You're Mine

Inside a nouveau riche mansion sat a young girl of 18 years old on the floor of a fairly small room arranging her belongings. Compared to the outside appearance of the mansion, the halls and the other upper rooms, the girl's room looked quite out of place. The room had just been dusted and wiped. Apart from a small wardrobe by the far corner, a small bed by which the girl sat beside, plus the desk beside the bed the room was very empty. As she was arranging the the things to put into the the wardrobe, a knock came at the door. Even today too they wouldn't let me off was the words the girl said to herself. She sighed, "Come in" A young woman entered wearing a maid's attire entered. She looked at the room and the girl on the floor with unhidden ridicule and disdain. The young woman spoke impatiently and with obvious rudeness " Miss Spark, Master and Mistress wants you at the Inner Hall right now" she turned and walked without waiting for the girl's reply. With a deep sigh, the girl got up to go to the Inner Hall. On arrival, she found the the Master and Mistress the young woman spoke of plus another young girl not much older than herself. "Dad, you called me." She bowed and greeting before the man. "Anna, take a seat." The man pointed the space beside the other girl. Before her butt could hit the sofa, the woman whom the maid addressed as Mistress' voice rang out. "John, honey, look at her. How could you allow her to sit beside our dear Bervylyn. She look so dirty. Look how tattered her clothes are, as if we don't take care of her. What will people say if they saw this? " She wiped her non-existent tears, acting like an aggrieved woman. The girl called Anna couldn't help but laugh bitterly in her heart. The other girl called Bervylyn moved to the far end of the sofa. And she did in a manner as if she's moving away from something ugly and disgusting. No emotions shown on Anna's face as she was used to the scorn and demeaning words and actions of this mother and daughter pair. To avoid more insults, she decided to just stand. A t least, before her father, they couldn't do any bad to her. John Spark, the Master of the house and the husband and father to the three women in the Inner Hall sighed in his heart as he proceeded as if he didn't hear his wife's words neither did he see whatever that happened. "Anna, as you already, we moved hear in order to take the family business a step further. " Before her father could even get to the main point, Anna had already had a bad premonition. "We've successfully contracted a partner but he has some terms. " Strong warning started to ring in Anna's heart. She's knew this news wasn't going to be favourable to her. "For him to partner up with us? One of my daughters has fo into a contractual marriage with his youngest son. Your elder sister doesn't want to do it so now the responsibility falls on you. I hope you'll not let me down Marianna. " And there the bomb landed. She knew she wasn't going to like this news. Also for the fact that her ever power and money hungry sister refused this proposal, then there's something wrong with the boy. That's the only reason why this task would be handed to her. Now, her dream of finding someone who'll love to take her away from this horrible life has been ruined. But she knew she couldn't refuse, she'd promise her mother to always listen to her father. Moreover the fact her father used her full meant there wasn't any room for discussion. Also, maybe it wouldn't be that bad. As long as the boy leaves her she'll be happy, she'll not care about whatever happens in his life as long as it doesn't affect her. With these thoughts in mind, she bowed to her father and said " okay, Father" A smile instantly bloomed on her stepmother's face. "Good girl, now you're finally become of some worth. You should thank your elder sister given you this opportunity. With your standard, you'd never find another man such high status. " " Yes, mother. Thank you sister" she spoke softly with a calm expression, not revealing any of her thoughts or emotions. "Oh, it's nothing." Bervylyn smiled and waved her hands as if she has done some good thing worthy of praise. Anna turned to her father again. "Dad, please can I take my leave?" "Yes dear, you can go. " Anna didn't need to be told twice. She immediately left for her room without sparring her stepmother and elder sister a glance. She had a lot of things to do in her room. Although she didn't have much, she wanted her new room to be as honest as possible. Next week she'll be going for college. She had to prepare herself well. Although she knew college might not be nay different from her high school experience, sh couldn't help but to be excited. Back in high school, she was bullied as per normal. Bervylyn is only a few days older than her so they went to the same and we're also in the same level. Bervylyn was popular and had a lot of friends where as she was shunned and bullied because they are was weird. Of course, Bervylyn was the mastermind behind the rumours. She was also the one who bullied her the most. Because she couldn't bully her much in the house because of their father, she made sure to make school a living hell for her. And this time also, they would be going to the same school, although different courses, she was positive her sister would surely find ways and means to cause her trouble. But still, she couldn't help but to excited for the new experience. Maybe she'll make friends, well that big maybe. Oh well, if she's been able to come thus far on her own then a few more years wouldn't matter. She folded her things neatly into her new wardrobe. She also arranged her books,pens, and other stationaries beautifully on her bedside desk. She also took up a brush and a set of colours to paint a forest view on her walls, with beautiful flowers in between. The painting looked a absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. With the animal, flowers, rivers displayed with the trees, the forest painting looked alive. Her room took a 360° turn. So much that those who'd been in it before would feel that entered the wrong room if they were to enter again. In her room before at their old house. She'd only painted the walls with flowers and cute animals because there were some woods behind they're house. She just couldn't afford to be without nature. In this new neighbourhood , they're only a few trees and flowers on the walkways and trees for beautification only. As she was feeling nostalgic, she decided to create her own nature in room. Although it wouldn't give that wonderful breath of nature, it'll make her feel comfortable in her environs.
