I sat fidgeting with the hem of my shirt, waiting for the pack doctor to come to collect Jonah's and my blood for DNA analysis. If I were his long-lost sister, it would all make sense. Everyone in his pack had some special ability. His pack was extraordinary indeed. That meant I had a family out there that I never had the chance to know. I thought I was alone in the world until the triplets became my mates. Now I'm learning I might have a whole pack that has been looking for me.
The pack doctor came into the room and lowered his head to show submission to all the alphas in the room.
"Alpha Jayden Kayden and Hayden, it's a pleasure to serve you as always." He turns to me and lowers his head. "My Luna, if it pleases you, I will draw your blood first, then Alpha Jonah's."
"Yes, that will be just fine." I smiled slightly as he approached me. In no time at all, he had both our blood and told us to give him a few days, and he would have an answer for us. I nodded, but I was anxious to find out if Jonah was, in fact, my brother. The resemblance between us couldn't be denied. We were almost identical. Same eyes, same chin, and same nose except for our hair color. Where I had red hair, Jonah had dark. His jaw was sharper than mine, giving him a more masculine appearance. I also couldn't deny the desire to be close to him. Not in the same sense as I do with my mates, but something about him calmed me and my wolf. Where something always felt like it was missing with him, here that feeling was gone.
A short time later, we were joined by Beta Zane, my best friend, and his mate, Lindsey. Lunch was served out in the garden overlooking the mountains that rested at the back of the pack house. This was my second favorite place in the whole world outside my library. We had a simple lunch of grilled chicken salad with strawberry shortcake for dessert. I rested my head on Jayden's shoulder and sighed. Today has been both exhausting and absolutely perfect. We talked about our strategy if we were to be attacked. We showed our visitors where they would be staying.
"Don't worry about your luggage," I said with a small smile. "It has already been brought into each of your guest houses."
"Thank you," Jonah said while watching me closely. I could tell he wasn't quite ready to let me out of his sight. If I was who he said I was, then I also couldn't blame him for wanting to be close.
"We will gather our pack and meet you guys out at the arena in thirty minutes if that is okay, so we can start coordinating our plan."
"Yes, that will be fine with us," the Alpha's said in unison." I smiled and shook their hands once again.
"Thank you again for coming."
"It is our pleasure, Luna Zendrea."
I headed back to the pack house with my mates, holding hands with Hayden and Jayden while Kaden walked behind me, resting his hand on the small of my back.
"What's going to happen if I am Marisol?" I asked Jayden.
"You will still be our mate and Luna. We will just be visiting your brother's pack a lot more often. I will take you there as soon as we know, so that you can meet your real parents. They have been missing you for a long time. I remember our parents talking about when Marisol went missing; it destroyed her parents and nearly killed her mother. Thankfully, they still had Jonah to keep them together. They focused on him, which kept them going.”
I felt bad for them and found that a small part of me wished that I could be Marisol to ease some of the pain I saw in Jonah's eyes. If that was any indication of the pain that Marisol’s parents are experiencing, I could help ease some of that pain if I were here.
“What were their names? Marisol’s parents, I mean.”
“They are Alpha Fredrick and Luna Rose. Jonah isn’t alpha yet, just like we aren’t technically alphas yet, but he is like us alphas in training.” I nodded my understanding. I wanted to see him again. I want to talk to him more about Alpha Fredrick and Luna Rose. Something about their names sparked something in me. A curiosity about them. I wanted to find out more about my might be parents. How maybe now the small piece I always feel missing might be filled with the family I didn’t know I had.
The other Alphas joined us for dinner. Jonah insisted on being close to me, so he sat on the other side of Jayden. He watched me closely, taking in my features. I smiled slightly at him.
“Forgive me, I do not mean to stare. It is just strange for me seeing you for the first time. The feeling is strange. I want to be around you all the time. It’s different from a mate bond, but a bond none the less.”
“It is alright,” I assure him, “I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same way.” I sat next to Jonah just enjoying being in his presence. My wolf was equally relaxed being near Jonah. She felt safe with him. A connection neither one of us could explain. My wolf and his wolf were connected in a way I could not explain. She loved his wolf, and his wolf loved her. He was very protective of her.
An arm slipped around my shoulders, and I glanced into Jayden's eyes.
“Come, my love, let's get you in the tub and let you relax a bit. It’s been a long day.” I relaxed into Jayden and followed him to our room and into the bathroom, where he had a hot bubble bath drawn and was waiting. Jayden, Kayden, and Hayden all surrounded me, each one helping to remove some article of clothing. Kayden lifted me up and eased me down into the tub. Jayden massaged my scalp while Hayden and Kayden rubbed small circles on my palms. I relaxed further. I didn’t realize how much I really needed this. The tension in my shoulders and neck slowly fading away.
