Chapter 25 - The Night (1)

1764 Words
Both rulers of Qye are talking with rulers of Suttern at the moment, there is no doubt they are discussing the wedding for tomorrow. Kyzen and Fabin decide to venture into the forest, while Ladon chooses to wander around the hallways of the castle. Meanwhile, Ezana is inside Elleryn's chamber glances around the room with Geneive sitting by the couch looking tired and exhausted.  "Can I be honest with you, sister?" Ezana said, sitting next to Genieve as her finger lightly rubs Genieve's head softly, Genieve sigh with bliss content before closing her eyes. Elleryn turns her attention from the view outside the window and looks at Ezana, allowing her to continue. "I think something is going to happen and I don't like it," she stares at her sister through her thick lashes, feeling shy. As the only person in the family that doesn't have abilities, sometimes she finds it hard to voice her mind in front of her family. However, Elleryn always encourages her to be brave and believe in things she wants to believe, even if other people are against her, convincing her that abilities don't define herself and her personality. Elleryn becomes tense immediately and Ezana notices it, the same reaction she received from her mother. Unlike her mother, Elleryn didn't try to convince her that everything is going to be alright, though she just smiles at her before nodding. "Can you promise me something?" Elleryn whispered, a little bit hard to say the word but she did anyway. Ezana blinks twice before she nods at her, encouraging her to continue. Elleryn takes a deep breath, making sure that there's no one hearing this conversation, not even a spirit. "Whatever happens tomorrow, promise me you will never jump to save anyone, the only thing you will do is stand by the mother's side. Can you promise me that?" Elleryn whispered, staring right at Ezana's beautiful soothing blue eyes. Ezana can't take her eyes off of her, there's something swirling inside her beautiful eyes, something that she can't understand, it was desperation. But, what is it for?   Ezana can assure her by nodding her head.  But she knows she can't promise her that, she can't promise something that defies her personality and identity. And Genieve knows it too.  • • ⊱∘────·❅·────∘⊰ • • The dress lightly fitted through the bodice and flare out at the waist in a triangular fashion, sheer fabrics drape gracefully off the shoulder, light pearl white with beadings around the waist and flow to its edge, Yoani caress the flowy sheer fabrics attached from Elleryn shoulder blade flowing gracefully and reach ground, the floor length dress surely will remain as the most beautiful creation of Fyure for centuries. The stars shine in the night sky, but the dark cloud that covered Elleryn's heart couldn't be washed away, even by the beautiful dress that she happens to wear. Her face just shows it all, she is worried. Yoani recognized it, but she can’t ask a thing, afraid that Elleryn would only turn more sullen and worried. Yoani knows it's something to do with the impending Wedding night that will come by within minutes. Yoani knows, but she could only silence herself. Elleryn takes a deep breath, she raises her head and stands from the couch, determination filled her eyes, the thing Elleryn would need in this castle from now on. The Ceremony Hall will be filled with Royal Family both from Qye’s and Suttern’s, citizens of the two kingdoms, as well as a few important figures from different countries that will witness the wedding and announce it to their countries. Symbols that both countries are united and others should be wary of them, igniting fear upon someone else was a way to put them in their place. That’s what Suttern has believed all along and will always pass on until the next generation. Elleryn's step was slow but was loud through the hallway, no one could be seen, because everyone would be buzzing inside the Ceremony Hall. Elleryn stops in the middle of the hallway, raising her face and looking at the sky. She whispers her wish towards the sky, hoping once again, no one will get hurt before she takes her next step.  • • ⊱∘────·❅·────∘⊰ • • Xalen walks through the street, the crowds were full of laughter and shouts of happiness, celebrating another union of the two powerful families. Xalen is the only one who does not celebrate though. He was furious, not towards her, but to himself. How could he let her leave Qye just like that, not even prevent her from getting inside the carriage that time, now he must witness everything that he wants to tear apart. The marriage. Things have been hard for Xalen, the time when he had to run away from this place, bruised and scarred by his own people to be discovered and welcomed by his enemy. He had lived throughout those years believing that his life will be devoted to Qye’s only, training himself and keeping his health intact to protect the Qye’s. But he can’t keep the dearest to himself, he can’t protect her from cruel decisions that had bestowed upon her life before she was even born. He can’t free her. And he feels like a failure. That's why the minute Elleryn must leave Qye, he asked the King to assign him outside Qye, overseeing the borders, far away and be distracted from this very celebration of confinement for Elleryn’s life. But he is here now. He can’t after all, staying away from the girl that had helped keep him alive all these years. Giving him reasons to live, and trying to see the good even from their own enemy, the Royal Family Xalen believes Elleryn loathed as well. The Suttern. As the General of Qye, of course, Xalen can get through the palace gate and meet her. This time, not leaving her side.  • • ⊱∘────·❅·────∘⊰ • • Her step was cutting through the silent night, but she can hear the whisper of hope from the spirit. The encouraging words of little animals and a light sheer strength from the wind probably sent from unknown creatures. All for her and she could only smile in appreciation. From afar, she could catch a familiar figure she happens to like by day. He stands with a confident stance that suits him well that night, the dark blue Royal suit he wears somehow seems glowing in the night, drawing her near towards him, she knows he notices her presence. But he still faces the closed double door in front of him that would lead the two of them to the Ceremony Hall. Only when she stands right beside him did his posture become tense, Elleryn just takes a deep breath to calm down. It’s not his fault.                       She remembers the time when a girl spirit comes running to her room the day when Rydan stares at her with distaste and ignorance radiating off him, the time the girl spills all the secrets she happens to witness and hear with clarity. She defends the Crown Prince and Elleryn was flustered at that time, to find a spirit come running at her and screaming the truth, something that is rare to happen because a spirit only defends those who have a clear soul. “Thank you,” Elleryn whispered. Perplexed, Rydan turns his head and finds the beautiful girl that stands beside him staring at the closed double door in front of them, waiting to be announced. She stands with confidence and determination, on protecting those she believed worth it and believing things that are important for her. That earns her a deep respect from him because he can’t do the same at the moment. Rydan turns his head, staring in the same direction, trying hard to control his erratic heartbeat the minute he lays eyes upon her, she looks… She can’t be described with words, words aren’t enough. She is amazing. Breathtaking Stunning Everything. So he only swallows and clears his throat. “For what?” he asked, he can’t be too cold towards her this time. After all, she only said thanks to him. “For Aevin and Ahron. For trying for me, and-” Elleryn takes a deep breath, before a smile widening on her face. For standing up against the Queen, despite having to follow her commands anyway. “-everything,” Elleryn continued, this time turning her head to face Rydan and smile up at him, catching Rydan by surprise. He was about to ask her how she knows it all, but she beat him to it. “A girl spirit told me, she came running and screaming at me to listen to her, so I did,” Elleryn said. A sound of pulsating rhythm of horn was heard, signaling for the two to make appearances and announce their presence. The double door opens from the inside, revealing a room filled with dazzling lights, tumultuous music playing harmoniously, various kinds of flowers in monochromatic color and high quality silk decorated the place. The room is filled with creatures, standing between a line of soft blue carpets that leads to the other side of the room, rulers of Suttern standing side by side with the rulers of Qye, both of their siblings standing not too far away, murmurings and whispers begin to start around the crowd until the music turn soft. Elleryn and Rydan take a step to the room, walking in silence and raising their chin, confidence and pride, the only thing allowed to be shown in this type of event. “You don’t have to say thanks. That's the only thing I could do,” Rydan takes a deep breath. “because I could never give you more”, Rydan continued, low enough to be heard only by her.  Elleryn nods her head, before answering in the same low voice intended only for him to hear. “I know,” Elleryn takes a glance to her side and smiles up at him. “because I could never ask for more,” she said. Because as Daughter of Qye, asking for more from the Crown Prince would only bring harm to her, And she is aware of that.
