Seattle Funderland

The rest of the things needed to make the Rieckes new residence feel like home again soon arrived and they spent the first half of the week setting every item into it's most suitable position - everyone had started to put on their snuggly clothing to get some warmth as the temperature averages in Seattle hit an incredible low of -17°C. The Rieckes were doing their best to put their stay at Bramall Apartment behind them but anyone could tell it was hardly easy. A couple of days later, they were rounding up their first week in Seattle. Since Cherry's kitchen equipment had arrived, they no longer depended on fast food to satisfy their taste buds. Cherry insisted on the kids going out the Seattle winter fiesta downtown. She saw it as a huge opportunity for Mason, Max and Maddie to  go and mix up with other kids in the Seattle environment. Mason and Max felt reluctant but Maddie displayed unusual interest in attending the fiesta. She actually saw it as a chance to lay her hands on the heavy concentrate of Macmillium which was embedded on Seattle soil. Although, it was very dangerous for any human to come within at least six feet of such a large source of the world's most dangerous element. The kids loved their mother so much that they'd do anything to make her even if it meant attending a party they knew very little about. The event was to take place on a Saturday evening at a park known widely in Seattle as 'the Seattle Funderland' - not bad for a name. They wore their clothes and walked with Cherry to the front of the apartment where they boarded a taxi that took them straight to the venue where the event was to hold. There was no happier sight than seeing children running up and down, having fun and feeling excitement rush through their veins. "So I'll pick you up by seven...the fiesta must have closed by then...Alright?" said Cherry after they had all alighted from the taxi. "Alright mom!" said Maddie but Max and Mason Just couldn't hide their reluctance. As soon as Cherry turned back to sit inside the taxi, Maddison used her sophisticated wristband to create a tracker which was made of a regular frustum and a pointy metal with a red sphere at its top, shooting out of the hollow frustum's centre. The wristband which she previously used to create a plasma blaster was one of her own inventions. It made use of the principle of nanotechnology to manipulate the arrangement of nanomolecules to form whatever object she wanted! Perhaps one of her most impressive creations. "You guys go have fun at the party...I'm looking for some Macmillium" said Maddie who flickered her glasses and exited the scene. Maddie's sensors beeped more frequently showing that she was closer to the source of the energy than any of the authorities had ever been from the start. She planned to detect a stable position of the energy and then comeback to get it later after she must have developed a mechanism powerful enough to enclose such a high energy value. The boys roamed across the venue trying to see if the things there might be of interest to them, possibly make new friends - which had been their mother's intention. While they strolled Max saw a huge basketball rim where people attempted throws at a rim to earn rewards. Max ran to the sight after telling Mason that he'd finally found an activity that might be of interest to him. Mason was annoyed at the way Max ditched him after Maddie had done same. So he concluded he'd just have to find something that would suit him as well. As Mason walked, he searched round the park with his arms in his pockets and a muffler round his neck. He stumbled into a young lady - fair and slim, wearing a beanie and a sweater that went as far down as her thighs. The goods she carried fell down to the floor and Mason bent to help her pick them up while showing he inadvertently stumbled into her. "I am so sorry!" said Mason hoping not to get into any more trouble. "It's alright...it's fine" said the lady who repeatedly adjusted her long blonde locks. Mason thought this could be an opportunity to make a new pal just as his Mom wanted. After thinking of several ways to spark up a conversation, it dawned on him that best way to spark up a conversation with a stranger was by introducing himself. He had several doubts about doing so, but on the other hand he thought - "the worst that could happen is that I get slapped in the face! What else could possibly go wrong?" After the young lady had gotten all her boxes back on her hands she stood to her feet and smiled at Mason for a short while and the young lad reciprocated. "Hi I'm Mason" he said stretching out his right hand to receive a handshake. His hand shook with fear - he closed his eyes expecting a hot dash in the face or for the lady to leave the conversation showing disinterest. "I'm Madonna, nice to meet you...I'd shake you but I've got a lot of boxes on my hands" said the lady who now revealed her name. "Oh yeah...didn't notice that...so uh...mind if I help you with those boxes?" "Yeah sure" said Madonna. Mason was relieved at the fact that he didn't get slapped. It was obvious that he was still being haunted by the experience he had with Clara down memory lane. "Maybe Madonna is different" he thought within himself as he walked alongside her towards one of the numerous canopies that were set at the venue. Madonna worked as an apprentice for an old lady who ran the cotton candy canopy at Seattle Funderland. The boxes she carried contained excessive amounts of coloured sugar. Mason and Madonna talked and talked like they'd known each other for years. Mason kept her company while she waited for the time mapped out for the event to elapse so she could pack her bags and go home. Mason stood outside the deck that separated Madonna and her boss from the customers who came to purchase the cotton candy. He was in for another huge surprise. As Madonna rested her elbows on the deck talking to her new 'pal', A guy about Mason's height - only a bit more muscular, ran towards him and forced a beautifully sculpted and designed vase into his hands and took his heels. Mason had never seen this guy before and while he looked in utter confusion, two cops came and stood in front him with handcuffs - both fully armed. The shorter of the two cops said - "Finally...here he is!". He struggled to catch his breath. "Here is who?" Mason asked looking at the both of them repeatedly. "Don't try to play dumb son...you're under arrest for stealing that priceless vase from the Seattle Museum" said the other cop bringing out a pair of handcuffs while also struggling to catch his breath. "Officers you don't understand...some random guy just came here and put it in my hands...I have nothing to do with this" Mason explained but the officers just weren't buying it. "You tell that to the Attorney!" answered the shorter policeman who was also panting heavily. Without hesitation, Mason took to his heels with the vase in his hands. He ran as fast and as far as his feet could carry him taking good advantage of the cops' fatigue and his slim body stature. The cops wouldn't dare to shoot even a single bullet despite holding loaded firepower. Their reason was pretty obvious - it was in order not to hurt any of the innocent kids at the Winter Fiesta; just a single bullet shot would send everyone to complete commotion. Mason ran into a ditch when he was least concentrated on his footwork and as a result the vase slipped out of his hands and fell to the ground - breaking into pieces. He was really frightened! So many questions bombarded his mind simultaneously - "How would he or his parents ever get enough money to replace the vase? Was he ever going to be found? How on earth would he learn how to climb out of a five feet deep hole in a matter of minutes? - Questions galore that were all begging for answers in his head. He sat on the floor and wrapped his hands around his knees for a while before he stood up pacing violently around the ditch. After a few minutes he heard minutes he heard the voice of the cops that chased him. One precisely said - "I think he went that way! C'mon let's go". Suddenly a blue spherical object whose light shined so bright popped out of a part of the ground that had slowly cracked open. What could it possibly be?
