CHAPTER XVII

AMARA

My brother and I were now starting to head back to the packhouse after spending a little sibling time with our wolves in the forest.

“Hey, Ame. The last one to the house is a rotten egg!” My brother immediately dashed into the forest before realizing what he said and ran as fast as I could to catch up to him.

“Nikko! You didn’t even count to three!” I mind-linked him.

“You should have listened when I tol-“ he suddenly stopped midway when he suddenly bolted and left Taryn and me eating his dust.

“Hey! Wait up!” I tried to chase after him.

I tried to mind link Nikko again, but it seems that he doesn’t want to answer me at the moment. There’s got to be a reason why he ran away that fast, could there be trouble back at the packhouse? I continued running as I slowly arrived the training field. Before Taryn and I shifted, I grabbed a shirt and a pair of basketball shorts that were supposed to be used for the men after training but it’ll have to do for now.

“It’s quiet. So that means no trouble happened.” I spoke to myself as I slowly walked along the path to the packhouse’s veranda.

“Nikko... “ I swear he could hear me but he didn’t reply.

As I approached the veranda, I saw Blaze white as paper standing awkwardly out in the open. I wiped my sweat on my forehead using the shirt and tried to talk to him, what is he looking at?

“Hi Blaze what’s up with you? Have you seen my… EM?!” Surprise and shock took over my body as I looked a little to my right and there, I saw my brother kissing my best friend Emily. I swear my voice was loud enough to make them hear me, they did and they both stop. Seeing them break free of their kiss made me remember how Kyle and I kissed at his party, my brother looked at EM like she was the only person that mattered in the world.

Wait… that could only mean… HOLY s**t!

I look to them with shock and Blaze was beside me bowing his head to my brother, I must have missed an episode here and I want to know answers.

“Hi….Ame…” EM now waved at me shyly but I didn’t reply to her yet but I looked at my brother and tried to find the answer I was expecting.

“Nikko….She couldn’t be… is she?...” I gave Nikko a look to give me an answer.

“She is…” Nikko went over to Emily and scooped her up so easily and fixed his eyes on her and said, “My mate…”

“Young lady… how did you get here?” My mother said while planting her hand on her face as she worriedly asked EM.

“Ame gave me an address” she answered and everybody was looking at me funny. Mom, Dad, Beta Andre, Blaze; and Nikko couldn’t care less, his eyes were glued to Em.

“I said ‘FOR EMERGENCIES’ Emily, today is not an emergency.” I explained to her, “Why didn’t you just call me before you came here? I would have had a heads-up.”

“I did, and all of it went straight to your voicemail. Check your phone later sis.” s**t. I went running with Taryn earlier, I purposely left my phone.

My father took a deep breath, I guess he’s had enough of what just happened this morning and now this. Nikko is mated to a human, and not just any human, it's my best friend.

“I thought this place was heavily secured?” He told Blaze and Beta Andre.

“My apologies Alpha, it was my lapses.” Blaze told my father as he bowed his head to him “I turned off the security just for a while to manually check them, I guess the young lady arrived just at the right timing when I was about finalizing everything.”

“Apologize to her properly Blaze.” Nikko suddenly looks at Blaze and tells him to do so.

“Alpha-“

“Just do it…” Nikko looks at Blaze as he stood up from where he sat and sent to Emily.

“Luna, I apologize for what I did to you earlier. Had I known.” He bowed his head at Em who clearly had little experience on how to react to him.

“What should I do?” She mouthed me.

“Just say, no problem and it’s okay” I mouthed her back.

“It’s alright…uhh.. Blaze, nothing to worry about. I’m fine.” Em told Blaze as he held his head up and gave his thank you.

“Young lady…” my father called the attention of Emily.

“Sir…oh.. Alpha, I’m sorry…” s**t. I thought as I facepalmed myself.

“Are you aware of our kind?” He told her seriously.

“Yes.” Her answer shook the people in the room.

“Everyone please, and I believe that my daughter has told you about us? Werewolves.” My father made his sentence clear enough for Emily.

“She did and she made it clear to me that I shouldn’t visit here when it’s not important. I’m sorry if I caused you all trouble.” She looked at everyone in the room and then at me but I reassured her with an ‘it’s okay’ and a thumbs up.

“Dearest… don’t say that. You didn’t cause trouble here, we normally don’t allow humans to come here because of the risk that they may expose us but since you kept your word with my sister, I see no trouble at all.” My brother caressed Em's cheek and looked at her so lovingly. Goddess, I wish Kyle was here.

My father, mother, Nikolai, and the others continued discussing Emily’s stay here in Yellow Moon since she is apparently going to be the future Luna of this pack, the first Luna to be human. Both of us stayed in my room for the time being while the Omegas were preparing her and Kyle’s room nearby.

