The music blares as Aria and I come to the front yard of the humans house. I start to feel butterflies fill my stomach as Greys scent grows stronger the closer we get to the house. We walk through the side gate to see humans dancing around spilling their drinks everywhere. We are pushed around by the crowd as we try to walk inside. There is already a fight starting by the pool between two humans. I eagerly search through the crowd for Grey. His scent is still strong so he must be close.
We make our way into the house and around to the kitchen. The kitchen bench is covered with opened bottles of spirits and soft drinks. I hear the fridge close and look up to see who it was. Grey, holding a beer in his hand. Juliet is all over him as he leans up against the bench looking off into the distance. He ignores her completely as she twirls her hair and laughs flirtatiously. His eye line slowly raises to meet mine, he suddenly nudges his way past Juliet and around the bench to meet us.
"Hey you!" he says with a smile. I can feel Juliets glares from behind us.
"Hey!" I blush. Trying to block her from my mind. He looked so perfect his tight black top with his worn blue jeans and his hair rugged but perfect as always.
"Well, I can see some very lonely wolves on the dancefloor so I must right that situation immediately!" Aria chuckles.
"Nice shorts!" Grey complemented with a wink when Aria is gone. Juliet is still standing too close behind him.
"Thanks." I respond shyly.
"Grey?" Juliet whined as she stepped between us, "Are you coming to hang out with us?" She asked while entwining her fingers with his. Grey frowned at her and pulled his hand away.
"I'll catch up with you guys later." he answered.
"But you can't be seen hanging out with the Red Woods Mutt?!?!" She almost yells. A few people around us stop to stare. I feel myself shrink to avoid the curious glares.
"Juliet, I think you should go. Willow is my chemistry partner so we were going to discuss some of our ideas for the major assessment coming up." Grey explains turning his back on her. She shuts up and storms off.
"She's my number one fan." I try to lighten the mood and roll my eyes. Grey chuckles at me.
His scent was so strong drawing me towards him. Being around him was the best feeling I had ever felt. He reaches his hand out to meet mine.
"Come with me" he says.
I grab hold of his warm, soft hands and follow his lead. As we walk through all the people dancing, it still feels like we are the only ones there. He leads me out to the side garden and around to a small bench in the middle of a garden path. The music was in the distance and no one was anywhere near us. My heart started to pound, we were finally alone.
"Look, Willow, no matter what I do I am drawn towards you. Please say that you have thought about giving us a go?" Grey asks when he is sure no one is around or can hear.
"I have, I truly have and I feel the same way. I do want to give us a go, but it must stay a secret." I desperately whisper.
Grey's eyes start to darken as he stares into mine, he reaches his hands out and grabs my lower back, pulling me in towards him. As my chest touches his, tiny fireworks go off inside of me. One of his hand stays on my lower back wrapping around me while the other slowly makes it's way up to my cheek. My hands follow his lead and wrap around his neck. Grey bends down to kiss me softly at first, his gentle lips meeting mine, sending shockwaves through my body. Shay tries to take control as the kiss becomes more desperate, I can only imagine that his wolf is doing the same.
"GET OFF OF HIM!" Juilet screams in a loud squeaky sound.
Shit we are caught. What if she tells everyone? What if my pack finds out I, the Alpha of Red Wood Pack's daughter, was kissing the future Alpha from the Goliath Pack? I had to come up with something but I was lost for ideas. My whole body was pure panic. Grey sensed my stress and slid his hand down to meet mine, slowly rubbing the back of the hand with his thumb. The action was instantly calming. A quirk of the mate bond.
"I... I... I am so sorry! Bit too much to drink!" Grey stammers and sways. He was pretending to be drunk. I caught on to his play when he winked at me.
"Ewww! Get off me you drunk i***t!" I moans as I push him away. Grey smiles his cheeky smile at me, giving reassurance. Juliet comes rushing over to meet Grey.
"Grey, are you okay?" Juliet asks whist giving me the biggest death stare. If looks could kill, I would have died an extremely painful death right there and then.
"Yeah, I'm fine" Grey sighs and slumps on to the lawn in a heap. He should really take up drama at school - this is a Aria worthy performance. "But we mustn't tell anyone what just happened if they found out I kissed the mutt of the Red Woods Pack. Who knows what could happen?" He continues. Juliet eats it all up completely unaware.
"Ohh, yeah that's true, okay babe. It will be our little secret." Juliet reassures him while stroking his hair out of his face. Shay starts to growl as Juliet touches our mate. I fight to hold her at bay.
Thank God for Grey! I don't know what I would have said. Actually, I do know what would've happened. I would have stood there like a fool while Juliet ripped me to shreds. I am not allowed to phase into a wolf in the presence of humans and there is no way I would be able to beat her in a fight. She would have begun telling Grey all the bad things about me and I would have been totally humiliated.
"Let's get out of here, Juliet." Grey tells her as she prances off. Grey looks back putting his hands in the shape of a phone and mouthing "call me later".
I slouch down onto the bench once they have left, hoping Juliet really wouldn't tell anyone. Thoughts flew through my mind, I hoped that Juliet wouldn't bring this up at school. Although that kiss was worth Juliet humiliating me, I still didn't want it getting back to my parents. The party from then on was pretty dull. I watched as Aria went off dancing with many wolf bachelors and drank my soda. No one tried to talk to me and I really preferred it that way.
