Ryder's POV:
The whole week people are looking at Lily. She knows why they are doing it, but never told me. How I see it's not something nice. I feel bad for her because this is making her sad. What can be this thing? Maybe they are a couple of things. All I can do is to be with her. Since she isn't telling me, I can't help her. I hope that soon this will end. I hate to see her like that.
Now I am in school with Mason and Alex. I saw that when Lily came into the hall, some people looked at her. I grabbed one girl's hand and pulled her close to us. I want to know what is going on.
- What the hell? Why did you do that?
- Can you tell me what is going on? Why everyone is looking at Lily?
- Don't you know?
- Know what? What has happened?
- I heard that Lily's sister has killed herself. People say that she was depressed and that Lily has mental issues.
- What? That's not true. Lily is totally fine.
- Are you sure? People with this kind of problem can hide them very well. I have to go now. Bye boys.
I can't believe it. This can't be true. I am sure that Lily is fine. Why else my mom will leave my sisters to her. But why she didn't want to tell me? I know that it looks bad, but she can trust me. I looked at her. This is messed up. I can't stay and watch her like that. Usually, I don't care about girls, but for some reason, I care for Lily. Lily didn't do anything and doesn't deserve it.
I was about to go to her when Alex grabbed my hand.
- Do you really think to go to her?
- Why not? You didn't believe this, did you?
- Since people are saying it, there might be some truth from all of this.
- The question is who started it and why. This is not something, which you tell every person you meet. It's very personal. Maybe that's why Lily didn't say anything about it. If it is true or at least some part of it, she won't feel ok telling this to whoever it is. Even you Ryder. - Mason said
- I know, but I feel bad for her. The whole week people are giving her looks. Now everybody thinks that she has problems.
- So you will go and talk with her? - Alex asked
- I won't ask is it true or not, but I can try to cheer her up.
- Yeah, one make-out surely will do it. - Alex smirked
- I am not talking about this. I won't do anything to her.
- Since when you decide to stop to be a player.
- Since she came in his house. I think that he maybe likes her. - Mason said
- I don't know. We don't have many things in common.
- That doesn't mean that you can't be with her. If she is like you, there is no chance for you to have her.
I didn't say anything else and walked to Lily. It took her a couple of seconds to realize that there was a person in front of her. She looked at me confused and I return with a smile. No one was talking and there was no need for that. Her eyes were telling everything. You can clearly see how much this is hurting her. I gave her a hug and felt how she relaxed her head on my chest. A couple of tears fall down, which made me look at her. I carefully wiped them.
- I know everything. - I whispered
Her eyes went wild. I guess that she didn't want me to know.
- How? Who told you?
- It doesn't matter. Don't worry, I don't believe any of that. I know that you are fine.
Lily was about to say something, but the bell started ringing. Maybe I can talk with her at lunch. I hope that everything is ok. To be honest I don't like it. I don't know how she is staying so calm. If people were talking like that about me, probably I was going to explode or at least say something. For example to deny it. I wouldn't leave people to believe things about me, which are not true.
It was our lunch break. I told the boys that I will go get Lily and will meet them at the cafeteria. She was staying by her locker as usual. I sneaked behind her and gave her a back hug. Lily turned around and I gave her a smile in return.
- It's lunchtime. Will you come with me? The boys are waiting for us.
- Yeah, about that. I don't want to eat.
- I don't care. Let's go. - I said and grabbed her hand
Both of us walked in and the eyes were on her again.
- Go and sit with the boys. I'll go to take food and will come too.
Lily nodded her head and did what I told her. When I took our lunch, I went and sat next to her. She looked at the food but didn't take a bite. I know that she feels bad, but she has to eat. I took the fork and put it in her hand. Soon Lily started to eat. No one was talking. I don't know what more to tell her. Whatever I say, it doesn't help. I know that it's bad, but it always could be worse.
All of us were eating, when we heard a female voice behind us.
- Well, well, well. Look who is here. And if that is not Lily Jenkins.
- Maddie!? - Lily said
I turned around and saw a tall blond girl. She was dressed in a shirt, tight jeans, and high heels. Her hair was in a ponytail. I don't know who is she, but for some reason, she kept looking at Lily.