We talked about a lot of things that happened in our separate lives. Em went first and told me that her college was getting tougher and tougher in giving presentations and homework’s that she had to finish before the deadlines. She also told me about a couple of suitors here and there but she rejected their motives, she even told me that she had a really strong urge to visit me today that’s why she’s here. I guess Moon Goddess worked her magic for her and Kyle.

I filled in the details of what happened after the party and all the drama that happened just this morning before she came. She was shocked about the part when Brian tried to challenge Kyle to see who would win my hand. I poured out everything to this b***h, she’s a sister that I never had but I’m thankful that Goddess fated us to become best friends.

“Damn, Ame. Our lives really changed after we graduated high school.” Em stated.

“Yeah, all of it was unexpected, but I’m really thankful too.” I smiled at my BFF.

“Why?”

“Because my brother finally found someone that he could spend his entire life with, you know what? He told me that he was envious of my situation and he wanted to meet you sooner and voila… you came just in time.” I look at her.

“Aww… thanks Ame, but…”

“But what?”

“As much as I would love to become part of your pack, I still have a lot to understand about werewolves… could you maybe walk me through?.....”

“YES! HAHAHAHAHA” I shrieked as I got up from bed and spent the rest of the time touring her around the packhouse and explaining everything. Goddess, thank you for making my best friend my brother’s mate. He finally has someone he could take care of for the rest of his life and now, I could truly call Emily my sister.

KYLE

“What an arse..” Pierce answered Kean after he told him the details about the events that just happened earlier.

“Yeah, that taco head went ahead and challenged Kyle, and for what? A mate that he rejected in the first place and now, he wants her back again.”

“Guess he got desperate, but if I were him, I would really try to stop forcing myself on someone that already belongs to another,” Pierce replied.

While Kean and Pierce were still having their conversation, I was standing near my office window thinking about my Angel, and how she’s doing today after I left. All I could think of was her seeing that she was crying and telling me to not continue with the challenge. I couldn’t get her sad lonely face out of my head, I wanted to be with her and wipe her tears away from her face and tell her everything is okay. I should’ve just gone ahead and started the fight back at Yellow Moon to get things over with.

“Kyle…” I heard Kean call me.

“Yup?”

“You okay fam? You seem a little lost in thought.”

“Yeah..” I took a deep sigh and continued to look outside “I am.”

“You sound and look like you aren’t,” Pierce added.

“Honestly? The whole situation is giving me a headache. I don’t mind being a second chance mate, what really bothers me is that prick Brian.” I put my hands on my table and put my head down in frustration “He just couldn’t see that I’m already Amara’s mate and it was really clear to him that Amara truly chose me as her rightful mate.”

“Maybe Goddess is trying to let both of you and Brian learn something,” Pierce stated.

“Hmmm? Enlighten me fam…” I look at him as he tried to continue.

“One, Brian needs to learn more on how to think clearly of his decisions before he acts them out. He also needs to know that you cannot take it back once you rejected your destined mate once he/she finds a second chance. In short, he needs clarity and acceptance in his life.” Wow, since when did he become this kind of person?

“Two, of course, fam, you. Since you’re a second chance mate to Amara then, you have to do whatever it takes to keep her. Goddess saw that you waited long enough for a mate and she might have thought that Amara, who just got her heart broken, deserves someone like you who's more than willing to treat her better than Brian.” Pierce finally ended his statement and left I and Kean dumfounded at what he just said. He wasn’t even with us earlier this morning, and what he just said made was on-point.

“Pierce? Where did all that come from?” Kean finally asked while he put his hand on Pierce’s shoulder.

“I don’t know dude, that’s what I thought so I said it.” He shrugged.

“What you thought? What you said was some deep shit.” Kean told him “What happened to you? What has Mary done to you.” Kean now held Pierce with both of his hands and started shaking him. Absolute children.

“What the f**k? She didn’t do nothing fam!” Pierce added.

“Well you don’t normally say things like that, so you kinda took us both by surprise Pierce,” I told him.

“Well yeah, I know and ever since I met Mary, my life changed fam. I just got happier and more eager to do everything for her.” Pierced stated as he started to put his hair into a bun revealing a mark on this neck and again shook both I and Kean.

“YOU ALREADY MARKED EACH OTHER?” Kean exploded with eyes wide in shock.

“OH! Yeah I was about to tell you but I forgot hehe.”

“So that’s why you missed out earlier this morning because you were ‘BUSY’…” Kean then punched Pierce’s shoulder “You sly dog..”

“I had to do it, she is mine and I am hers, what more to wait?” Pierce said as Kean continued to goad over Pierce.

‘she is mine and I am hers, what’s more, to wait?’ I replayed what Pierce said in my head. Both of my men are very lucky in their respective relationships, nothing bad happened to them, and no complications while I was stuck in the waiting game and a challenge.I wish I could do that to my Angel already and claim her for the rest of my life, but because of a little dilemma, it’s preventing me to do so. All of that has to wait until after the challenge was over. That is if I get to win or not. Goddess, I rely on you to give me strength and keep me at my feet to fight for Amara.
