Chapter 7

Sure enough, after hearing this, Sophia pouted and said, "Huh? So, did you spend all your money on this watch?" Ethan smiled and said, "It's rare for a man to buy something for his beautiful wife. As long as you're happy, every penny spent is worth it." Sophia hesitated for a moment, then said, "Honey, can this watch be returned? If we get a refund for it and add it to my savings, it will be enough for a down payment on a house. Then, we can move out and live peacefully together." Hearing Sophia’s words, Ethan couldn't help but feel touched. Deep down, he knew that Sophia wanted to move out for his sake, so he wouldn't have to endure her parents' constant criticism. "My love, the store said that once it's sold, it can't be returned. Even if there's an issue with the watch, it can only be repaired for free. So, just wear it and enjoy it." "As for the house down payment, don’t worry. I’ll find a job and work hard with you," Ethan continued. "You’re looking for a job?" Sophia showed a surprised expression on her face, then asked, "Is this true? Honey, why did you suddenly decide to find a job?" Ethan smiled and said, "It’s been three years. I've recovered, and I need to start working. And today, your mother warned me that within three days, I must get a job, or else she’ll force me to divorce you." "But is your body really okay?" Sophia asked worriedly. For the past three years, Ethan hadn't gone out to work, and Sophia had never complained because she knew he had suffered a severe injury. Three years ago, Sophia had just started working. One night, after working overtime until late, she encountered some drunken thugs on the street who tried to assault her. Fortunately, Ethan happened to pass by and saved her, but one of the thugs stabbed him from behind. When Ethan was rushed to the hospital, he almost lost his life due to excessive blood loss. Luckily, Sophia had type O blood and was able to save him through a transfusion. Since then, they had formed a strong bond. Sophia often visited the hospital to take care of Ethan. Over time, they got to know each other better, and their feelings grew deeper. Even after Ethan was discharged, the doctor warned that his waist injury meant he shouldn't do physically demanding work or endure prolonged exhaustion. Out of guilt and growing affection, Sophia decided to marry Ethan despite her family’s objections. In reality, Ethan hadn’t been jobless for three years just because of his injury. He also didn’t want to work under someone else. As a former young master of the Callahan Family, he was used to a life of luxury and had never needed to work hard. Suddenly having to work and submit to others, lowering himself, was not something he could easily accept. However, Ethan knew that sooner or later, the Callahan Family would lift their restrictions on him. He had never been worried about his future. Now that the restrictions had been removed, he was once again a wealthy young master who could spend money freely. He only said he would look for a job to pacify his mother-in-law and stop her daily ridicule. "As long as I don’t do physical labor, my body will be fine. So don’t worry," Ethan reassured. "Then, do you have any job plans?" Sophia asked. "I haven’t thought about it yet. Don’t worry. I’ll find one in the next two days. Let’s not talk about this anymore. I still have some money left. Let’s have dinner and watch a movie!" Ethan wrapped his arm around Sophia’s slender waist, and they walked off together, chatting and laughing. Sophia didn’t choose a fancy restaurant. They found a small street-side eatery, ate, and then went to the cinema. When they arrived at the theater, they saw a giant movie poster. Sophia exclaimed in surprise, "Ethan, look! This is a new movie starring Hammaxania. She’s now the country’s top star. Sarah loves her so much. Her phone wallpaper is all Hammaxania’s pictures." As a top actress, Hammaxania had an outstanding face and figure. However, in Ethan’s eyes, no matter how beautiful a celebrity was, she could never compare to his wife. "Honey, do you like her too?" Sophia nodded slightly in admiration. "Yes, she’s really popular. What woman wouldn’t idolize her? The poster also says she’ll be coming to this city in a few days to promote her new movie." "Sarah will be so excited when she hears this. She’s always wanted Hammaxania’s signed photo. But Hammaxania has too many fans, and every time there’s a promotional event, most of them don’t even get to see her in person, let alone get an autograph." At that moment, an announcement sounded, signaling that their movie was about to start. "Ah, the movie is starting soon. Honey, let’s get our tickets checked!" Sophia grabbed Ethan’s hand, and they walked toward the entrance. The film was a comedy filled with laughter. Sophia laughed so much throughout that tears of joy streamed down her face. *** On the way home in a taxi, Sophia kept discussing the movie with Ethan, still laughing. When they arrived at their apartment complex gate, they got out of the car. A red Porsche sports car was parked at the entrance, immediately catching their attention. The complex they lived in wasn’t a high-end area, so it was rare to see someone who could afford such a luxury car. At that moment, inside the Porsche, a man and a woman were sitting closely together. "Honey, the girl in that car looks like Sarah," Sophia said as she took a closer look, her face suddenly changing. Especially when she saw Damian placing his hand on Sarah’s clothes, her anger flared. Sophia quickly walked toward the Porsche and knocked on the window, startling the two people inside. Seeing that it was Sophia, Sarah quickly pushed Damian away and adjusted her hair and clothes. With a guilty expression, Damian stepped out of the car and stood before them.