- Are you surprised to see me?
- W-what are you doing here?
- I wanted to see my best friend.
- We never were best friends or friends at all.
- Thank god for that. So how is your sister? Ops, I forgot.
- Wait a minute! Did you tell the whole school that?
- Tell what?
- So you were the one who said all these things for me. Why did you do that?
- Do you know what the word revenge means?
- But I didn't do anything to you.
- You didn't, but your sister did. And since I can't get it back to her, I will do it to you.
Who the hell is this girl and why did she say all of that? Lily hasn't done anything to her. She just said it. I have no idea what is going on.
- She didn't do anything to you.
- Your sister stole my date before she went crazy.
- My sister didn't do it. It's not her fault that he never liked you. Moreover, she wasn’t crazy.
- Yeah, she was sick. I don't know why your parents left her at home. Poor girl. She needed to be in a mental hospital.
With that, I saw how tears came into Lily's eyes. I wanted to help her so badly, but I don't know how. I have no idea what these two are talking about.
- She was totally fine. You were supposed to be her best friend, to be there for her. When she needed you the most, you left her. She was alone, because of you.
- I am not the reason, for which she killed herself.
- But you could've helped her. If you have talked with her, maybe she was never going to do it. I will never be going to forgive you for what you did to her.
- She did it by herself, I didn't do anything.
- That's for what I am talking about. Liam went to her because he realize how big b***h you are.
- Take your words back, right now or you will see.
- You can do whatever you want to me, but if you say one more bad word about my sister, I won't hesitate to do something. Trust me, you won't like it.
- You are just like her. Maybe you should've killed yourself just like her. Everybody knows that since her death, you become crazy.
- Can I know why are you talking to her like that? - I asked
- Look, lover boy, I don't talk with you, so shut up.
- Just go away, Maddie. No one wants you here.
- You have to admit it. Your sister was a***whole.
Lily got up, slapped her, and walked away. I have never seen her that angry. Does this mean that the rumors are true? It can't be true, right?
I got up and walked after her. I have to admit that Lily is a fast walker. Luckily, I was faster and soon caught her. I grabbed her hand and made her face me. She looked at me with tears in her eyes. I was about to wipe them, but she pushed me away and started walking. I followed her.
- Lily, wait!
- Just leave me. I don't want to talk with you.
- I don't want you to explain anything. Please listen to me. I don't believe this girl. You should do it too. She only wants to make you upset.
Lily continued walking, without saying a single word. I caught her again and pulled her for a hug. I felt how she broke down in my arms. We went back to school only to take our things and then walked away. I took her to one park at the end of the town. Few people go there so when we arrived it was almost empty. We sat on one bench and she snuggled in me. I felt tears again. I lifted her chin and looked her in the eyes. To be honest I have never seen so much pain in one body. I couldn't resist and pull her for a tight hug. I hate to see her like that. It's breaking my heart.
- Everything will be ok, I promise you. - I whispered
- How can you be so sure?
- Because I am here and I won't let anything happen to you.
I pulled away and looked her in the eyes. I gladly would kiss her, but it wasn't the right moment.
- Do you want to watch a movie with me? I will behave. - I chuckled
- Thanks, but it'll be better if I go home. Maybe the next time.
- I don't want it to be the next time, I want it now. C'mon, you can't deny this offer.
- You won't leave me, right?
- Nope. So will you accept?
- Do I have another choice? I guess that I have to accept.
- Awesome. Let's go now. We can go to buy some popcorn and other junk food.
With that, we got up and left. We walked into the first shop which we saw on the way home. When both of us walked out, our bags were full. I don't know will we eat the whole food, but it was worth it. There better be more food instead of less.
Until the end of the night, we watched movies at home. Mom offered Lily to stay for dinner and luckily, she accepted. I wanted to send her home since it was dark, but she denied it.
I don't know what happened today and who was this girl, but I definitely didn't like her. She said very bad things for Lily and her sister. Well, I didn't know that she has one. I hope that Maddie won't appear anymore. I don't want the same thing to happen again. I think that I am starting to like Lily and I hope that she feels the same.
