What the f**k were they doing?

As soon as I had woken from my nap, my wolf started to ride me hard. Shouting and growling in my ear that Anna was in trouble and needed me. I had shifted in my wolf and bolted; running faster than I ever had before.                                                                                                                  

Was it hours?, maybe even a day but all I knew was one minute I was myself, waking up and the next; I had wolfed out and running at a speed I didn’t think was possible. I fought within myself about Anna even as I ran towards her, my heart pounding at her being in trouble; needing me when I wasn’t there. I hated myself for leaving her, for hurting her as I did. I couldn’t help it! I hurt and so I hurt those around me too.

I must have fazed out because when I came to (while still running as wolf) I realised that I was not far away. Tolken was snorting at me, proud that he had managed to somehow push me to the back of my own thoughts and body and taken over so thoroughly that I was lost for a few hours until I was close enough to feel Anna. When I felt pain, tension and fire in my body; I knew something was seriously wrong! I pushed myself, my paws pounding on the floor to get to her. As I rounded the corner of the building and slipped passed the security gate that was just closing after another car, I ran to the door as I heard someone scream ‘oh my god, a shifter wolf’

I had just changed into my human self, all naked in my glory when the very air around me clogged with tension and evil. I didn’t know what it was but my wolf was snapping its teeth in my head and the hair on my body stood up.

“You’re a shifter?”

I turned to look around and saw Tara looking at me in shock before blushing and averting her eyes

“How do I get in?” I asked as I pushed at the front door

“One second” She said before running up and taking out a set of keys; opening the door.

I pushed past her and rushed up the stairs, my heart pounding.

“Wait! You’re naked!” Tara shouted as she followed me

I didn’t care! Anna needed me. Instinct took me to her door, my breath huffing out in fear, my body sweating at what I might find. Just as I pushed open the door, Anna screamed out in pain and I called out for her

“Annnaaaaa!” I shouted

My eyes grew wind in shock. She was chained down on the bed, her arms and legs spread out, cuffed. Her hair in disarray and Deedee standing above her with …….a f*****g dagger near her chest! What the f**k? I rush over to her and push Deedee out of the way just as Anna slumps over, unconscious. I reach over and pull at the cuffs, breaking them easily. I hear people behind me but I ignore them as I release Anna’s unconscious body; my anger flaring through me.

“He’s naked” A lady gasped

“You’re back” Deedee whispered

I let out a chilling growl and looked down at Anna’s closed eyes and sucked in a breath. Her face was pale and pinched, as if she was still in some sort of pain. There were deep shadows under her eyes, as if she hadn’t been sleeping for months and her body felt frail; her normally shiny hair was dull and limp and thin What the f**k? If I didn’t know better, I would have thought she had been ill for weeks and yet, she didn’t look like this when we spent those two days together. Then, she practically glowed! Looking at her now, she looks like a damn corpse!

“What the f**k did you all do to her?” I asked angrily

“WE didn’t do anything...you did” A man who I didn’t know said

“What the f**k are you talking about?” I shout as I pull Anna closer

Already I can see a change in her, her cheeks now becoming tinged with colour, her breath while shallow; was breathing easier. But her eyes still stayed close.

“Jason” Deedee said as she now approached the bed

“Don’t come closer. You were going to f*****g kill her. I saw you!” I shouted, my eyes switching between me and my wolf

“NO!” Deedee said with a cry “No...no, you have it all wrong. Look, please; just lay her down and let them help. I will explain everything”

“Hell no!” I said as I gathered Anna closer “ I don’t trust any of you”

”What about me?” Tara said as she approached me cautiously “I came to help because Deedee called me before….whatever was happening here. Let me help at least”

I looked at them all cautiously as the other three people started to talk among themselves and walk slowly near the door. I wanted to rip their heads off , the anger in me making the hairs on my body grow and retract back. I nodded at Anna as she passed Deedee who was wringing her hands together

“Uh...you’re still naked” Tara said as she got closer to the bed

I shrugged my shoulders, not caring about something so petty. As Tara felt Anna’s pulse, I saw Deedee approach me and I growl. She stops where she is and holds out her hand

“Th...they were my Tanniem’s…..I mean, my mates old clothes” Deedee explained

When I didn’t move, Tara walked over and took the clothes before giving them to me before helping me to place Anna onto the bed again. I pull on the trousers while staring down Deedee, not bothering with the blue button-down shirt.

“What the hell was going on?” I ask

It’s not my stor-” Deedee started

“I don’t give a f**k!” I roared, cutting her off “Tell me!”

