CHAPTER 18: City Lights

"Hey" I grab Ruby's attention, who was already sat on the bleachers when I go back inside “Where you been?” She looks up at me with a smile “Getting some air” I reply and she nods “Game is starting now” She looks ahead and I watch the team shooting hoops “Such a boy” I say to myself as I spot Wintyr watching Ruby then waving at her “He's so cute” She says waving back. I then look to Cole who winks at me and I blush quickly looking away 

The game was looking pretty good and as promised I was cheering Cole on, whilst Ruby was cheering Wintyr. Cole would always wave at me so I’d have to wave back but I was really happy with the way Wintyr was playing too, I just hope he knew I was paying attention to him too cause there'd be times he’d catch me staring at Cole so I silently would say sorry 

“Dude, you're paying more attention to Cole than your own boyfriend” Ruby whispers and I shrug “Cole told me to cheer him on and Wintyr doesn’t need my cheer, he’s amazing anyways” She awes hitting my arm “You’re so cuteeee” She hugs my arm and I whine “OFFFF” I pull my arm away from her

*after the game*

“You coming?” Ruby asks me as we were stood by her car talking for.a while. It had been 30 minutes after the game had ended and the boys went in to get shower after winning their game so me and Ruby decided to wait for them outside to congratulate them before leaving “No we are going out” Wintyr suddenly appears behind me and I look up at him surprised he heard what she had just asked “Really? Can I join?” Wintyr swallows hardly looking at her in pain “It’s sort of a date” He winces and she bites her lip with a nod understanding

“It’s okay, I’ll drop her, so she's leaving with me” Wintyr’s hair was wet, so I knew he would catch a cold if I didn’t give him his jacket back but I don't know why that was worrying me right now?

“I’ll see you guys later then?” She says quietly then gets into her car and we watch her “You made that awkward” I say still stood there waiting for her to leave “Shut it pabo, you owe me a meal” He says beside me waving to Ruby 

“You i***t!” I hit his back when she was gone "Dude" I hit him again “No you’re the pabo!” He cries back “Ow” I stop hitting him “Do you not want her to like you or not?” “I do!” “So what was that?” “We are going out! I can’t leave you when you promised!” I calm down a bit “Oh, well, I'm paying so I could pay for her too" I sulk "Well you should've said, its your fault then" He rubs his arm  

"Damn it! I don't want to ruin anything” He wraps his arm around me walking me back “You didn't ruin a thing, me and Ruby will still date, get married and have kids, Okay?” I scoff pushing him off me pointing my finger at him “You better”

“Well I guess you're not so much the jerk I thought you were” I zip up his coat and he smiles at the sight “Shut it pabo” He comes back with the nickname making roll my eyes “Seatbelt” He reminds me “You hair is wet” I lean back to get his towel then start to rub his hair which he allows me to do again 

“Do you want to catch a cold? Then you’ll miss more School! Then your grades will drop then your dad will shout then I'll have to think of an excuse to calm him down and you mum will be- what?” I stop rambling when he doesn't say anything and just looks at me with a small smile “What?” I drop my hands down “You’re acting like you care” He pokes my nose “Yeah cause I do” His smile grows “I’m happy you do” “Your hair is dry enough” I throw his towel on his face to get rid of the smug grin then put my seatbelt on "Whatever" I mutter looking out my window 

“Thanks for that” He says as we fall into silent "For worrying and drying my hair" He lowly says starting the engine and driving out into some random busy street 

“China town does look cool at night” I look around as we were walking to wherever he brought me to “After we eat, we can go see the lights” I nod looking forward to that “Should we take some pics?” He offers and I nod “You’re pretty awesome Kim Wintyr" He opens a door for me to a Korean bbq then walks in behind me “It’s so nice in here” I awe "It smells so good too" I add taking it all in

Apparently Wintyr had made reservations a couple days before, which confused me cause we hadn’t even played the game yet, how did he know I wouldn’t win “What the frick” I look at the prices on the menu “It’s so expensive Wintyr” He ignores me and gets a waitress ordering food for the both of us in his language 

“Let’s talk about that later, okay?” I roll my eyes then nod “What did you order?” I ask thanking the woman as she brings us water “Everything I know you'd like” “I like everything your dad makes, asian food is yummy” I rub my belly and he chuckles “You’re such a funny human” I make an ugly face “I’m not human” He snorts “Same” He copies my face now this time I’m laughing “You are so silly” I shake my head still laughing and he agrees

