Chapter Two

When pat entered the house she met her aunt in the living room. She was sitting and had a cane in her right hand.
“Have you done your chores?” she asked
“Yes,” pat who was very afraid answered
“Alright, wait there, I will be back shortly” aunt blessing said
Pat knew her aunt was going to check if truly she had done her task for the morning. She prayed that her aunt does not find any fault, not even a speck of dirt. A fault, no matter how mall would earn her a few strokes of the cane and she didn’t want that. With her heart in her mouth she waited. Her aunt returned a moment later and sat down without saying anything.
Pat still stood and watched and when her aunt said nothing, she asked, “Do you want me to get you something”
Aunt blessing with a blank expression on her face answered, “Get me a cup of water”
Pat dashes out and returns as quickly as she could. She didn’t want her aunt getting angry at her, “here’s the water,” she said
Aunt blessing took the cup of water without saying a word. After drinking she gave the cup to pat and said “you can go”
“Thank you ma, “pat greeted
She went to the verandah to sit
Barely, had she taken her seat when Kyle flew down from the tree and perched on a flower beside pat.
