It was still dark and black, but I suddenly felt a jolt and another one, and another, then I could hear faint noise, I couldn’t make out what they where saying so I followed the direction on which I thought they where coming from and slowly they started to become clearer, ‘Clear’, what was clear I thought but no sooner I thought it I felt that jolt again, hmmmm, next thing I hear was beep, beep beep and I wonder where it was coming from, then I heard someone say ‘we have a heart beat’. Oh I must be in hospital but I wonder why, I don’t remember what I did to make me be here, then I heard the most beautiful of voices, ‘Is she going to be ok’ all of a sudden my heart sank, I knew that voice and my body went numb something about his voice was wrong in so many ways but I couldn’t quite figure out way.
The doctor said that I was going to be ok, a hand which belonged to the voice touched me, I shuttered under the thought he had laid his hands on me, who did he think he was and then without warning a strange growling voice came through ‘Take you hand off her or I will, its your choice’ she said and strangely I didn’t feel afraid of the voice. ‘You don’t own her’ said the male voice still with his hand on my arm my only thought was neither do you, I did not know who you are but before my thoughts are complete the strange ladies voice came through with a even thicker growl to her voice ‘ I have already asked you once I will not ask you again to get your hand off her, and I will not answer your question’ she said. The man dropped his hand away from me which I was glad he did. Now back into the darkness I fell which was a comfort as I felt no pain, I did not really feel anything.
My eyes were trying to open, and they blinked multiple times so they could adjust to the lighting once they adjusted, I glanced around the room trying to figure out where I was. There were machines to which I was hooked up to and where making beeping noises which now made sense to what I heard when I was in the darkness. My eyes soon fell on an elderly lady sitting in the corner, she was fiddling around in her bag when I did a dry small cough, which made her jump and gave me a small smile. In a instant I reconsidered her as my grammy, her eyes glisten with relief and she got up and walked over to me, grabbing a cup with a straw in it, she must have known I wanted a drink, my mouth was really dry, I took a little sip before she pressed the button for the nurses station. ‘Are you ok hunnie’ Grammy asked in a sweet voice, I just nodded as I knew if I did try to talk it would hurt a lot.
The nurse and a doctor walked in shortly after they examined the machines and checked me over making sure that all was ok, they seemed please that I was awake, they asked if I was able to talk and I shook my head, and they accepted not to push, and said they would be back a bit later to check up on me and that if I felt like eating I could. I thought after they made that statement that I could eat for days anything and everything. With that they where gone and Grammy who was sitting on the edge on my bed asked if I would like anything to eat, I nodded my head yes and with that answer she got up off the bed and took out her phone and texted someone with some details about what I was unsure of.
She came back and sat on the bed ‘Hunnie food will be her shortly ok, I have some sandwiches which I thought would be soft enough for you to eat but keep you full enough to help give you strength’, I smiled a thank you smile at her as I placed my hand on top of hers, she almost burst into tears at the gesture. 10mins or so later a small knock was heard on the door, Grammy got up and went and opened it, there was a smaller elderly lady there with a box of what I could gather was the sandwiches, Grammy thank her and said in a low voice ‘Ill fill you in later’ to my surprise I heard. She shut the door and walked over and went through the box and handed me a delicious looking sandwich which didn’t last too long once in was in my hands. I finished 3 of them and was filling like I should quite while I was ahead.