“Wintyr this meat is so chewy” I make a sad face as he continues to feed me “Eat the rice with it” He blows the spoon with his hand under so he could catch any lose ones “Open” I open my mouth and he fits the spoon in “It’s go down easier with that” I nod chewing which was actually easier “Mmmm” I smile and he smiles too “You like?” “Love” I say with a mouthful “Good” He takes some food too eating off my spoon

“Wintyr we can't use the same spoon” I say when I swallow “Why not?” He looks up confused “That's unhygienic” “But we kissed” “So!?!” My cheeks go hot “So it’s normal....” “No that’s gross” I take my spoon off him “But now that’s been in my mouth” “It’s fine” I feed myself “You’re a hypocrite then” He pouts watching me

We were done eating, and I think it's safe to say that'd one of the best meals I had ever had “Here” I hand him my apple juice as he finishes his beer “Unhygienic” He states and I take it back “I joked” He reaches over and takes it from me 

“My belly is so full” I rub my belly sitting back “You look pregnant pabo” He stares me down making me jump a little “I do?” I squeak “I really do” I frown rubbing my belly “I’m joking you look fine” “Thanks you already insulted me” I watch Wintyr hand his card to the lady then open my mouth quickly “I’m supposed to pay!” “This meal is three month your pocket money babe” He says casually sitting back too “So what am I paying for then?” He opens one eye, rubbing his chin to think “Buy me something cute” I side smile “You better keep it if I do!” “Hey! You always warn me like you don't trust me” “i***t” I say under my breath trying to hold back my smile creeping in

We finally walk out the restaurant after lazing about for so long, we were now breathing the cold air out “It’s snowing” I say happily but Wintyr stops me “So if this had been a date with Cole, to win him over, you do what we practised the other day” I tilt my head “Do what?” He points to his lips and I ‘oh’ 

“But we were on the bed then” I stand in front of him looking directly up “It’s not hard just like this” He cups my face and lightly pecks my lips “See not hard” I blush all of a sudden at the interaction then look away “Cool” 

“Cool, any pointers about Ruby?” I pout thinking “She likes public affection, a lot, like holding hands-“ He takes my hand and I smile as he was so quick “When a boy plays with her hair, massages” He turns me around and rubs my shoulder then touches my hair “Kisses” He turns me around again then pecks my lips again 

“Wintyr, I’m not Ruby” I say snickering at his actions “I’m a more visual learner” He leans in wiping something off the side of my lip “I got my spit on you” He says but I smack his hands away embarrassed from his kind gesture “That's my lipgloss you weirdo” I let him know reaching out to wipe it off his lips too 

“But kiss me again and you’re dead meat, little boy” I hold up my fist warning him but somehow he was still smiling “Ooo you’re scary” He says pretending to be afraid “Whatever" I roll my eyes "Pictures now?” He asks as we turn to head to the city lights "Yeah!! I've been looking forward to that ever since I saw them" I say happily like a little girl

“I don’t want this night to end” We stand in the middle of the street “Why not?” I look up from my phone to Wintyr; He looked somewhat happy to be here, like he belonged here but I didn't know how to explain it “No I mean I want to spend more time with you” He states looking down and my eyes almost pop out "With me? Really?" I say clearly shocked “I’m that awesome right?” I try to be cool about it but he just scoffs looking away “Well....” He starts and I punch his shoulder as he had to think about it "I'm joking haha, of course you're cool Gabriella, of course" I nod proud at his little confession “In that case I can show you a secret cliff my dad used to take me to when we came here once” "Cool, let's go" He quickly agrees and I lead him around a street trying to remember the way up

"It was actually a long time ago but I'm surprised I remembered the way-" “f**k me” Wintyr sighs interrupting me when he gets a glimpse of the view from the cliff “Pretty right?” I go to stand by him but he just nods speechless as we watch the city from the high hill

"Come" I sit at the edge and pull him down "Say something" I nudge him after a while as he was just sat there quietly “Ermmm...t-this is nice” I put my head on his shoulder when he speaks up finally "I know right"

“By the way, congrats on the win captain” He fixes himself wrapping an arm around me “I had the best cheerleader” He whispers loud enough for me to hear “Ruby was cheering you on pretty good, right?” I look up happy for him but he just stares at me for a while then looks away with one nod “Right...” He says nothing after looking ahead again
