Several days had now gone by and my wolf seemed to grow more feral. I felt weaker than ever and my humanity was slipping away. He had taken us on a hunt for food. His kills had gone from rabbits to more substantial prey like deer. He had been enjoying the fight they gave him, he had the scars to show for it. We had been on our way back from hunting when something caught his attention. It caught mine too. His nose lifted into the air and he followed the scent that was luring him back into the direction of the river. Slowly he stalked through the trees until he came to a halt, a twig cracking under his paw. It was Maddison. A sudden rush of life hit me. Don't you hurt her, don't you dare, I tried linking to my wolf. He gave me nothing, just snarled. Then I heard her sweet,
