My name is Sasha, I am the first women in hundreds of years to be turned.

I am also the real female Beta.

Thanks to my friend Allison who believed in me and gifted me with the one thing I have always wanted.

Now it is my duty to protect her, even if that means giving up my life.

She is my Luna, and I am her Beta

CH.1 Sasha
The sun was shining through my window, but that’s not what woke me. Instead it was the feeling of someone’s strong arm wrap around me and pulled me close to them. The places where our skin met was like nothing I have ever felt before. So electric, I didn’t want to move in fear that this feeling would disappear. My hair was swept to the side. Allowing the sun to warm my check. “Sasha?” Sam’s beautiful voice called to me. His voice sent shivers down my spine. “Sasha you are awake. Doctor! Doctor, come quickly she is awake!” As soon as Sam left the bed to go in search of the doctor I was left with an empty feeling in my gut. Wait doctor? This caught my attention quickly. I sat up quickly taking in my surroundings. Sure enough I was in a hospital room. Somehow I had wound up in a hospital gown. Sam came rushing back into the room followed by the doctor. Sam stood at my bedside. His hair a mess and his clothes you could tell had been slept in. The doctor checked me over asking me a bunch of questions while doing so. “What is the last thing you remember?” The doctor asked while he shined a light into my eyes.  “Um,” Sasha thought about his question for a moment. What was the last thing she remembered? Wolves fighting with other wolves. She remembered taking women and children to the hideouts. She was supposed to wait with them for the fight to be over, but she couldn’t. She had to fight, she was the Luna’s Beta. If her Luna was fighting, so was she. She had fought her way back to the house. The center of the battle. She remembered firing her bow then a sharp pain. Then blackness, but not for long. She was blinded by a bright light before emerging from a pool of water. Everything was black and white. She remembered seeing Alex and Allison. Along with Alpha Ryan and his beta. Then just before more darkness came she saw a teary faced Sam. Sasha told the doctor all this looking to Sam to help fill in her gaps.  “Sasha, sweetheart, the reason you saw everything in black and white.” Sam took a deep breath grabbing her hand in his. “You, Allison she um, you are a wolf.” Sasha sat there stunned for a moment. Did she hear him correctly? Did he just say that she was a wolf? Anger quickly filled where the shock had been. How dare he joke about that. He knew how much she wanted to be a wolf. What she wanted to even try and become one. She pushed him away. Sam’s eyes quickly shot back to her. “Who do you think you are? You better than anyone knows I can take any joke or prank out there, but not that. You crossed a line Sam. Tell me the truth!” Sam stood there too shocked to move let alone say anything. The doctor chose now to step in.  “Sasha it is true. You are indeed a wolf. The Luna somehow turned you after you were attacked on the battlefield. Shortly after your transformation your body shut down. It desperately needed time to adjust and heal from the trauma.” Sasha sat there staring between the doctor and Sam.  “But how?” She finally asked.  “We have no idea it is still a mystery to us as well.” The doctor told her. “Well you seem to be doing fine. I would like to keep you overnight for observations. I will just leave you two to talk. Call for a nurse if you need anything.” He told Sasha before leaving the room. Sam still stood on the other side of the room not quite looking at her.  “I’m sorry” Sasha said after a few unbearably quiet minutes. “For not believing you that is.” Sam took a moment before he responded. “Really that is what you are sorry for? How about the fact that you disobey a direct order? Because of that if it wasn’t for Allison you wouldn’t be here. I held your dead body in my arms. I thought I lost you forever and for what? For whatever point you were trying to prove? You risked everything, your life, us, our future, all for what? To prove that you can fight with the rest of us? There was a reason you were told to stay with the women and children. You were human. Your skills meant nothing taking on wolves in the middle of a battle. How could you do something so recless and stupid? Do I mean that little to you? “ Sam was outraged and every word was like a knife plunging into her heart. Holding back her tears Sasha tried to explain herself to him.  “Sam I am so sorry. I felt that it was my duty, same as yours, to fight alongside my Luna. You don’t think I have had the same fears as you? The fear of you not coming home, but I have held my tongue because I know that it is your duty as a Beta. Why is me trying to do my duty any different? Because your fear actually came true? You are right, I am lucky that Allison was there. She was able to save me by turning me. What about you? If you die there is no turning for you. Once you are gone that’s it, and I have to accept that.”  “The difference is you were human and you disobey a direct order. Damn it Sasha I don’t want to fight with you, but you need to know.”  “I need to know what?” Sasha questioned since he stopped so suddenly. Sam took a breath before slowly making his way back to her bedside. Taking her hand in his Sasha felt that electricity once more.  “Sasha we are mates.” Sasha wasn’t all that surprised by Sam’s words. She has been in love with this boy since she could remember. There was no way that anyone else could be her soul mate.  “I know this already you big goof. How could anyone else ever hold my heart? I know that I scared you. I know that fear every time you go out I fear you may not return. I know that you are mad but I’m still here. Let’s put that behind us and focus on the future, our future.  Sasha had many guest’s that day. Even Sam’s parents came to check on her. It was weird, now that she was a wolf they treated her like the daughter they never had. A complete one eighty from how they treated her before. Sasha remembered the night Sam and her told them about their relationship.  Sasha had snuk into Sam’s room later that night after telling his parents about them over dinner. She has climbed through that same window more times than she could count. Sasha never really liked sleeping at her own house because it was so quiet. With her dad gone most of the time and her mom dead. Sasha would find every excuse she could not to have to go back there. So, ever since her mom’s passing, at night Sam and Alex both would leave their windows unlocked for her to sneak into when she needed. After one night of trying to go to Alex’s room. She climbed in on Alex in the middle of a one night stand. After that she always chose Sam’s room over his.  That night while she was getting settled in the comfort of Sam’s arms. Sasha herd comoshion coming from down stairs. Curiosity getting the better of her Sasha snuk out of the room and hid around the corner of the top of the stairs. She could hear the voice clear as day now. They were Sam’s parents. They were going back and forth about. Her.  “How could he be so stupid?” His dad asked.  “Oh now our boy is not stupid. I am sure this is just a faze. Once Samuel sees that he can do so much better he will move on. Just calm down” Sam’s mother spoke “But for him to show the whole pack and every pack that he is okay having a girl of that class on his arm. What high ranking father would want his daughter to marry him? We have to do something. Our son can not have a nobody on his arm.” Sasha wiped the tear that slid down her cheek. She had always thought of the Gonzales as second parents. After her mom died Mrs. Gonzales held her while she cried. To hear them speak of her like that toar her heart in two. Quickly and quietly she made her way back to Sam’s room. She looked at the sleeping Sam before she made her decision. If his parents didn’t want them together she knew that his father would find a way to split them up. So she wasn’t going to give him the chance. Place one last kiss to the side of his face she went to the window. Sasha was half way out when Sam caught her.  “Why are you leaving?” His deep sleep filled voice scared her. She had jumped and lost her balance. Falling out of the window onto the cold hard ground.
