As Monday dragged on, Bri was there just as she promised. She sat with me at lunch, dropped me home after school, and Cade had clearly made excuses not to see me while I was with her. He at least respected my decision enough to stay away. My ability to smile had stopped working, and Brianna had noticed. She pestered me to tell her what was wrong, but I just couldn't tell her now. For my own selfish reasons, I needed her to help me get through this.
