The carriage rolled down the road as I stared out the window. My stomach became more and more twisted as we went on. All residents from Aldrich were retrieved from every kingdom and retured home. That meant Benjamin was back in Aldrich as well.
Gregory put his feet up and rested his head on my lap. I smiled as I stroked his hair.
“Your hair is a mess,” he chuckled, playing with a strand of it.
I laughed. “I know. I don't know when I last washed it.”
I knew. It was the day I last saw Benjamin. It was three and a half weeks ago.
“Back home, you'll receive all the special treatment you deserve. They'll wash your hair in sweet smelling shampoo, and you'll bathe and soak in warm water.”
I grinned. That sounded heavenly. “I can't wait.”
