Alpha Chase and his Beautiful Witch

Chapter Five

The drive was quick from the airport, It was  a private landing strip on the property of the Blood Moon Pack and was only 5 minutes from my Aunt and Uncle's house.   Pulling up to the driveway a sense of calm and happiness filled my veins.  Happy memories of holidays here, hot cocoa by the fire, sledding down the slopes and playing with my little cousins, flooded my brain.  I have always loved their house.  It was made from Timber and considering my Uncles position in the pack, it was not ostentatious at all.  In fact from the outside it looked quite simple.  But as we know, looks can be deceiving.  Upon entering you are overwhelmed by the design and beauty of the house.  The large fireplace was roaring, oozing warmth into the main living area.  My aunt quickly walked us up the stairs to the guest area.  They had specifically built this area for our family so that we could visit whenever we wanted.  There were two large bedrooms each with their own on-suite.  Cara and I were always comfortable here, it felt like our second home.  Only now, this would be our home for the foreseeable future.  My Aunt noticed me looking around, immediately she knew what I was looking for.  “The twins are at our friends house, we wanted to give you some space to settle in.”  I smiled back to her warmly, she was always so thoughtful.  

As promised our wardrobe was full of more appropriate clothing for us.  Winter jackets, thermal garments and of course proper shoes for the snow. I also noticed some gorgeous handbags and accessories hanging inside the cupboard.  Both our mouths must have dropped open because my aunt burst out laughing and tried to close our jaws.  “You really have been busy,” we both said at the same time.  My aunt just giggled.  “Now you two girls need to shower and change.  Alpha Richard and his sons will be here in a little while to hear the full story.”  She must’ve noticed the looks on our faces and immediately began to console us. 

 “I know that you are both worried, considering what just happened, I can completely understand.  You must know that Alpha Richard and both his sons, Chase and Kai are good men.  Mates are a very serious thing in this pack, neither of his sons have ever dated or even looked at a she-wolf.  They have been trained to wait for the mates, that a mate is their other half, something to be taken seriously and not taken for granted.  Nothing in this world is more important to them.  Even if they thought you were God’s gift to men, they would never consider rejecting their mates to be with you.  That type of behaviour is unacceptable here.  Most young wolves will travel the world till they find their one and only true love. They are only joining him today as they will be taking over the pack soon.  Two powerful witches joining the pack is something they need to be part of.  

I felt my body start to relax, looking over at Cara I could see that she was relaxing too.  “Have they found their mates yet?” Cara asked the question we were both thinking.  “No” my Aunt replied.  Chase is 21 years old while Kai is 20 years old, they have been waiting for the last few years. Being the biggest pack in the work they assumed they would be mated to someone in this pack.  They have even moved around to other packs to see if their mates were there, unfortunately they still haven’t found them”.  

“What happens if they don’t find their mates?”  Curiosity gets the better of me.  

“It is really sad,  it is forbidden for our Alpha and Beta to be with anyone besides their mate.  If they do not find their mate by the time they are 25 they will need to pick a she wolf to carry their pups.  This would be artificial insemination and the she wolf would have nothing to do with the pups upbringing.  Of course the she wolf would be given the choice to be the person to carry their pups, nothing is ever forced on a woman here.  

My heart began to break.  What a lonely existence for the future Alpha and Beta, especially hearing what wonderful men they were.  I truly hope they find their mates soon so that they can feel whole again.  

My Aunt left us with our thoughts and began preparing some food and hot cocoa for us.  Cara and I took turns showering, neither of us saying anything, just understanding that we both needed to process the enormity of the situation.  My thoughts kept going back to the Alpha’s sons, for some reason My heart could not stop thinking of them.  I felt some strange connection to them even though I had never met them while visiting my Aunt before.  Cara could read my mind and came and sat next to me on the bed.  “You feel the connection too, don’t you?”.  I slowly turned around to look at her, her beautiful blue eyes reflecting my green ones.  “Yes, I am not sure why,  maybe just because they are here to save us, maybe just because of the idea of someone being alone for the rest of their lives just saddens me.”  I replied.  

Cara gave my hand a gentle squeeze.  “Come on, let’s finish getting dressed, they will be here soon and you don’t want our cocoa to get cold.”  She winked at me and walked into the walk-in cupboard to get dressed.  

I quietly got up and followed her in. The house was lovely and warm so I just threw on a pair of jeans with a white cotton long sleeve shirt.  I blow dried my hair, just deciding to leave it natural as I always do, and turned around to see Cara in something similar, except her top was blue.  “Ready?” she said.  I nodded and took her hand.  I don’t know why we always take each other's hands but we have done it ever since I can remember.  Mom and dad feel that it must be from in the womb. We shared one sack so we were probably used to each other's skin.  When Cara is not around, I feel like I am missing something.  She feels the same way too.  She is the only one that can calm me when I feel the fire flowing through my veins.  My parents have told me that when I find my true mate, they will be able to calm me, even on my hardest days.  Just their touch will be enough.  My dad has promised me that my mate can’t be affected by my powers, no matter how cross I get, or how much I lose it, he will be able to hold me, calm me without getting hurt.  I pray to the Moon Goddess that what he says is the truth.  I am so grateful that he managed to get us away from Reis and Leo, I am not sure how my powers would’ve unfolded.  

We can hear voices from the lounge as we start making our way downstairs.  My heart began to pound, I can feel that Cara is feeling the same way as me.  It’s as if something enormous is about to happen.  We look at each other, I can feel the fire in my veins, Cara understands what's happening.  She gently begins to rub small circles on my hand, something that normally helps me calm down and breath.  However this time it's not working, I can feel the voices getting louder and louder, a huge bang, like a door falling over.  My heart rate increases, all I can hear are loud growls as I see flames beginning to burn at the tips of my fingers.  I am staring at them unable to breath, I feel like I am losing myself.  My mother is calling me, Cara is trying to calm me, trying to get me to focus on her but it doesn’t help.  Further down a black abyss I begin to fall, when out of nowhere I feel the most wonderful sensation I have ever felt in my life.  Two enormously strong arms envelope me, tingles begin to fly on my body everywhere they touch.  My breathing begins to slow down, my eyes begin to focus, a voice that sounds like melted chocolate whispers “mine”
