Chapter Eight

733 Words
Emily Walking next to Chase, our fingers intertwined, feels like the most natural movement in the world.  Although I had always learnt about mates and had watched my mother and father together, nothing could prepare me for the intense, magical, bonding emotions running through me.  I knew nothing about him yet I knew everything, it's as if we were one soul that had been separated at birth but spent it’s entire life searching for its other half.  Now that we have, we fit together as if we have never been separated.   The snow is soft below my feet while bits of green are sneakily pushing through the ice, each wanting to sneak a look at the new discovered mates.  The air is cold and should be punishing on my human body, but the warmth from Chase seems to envelope me as if nothing cold could ever get through.   Our parents had decided that we should spend the day together, getting to know the things about each other and deciding how we wanted things to progress.  Luna Shelley, Chase and Kai’s mom had rushed over the minute she had heard the news.  If I thought Aunt Casey was strong, I was sorely mistaken.  She hugged us, well almost crushed us to death.  Kai and Chase were her only sons, the fact that they had found their mates was her greatest joy.  She promised us lots of time together, shopping, nails, coffees and quickly had to be pulled away by her mate so that we could actually breathe.  I could see immediately that Kai had so many of his mother’s features while Chase was an exact replica of his father.  From eyes, to dimples to height.  Chase,.....just thinking of him sent my mind to places that made me blush from embarrassment.   Chase and Kai had decided that the four of us should spend the day together.  Cara and I both breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that they were as close as us made us really happy.  They had wanted to show us where they lived, where we would be living after the mating ceremony.  For some reason Chase was really nervous the entire ride over, Cara was sending me messages that Kai seemed nervous too.  We were both wondering what they were hiding, did they have a side like Reis and Leo, could they even hide that from us.  We were all silent in the car, lost in our own thoughts and concerns.   Pulling up to a beautiful timber home, I was thinking if this was Chase or Kai’s home when Chase began to speak.  “Before we go any further, we want to tell you both something.” My heart rate began to pick up, Chase could sense it and grabbed my fingers, placing soft gentle kisses on my knuckles. “It’s nothing terrible I promise”, he whispered, placing more kisses until my heart rate was back to normal.   “Kai and I have always been close, so close that we find it hard to live apart.”.  A small smile began to creep onto my face.  When we decided to move out of the pack house my father offered to give us two pieces of prime land to build our own houses.  That way when we found our mates we could be set up already.  We decided against it, we decided to build a house together that could easily work for both of us and our families.” Chase stopped, waiting for us to process what he had said.  I was so happy, Cara and I couldn’t bear to be away from each other, the idea that we had found mates that felt the same way, was amazing.  Chase could sense my happiness and smiled, his beautiful smile, dimples and all.  “This makes you happy then?” he continued a little nervously.  Cara and I both nodded.  He quickly got out of the car and was next to my side in what seemed like a split second.  He gently took my hand and pulled me into his chest, the sparks and tingles were flying through our bodies “I have waited so long for you, finally…...and you’re perfect.” He whispered, placing a gentle kiss on my forehead.   He intertwined our fingers as we walked hand in hand on the soft snow towards what would be our house.
