AMARA “I, Alpha Brian of Darkmoon hereby challenge, Alpha Kyle of Silverhide for the right to mate Amara Layla Smith.” Shock again filled the entire room as Brian just spat those words out of his mouth with no hesitations. Is he serious? “He is Ame,” Taryn replied as my thought. “Why would he do that Taryn? He rejected me remember?” “I’m surprised as you are Ame. Whatever he’s thinking, it clearly looks like he wants us back.” I looked at everyone in the room. My father and Alpha James’s face were both planted with surprise and frustration, both my mother and Luna Christine were giving the same look, even my brother and Beta Andre; and more importantly Kyle, I could see his face filled with anger that looks like he’s just had enough of what’s happening. “Are you f*****g serious? Can’t you just leave them be?” Nikolai spat but Brian didn’t seem to be bothered. “He really doesn’t seem to understand about the word ‘concede’. He just went and made things more complicated.” I heard Kean comment as he rubbed his temple with a tiresome look at his face.  “Alpha” I heard Alpha James speak up. “Are you sure that you’re still thinking properly son? Because what you just said cannot be taken lightly.” He said with his Alpha tone and Brian looked at me. “Alpha. I’ll say it for the millionth time. At that moment, I was just thinking about Amara’s well-being. I myself know that I could never deserve someone like her.” He replied. “All I wanted what’s best for her and not just some guy that’s tainted. I didn’t expect that she would accept my rejection right away without even asking me why. She didn’t fight it.” He looked at me with sorrow in his eyes, it’s as if he was asking me to take him back after what he’s done. I could hear Kyle hiss at the moment. He focused his gaze on me as he continued, “The moment you accepted my rejection I felt the bond break and it was the most painful night that I could ever imagine. Wrapping my body around silver chains wouldn’t be enough to describe it. My wolf didn’t want to talk to me anymore, not until today, where I felt his presence again just because you’re near. I still-“ “AMARA.IS.MINE!” Kyle growled but Brian was unfazed. “Why can’t you f*****g get it into your thick skull that she already belongs to me? Moon Goddess knew that you would do such a thing so she gave MY ANGEL to me. Any f*****g werewolf would understand that but clearly not you!” Kyle ran his fingers into his silky dark hair, Goddess, is he really this hot when angry? I should- what the f**k Ame? Focus. “Alpha, with all due respect. I have to agree with Kyle on this one. First, you decided to reject my sister and now you want her back. Couldn’t you have just thought it through before even saying a word the moment both of you met? Because it’s causing all of this mess to happen because of your vague decision.” My brother took a deep breath. “Among all of the wolves, it had to be my sister. MY SISTER where she could have deserved more than just a rejection slapped right into her face, right at the moment she met her first mate.” “Son, you need to stand down and let Alpha Kyle and Lady Amara be. We don’t need to discuss this over and over again.” Alpha James told Brian, but instead of listening he again stood up from his chair. Kyle stood up from his seat completely facing Brian but instead of trying to rip each other’s face off, they stood there in complete silence which made everybody in the room look to them with alert just in case something happens. “I, Alpha Brian of Darkmoon hereby challenge, Alpha Kyle of Silverhide for the right to mate Amara Layla Smith.” Brain repeated his statement, “Didn’t you hear me Alpha? Or are you too scared to take me on?” He said as he looked at Kyle with seriousness, both fighting for supremacy. Kyle looked down his feet and c****d his head while biting his cheek as a smile formed from his face. “Tchhh…yeah I heard you….Alpha” Kyle replied as he continued his death stare. “but why can’t you just accept the fact that Amara is already mine? You can’t really expect me to give her back to you after you’ve just wasted Goddess’s precious gift, you could’ve done better.” “She belongs to you alright,” Brian c****d his head and smirked, “but both of you haven’t mated nor even marked each other. The wolf law states that an unmarked or unmated she-wolf that has more than one suitor who claims to be her mate would still be a fair field.” I look to them with concern, this is serious. Brian isn’t giving up and neither is Kyle, their Alpha auras are competing for dominance making the whole room eerily quiet. “I challenge you for her. Once and for all we will get to see who clearly belongs to Amara.” Brian nodded at Kyle urging him to answer. Soon enough, Kyle took a deep breath looked down as a smirk formed on his face as he faced Brian with an answer. “I, Kyle Christian Harris, Alpha of the Silverhide pack hereby accept your challenge.” Kyle didn’t stammer, everybody in the room was left speechless of the answer, you could hear the birds chirping from outside. “What the hell?! A challenge?! You know that I’m not just a trophy piece that the both of you would kill each other for! Dad? Alpha James? Please do something!” Reaching my limit, I finally reacted to the situation. “Sorry young lady.” Alpha James looked at me. “Wha-? Dad? Why? Don’t let them do this.” I turned to my father for his answer. “I’m sorry Ame. It’s the law and it’s absolute. I faithfully abide by it and we can’t do anything about it to change their decisions.” My father said as worry took over my body as I look over to my mate. Goddess among all the she-wolves that could have this problem, why did it have to be me?   