The cries rang in my eyes, but I couldn't seem to open my eyes. My sinuses hurt like hell, and the air was foul and hot.
“Marjorie!”
With the last scream my eyes flung open. It took me a really long time to figure out what was happening. The air was filled with thick smoke and I could barely see anything. People outside were shouting and screaming.
I got up from my bed, panicking as I tried to leave the room. I used the walls to guide me to the door, careful to stay clear of the fire. If I had stayed on the bed a second longer, I would've been burned alive. All my bedding was now on fire.
