Freya
Galen was persistent. He was sweet at least. We spent the morning gathering berries, flowers, and stones.
"What are these for?" Galen asked. "Having a party?" I giggled.
"No, I am making gifts for a few friends," I told him.
"You are a very interesting and mysterious girl," Galen told me. I smiled. "So, where is your family?"
"They died a long time ago. My father and my mother. It was just us three," I told him.
"I'm sorry," he said. "You should come meet my family."
"In the village," I said. I was startled by his request. "No, I don't think I should."
"Why?" he asked.
"I don't know anyone from there and I know how much they hate outsiders," I told him but it was a lie. I was more scared of seeing Revan and having to feel the pain of losing him. Not being able to hold him.
"You will be with me," he said. "Please, we will be holding a gathering soon."
"Soon?" I questioned.
"Tomorrow night," he said.
"The night of the blood moon?" I asked.
"Yes, I guess,"
"You shouldn't go out. You should stay inside," I told him. "Have you not heard of the rumors about that night?"
"Aren't they just that, rumors?" he replied. "I am not afraid. My family isn't either."
"Well, it is just better to be safe than sorry," I said.
"I guess but I cannot live my life like that, I want to be free of any fear," he said. I gave him a soft smile. "Just think about it. It will be fun."
"Okay,"
We continued with our day. I invited him over to have some dinner.
"Have you ever been in love?" Galen asked out of nowhere.
"Excuse me,"
"I'm sorry for being direct but I just was too curious,"
"I have," I said boldly. His eyes shifted downward and then he came up to look at me with that curious gaze again.
"Tell me about him," I chuckled at his request.
"He was kind and alluring," I told him. "It was sponatanoues but it didn't last."
"I can't say I am sorry to hear that for that," he admitted. "I don't think I have ever been in love but." He smiled and looked deep into my eyes. "I can imagine how intense and quick that feeling could be." Galen came closer to me. Gave me a small peck on the corner of my lips. "I hear love can make you do stupid things. It can make you an entirely new, different person. It can make you fearless and powerful."
"It can also be painful and full of sorrow," I said. "It can make you weak and vulnerable. It can turn you into someone you never wanted to be."
"So, do you think it is not worth it to fall in love?" Galen asked.
"I think it is worth it. It is worth fighting for," I replied.
"I do too," he smiled. "I should be going now. I want to see you again. Please come to the village tomorrow." I didn't answer him but gave him a hopeful smile. I took the rest of the night to set up the offerings. I went to sleep quickly after.
The next day, I went to take a bath in the lake. I was eager for the night to come so I could see my old friends again. I think this was the only night I ever felt normal. I could never be around other people without feeling different. They didn't believe in faries or other supernatural things. I got dressed and sat by the lake. I let my foot dangle on the edge.
"Why don't you come out?" I asked the stranger hiding behind the bushes. This seems to be a reoccurring issue for me.
"I am so sorry," I heard his voice before I turned around. Those grey eyes looked back at me.
"Hello," I said.
"Hi, I am so sorry, again please forgive me. I was picking some flowers for my mother and," he was rambling. He gaze never left mine. I smiled.
"It's okay," I said. He walked over and sat next to me.
"Why are you all the way out here? Alone," he asked.
"Bathing," I smiled. He blushed and looked away.
"I did not see that," Revan said. I giggled and said it was fine if he did. He smirked and brushed back a strand of hair that had fell on my face.
"REVAN!" someone called.
"I have to go," he said. "I, um,"
"REVAN HURRY," they called again more presistently.
"Go," I said. He stood up kept his eyes on me and walked away. I went back home and continued my preparations.
"FREYA!" Galen called.
"Why are you here?" I asked.
"I wanted to see you and I want to take you somewhere," he said. Galen grabbed my arm and pulled me away with him.
"Wait, please," I said.
"Just for a little while, please," he smiled.
We made it to the village. I looked around and didn't see him.
"Gelan," a pretty girl called to him.
"This is my sister Georgina," he said. Georgina was so beautiful.
"Hello," she said softly.
"Hi, my name is,"
"Freya," Georgina said for me. "Yeah, I know." She was smiling as if she knew something I didn't.
"Come meet the others," Galen said. He introduced me to his brother Arthur and Zen.
"Wait until you meet our other brother," Arthur said. "He is the funniest." Galen coughed in annoyance.
"Come here," Galen said as he looked ahead. "Brother." I saw those eyes again.
"Hi, my name is Revan," he said.
"Hello Revan, I'm Freya," I said. My heart was beating twice as fast now. I knew Revan was affected as well. He looked nervous and happy at the same time.
"Brother," Galen said snapping him out of his thoughts. I wanted to know those thoughts.
"Let us go dance," Galen said. There was music playing and so much food set on four different tables. As I danced with Galen, I could feel Revan's eyes on me. I wanted to look back but I was scared. I finally decided to swallow my fear and I turned to look. Our eyes met but then I saw those dark eyes behind him looking back at me as well.