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KYLE “I, Kyle Christian Harris, Alpha of the Silverhide pack hereby accept your challenge.” The whole room fell silent at my response, I didn’t stutter and didn’t like going back and forth discussing about who gets to claim Amara, because I already know she’s mine, but this mutt doesn’t know his place and stand down. Surely this has shut his mouth. The silence continued when my Angel finally burst out in frustration. “What the hell?! A challenge?! You know that I’m not just a trophy piece that the both of you would kill each other for! Dad? Alpha James? Please do something!” She asks my father and hers. “Sorry young lady.” My father told my Angel. I could see the sadness in her eyes “Wha-? Dad? Why? Don’t let them do this.” She begged. “I’m sorry Ame. It’s the law and it’s absolute. I faithfully abide by it and we can’t do anything about it to change their decisions.” Alpha Liam stated. That’s right Brian, you wanted to play this game then so be it. I’ll challenge you for Amara no matter what the cost and I won’t let you win her back. I could feel her looking at me and Brian before she went around the table and came into my arms and gave me the tightest hug, she was crying. “Kyle, don’t do this please.” She nuzzled her head in my chest as I hear her muffled voice. “I’m sorry Angel, but I have to. Don’t worry everything is going to back to normal and I’ll come back to you.” I lifted her face, wiped away her tears with my hands, and kissed her temple. I could hear Brian growling at our little moment of affection there, but sorry not sorry mutt, she knows where she belongs. I heard Alpha Liam clear his throat which made me break free of Amara’s embrace. He looked at me and Brian and gave a deep sigh. “Alpha’s, since the both of you decided to challenge each other for the right to mate my daughter, I’m going to be clear that this kind of challenge isn’t to be taken lightly.” He told us and we both nodded our heads. “Since Alpha Brian evoked the challenge, it would be up to you to decide when are you going to start the challenge, and since Amara still belongs to the Yellow Moon pack, the fight will be held here at the pack grounds.” My father added. I thought about it for a moment when I finally decided. “Alpha James. Father.”  I nod to them both, “I think around this time tomorrow would be best.” I turn to look at Brian and smirked, “Just to give Alpha Brian here a little warm-up before the fight.” He hissed at what I said and giving me vexed stares. “Enough the both of you.” My mother told me as I raised both of my hands. “Alright, that settles this. Alpha Kyle, Alpha Brian a challenge will happen here in Yellow Moon at the same hour as today. Do you understand?” Alpha Liam asked. “Understood, Alpha,” I answer. Brian didn’t confirm but his silence already means yes. “Everyone, let’s adjourn this meeting for today. Thank you all for coming.” Alpha Liam told everyone in the room as we all headed out. Brian didn’t waste time in going out first and intentionally bumping my shoulders on the way out. “An ‘excuse me’ would have been better,” I said out loud as he turned around and went straight for me face to face looking at me up and down. “I’m not going to let you take her.” “You’re going to have to kill me for that, and I don’t give up without a fight.” My eyes turned pitch black as I gave him one last look and growl at his face before he turned his back on me and left along with his Beta. We were about to leave the packhouse yet again. I hated being separated from my Angel, I couldn’t bear a single day without her touch. It’s f*****g torture with all that’s happening. “Damn, fam. All of this fracas is making my head spin. Pierce is gonna want to hear this, he got too busy with Mary.” Kean told me as we were heading out the veranda. “I know and it f*****g sucks. Why couldn’t that mutt just give it up? I mean, he rejected her and now he wants her back? He’s f*****g demented.” I tell Kean leaning my back onto one of the railings and saw my Angel looking at me on her bedroom window. I can feel her wanting my presence and her scent is driving me crazy. “Fam, where are my father and mother?” I asked Kean. “Guess they are still talking to Alpha Liam and Luna Martine why?” He asked. “If they try to go, stall them for a minute,” I tell Kean as I went inside the packhouse once more to go see my Angel. I went up the stairs, and there she already was at the top waiting for me with tear streaks in her eyes. When I finally got to her, I wrapped my arms around her small frame once more as I felt her crying into my chest. “Kyle, please don’t do it…” she told me. “Oh Angel, you know I can’t do anything anymore. I accepted the challenge and I must try to fight for your hand. You won’t lose me, I promise.” I tell her as I once more cupped her cheeks and gave her a passionate kiss, it was just like yesterday. Before I knew it, Kean was already mind-linking me about my whereabouts and I had to leave. “Angel, I have to go. They’re looking for me.” I tell her as I finally let go of our kiss and left one on her temple. “I’ll be seeing you again tomorrow.” I took one last look at her and hurriedly went out of the packhouse and to our car. The drive back to Silverhide was going to take a while. I looked out the window as I thought about what just happened. I won’t ever let her go, I just can’t lose my Angel. Goddess, don’t make me lose her. I have waited long enough to have her, I will do whatever it takes to keep her by my side.
