me company as the prince did his work before we got married. we do talk a lot about my city life and kyle wants to know about the 'city' life. 

"That's good to hear as i want you to get along with my pack. there's is one thing i want to ask and i know it unexpected. i was talking to kyle and he mentioned that you have a boy from the city that you talk about often. he annoys you and wants you to be his mate. can you tell me about that 'guy'." the prince says and i froze in place. i wanted to keep ken out the picture until i was ready to tell the prince myself. 

"well this guy is back in the city and I'm not sure if he found his mate yet. i have to get an update from my friends from the city. i knew 'ken' which is his name in the time of high school. he should be a problem now William." i say trying to defuse the thinking in the prince's head. 

"so he hasn't reached out to you in a while? i mean at least your friends are updating you. let me guess he made moves on you in high school?" the prince questioned and i out my fork down and sighed. here we go again. 

"he just put his arm around.m y shoulders and but never kissed me or anything like that. he tried to clam me but looks like he was too late on that part. he saw that you kissed me first to clam me on tv at least that what my frinds told me." i say and the prince smiled a little now knowing ken did clam me at all when he had a chance. from reading all the books about werewolves. the first alpha to kiss an unknown mate will clam them and ken was alpha at the time and even now he is an alpha. 

"i hope he won't be a problem if he shows up and you recognize him, tell me. there no ways I'm letting anyone steal you away from me. more like kidnap you away from me. it happens, princess." the prince says and i nodded. 

"can i send my frinds a mail so i can see the updates in the city. i miss them and see about ken if possible," i say and the prince smiled as he nodded. thank goodness, i want to use my phone but my phone died on me and plus left my charger at my house back in the city. only if I can ask my mom to mail it but she would say to move back if I want it. 

"of course, I'll have that set up after our lunch. other then that i should tell you that we have a meeting with the public in two days. i have fitting ready for you tomorrow so we'll find the perfect outfit for you. I'll have to do fitting too so your not alone." the prince says as my stomach falls. great, my first public questioning basically. 

"noted, are we in sperate rooms?" i questioned continuing to eat. the prince nodded and as he continuted to eat. this is going to be a fun welcome home week.

"princess it's time to get ready," rein said as we walked in the big room. there was a dress that was fitted for me yesterday. it was a basic tight red dress so it was a modern dress, not a victorian dress. i took a shower beforehand so i should be freshened up. i got a fresh hair cut with my hair mid-back length. it was waist-length and rein wanted the har cut to be a surprise including my outfit for today.

"I'm ready, will this take a long time? we came here pretty early," i say and rein smiled as she walked up to me. i know she been here before when she got married to Richard.

"yes may, you want to look good for the conference. you'll be in front of the camera as they ask questions. one thing i recommend is to say nothing unless the prince signals you to do so. it better for the man to speak up." rein says and she grabbed my arm leading me to the chair for my hair and makeup. 

"Alright, I'll keep that noted. i say and looked forward. it took them almost an hour for me to get my hair ready and my makeup is done. my make up was a little extra but it was needed. my hair was curly and put in a small half-bun.  my high cheeks were showing off that's one thing for sure. 

"Are you ladies ready? prince is ready waiting for his lady," Richard said and rein shook her head as she fixed my dress a little. she then gestured me to go outside and i just started to walk to the door. i felt nervous knowing the prince can't keep his hand to himself after seeing me. i made it to the door and open it walking out slowly. i was in heels but they were that high so i can walk easily. i walked out i saw Richard and prince turned around to look at me i knew rein was right behind me as she put her hand on my shoulder. 

"Hello, honey was ready. let's go. the public is waiting for our son and daughter." rein said as i was part of the family. the prince snapped back to reality and he cleared his throat while walking at me. 

"let's go, princess. father, mother we'll be right back." the prince said and he grabbed my hand gently squeezing it. i can see the prince eyeing me as we walk past his parents. Richard nodded as rein went to his side and hugged his arm. 

"you look handsome willam." i say and looked up at the prince and the prince put a smirk on his face. "i should tell you that your mother told me to talk when you signal it. do i have to talk at all?" i say and the prince took in my words. 

"my mother is right, most likey you don't have to talk ut if necessary i will signal you. also, you look sexy, i definitely can't keep my hands off you after this meeting with the public." the prince says and he leans down as he kissed my head. "also when did you get the hair cut? i liked your hair longer." the prince says and he removed his hand from my hand and to my waist to my back. he was felling my back from my hair length. 

"It was your mother's idea and plus my hair can grow back fast. just wait a few months," i say and looked at the prince and we made it the curtains were on the other side was all reporters. the princes sighed and he kissed my head one more time. 

"well i can wait a few months, are you ready. you'll be ambushed with cameras and flashes." the prince says and i nodded. i know about the camera as i been there before at the wedding. it wasn't as bad as today. i can handle it.

"I'm ready when you are, as long your by my side i can handle anything," i say and the prince nodded and he breathed out nervous. i can see he's more nervous then m for some reason. maybe he was scared for me. 

"let's go then, princess." the prince said and we walked out together with the prince's arm around my waist. right away the flash came at me and i can tell prince was used to it nut i wasn't. prince tightens his grip around my waist to comfort me. I'm glad he's by my side.
