They got to the school as quickly as they could. Before getting out, Mitch and Todd scanned the area, making sure they had a clear path to the entrance. Neither one was in the mood to encounter anything along the way.
Once they were sure it was safe, they walked casually to the doors. Mitch knocked loudly like before, expecting the guard to open it.
After several seconds of waiting with no result, he tried again.
Still nothing.
Todd didn't need to point out that something wasn't right. That much was painfully obvious and he knew Mitch was as worried as he about the situation. He tried a third time, banging so hard he hurt his hand, and still, no one responded. On a whim, Todd pulled on the door and it opened with no resistance.