“Deedee, just tell him. Tell him the truth!” Tara said

“You know?” I asked, looking at her in surprise

“This part….of why she’s like this, yes” Tara nodded

“Tell me!” I growl louder, looking back at Deedee

“Ok. But understand that there are things I can’t tell you because I have yet to even tell Anna of them” Deedee said

I raised an eyebrow at her, my body taut with anger. I nod after a while and Deedee sighed

“Anna is…..special. Don’t ask how, at least not yet. As you know, I raised her. She is not my daughter but she is my blood. I have kept a lot of secrets from her but only for her safety. So that wasn’t traumatised from the actions of others” Deedee said

“You said she helped with Celine. How?” I asked, folding my arms

“When we found out about Celine and what she did to you…” Deedee cut off

“To me?” I asked, shocked

“Yes alpha. I know about how Celine took your mate and child from you. As a high witch, we are what you can call the queen. There are many covens around the world. But there can only ever be one high witch at any given time. An alpha queen, or like you’re Sophie - an equivalent to a supreme” Deedee explained

“How do you know of Sophie? Of what she is?” I asked, my mouth opening in shock

“I know many things and not all that can be voiced right now. I was visited by your moon goddess three months before that fight in Wales” Deedee said gently

“Three months?! Are you telling me that you could have saved my pup and mate and CHOSE not to?” I asked, blood rushing to my face as I heated up in anger.

“No alpha. We were not informed of what was going to happen. Only that Celine had started to become a problem and she had started to delve into seriously dark magick. I didn’t want to accept it” Deedee said sadly

“Why not?” I asked, my hands fisting as I tried hard to keep my skin

“Many years ago, after myself; Celine had been selected to be the next high witch. She had great potential. But, one of the key elements of being a high witch is not to delve into dark magick. The high witch must be pure of heart so she may make choices and sessions without greed of the soul or mind. Celine failed when she chose otherwise. She trained under me for years, learning all I had to give. Her failure was my doing” Deedee teared up

“No Deedee. It wasn’t. We all know that it is a choice. Even when offered the apple, it was her choice to take it” Tara said

“I didn’t know the extent of Celine’s depravity. I only knew she was becoming stronger in the wrong way. So, after speaking with the moon goddess; I sent Anna and a few other’s to her, to learn what she was doing. To help gather information so we could try and sentence her to imprisonment” Dee walked and sat at the edge of the bed

“What did Anna do?” I asked, my teeth clenched

“At first it was minimal contact. Mainly helping with cleaning and putting things away...some of the others were asked to perform household duties. When she went to Wales, Anna had become invaluable to her as Celine discovered Anna could draw blood and perform small spells. Anna was disguised to appear non-threatening and was meant to come back long before the fight but she felt responsible. She couldn’t leave. She got caught in the cross-fire when Celine battled against you’re Sophie and Magnus. She released Kelsie and others when they were chained and imprisoned. She also helped by tampering with one of Celine’s positions” Deedee explained

“She what?” I asked, my mind blown

“Yes” Deedee nodded “Celine had to use a particular spell in order for the dagger to be used correctly. This spell required not just her own blood but the blood of a willing victim...a willing victim who also agreed to have their blood used with evil or bad intent”

“You mean Tasha’s blood” I whispered

Nodding, Deedee looked at me sadly “But, Anna cut her hand and mixed her own blood within this vile. The spell was fractured as Anna had used her blood for purification and not evil intent. The spirits and demons were confused. That’s why the dagger was able to be fazed away for a short while”

“Fazed?” I asked, confused

“The dagger can’t be used by anyone except it’s bloodline or the one who has accepted it’s blood oath. See, even as a high witch, you have potential to be corrupted. You can use the dagger to either be of help or to cause harm; but to do so, you give it your own blood. The dagger is crafted out from the rocks of the middle. A place where heaven and hell meet. A place of in-between. But either way, either act; will come with a price. Anna’s blood tainted Celine’s action and the dagger, and for a short time allowed someone else to wield it. Sophie was able to take the dagger to Celine’s son who was able to use it to end Celine”

“No” I said, shaking my head “She’s still alive. I know it”

“No alpha. I swear to you. She is not” Deedee tried to tell me

I knew Deedee was lying and I wanted to tell her how I knew she was. How Celine’s scent was still around me and in this area and home. I shook my head, disregarding her words

“That doesn’t explain what was happening here” I growl out

“When you left, Anna’s health declined. Her heart broke and with it, her body” Deedee said simply

“Why?” I asked, surprised

“Because, you didn’t complete the mating alpha. Anna found her other half of her soul. You. You spent two days in a mating heat, you bit her but it was only your wolf who mated with her. You didn’t. You left her in as a broken shell” Deedee explained

My eyes bulged, my mouth dried. I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t think. My head started to pound even as Tolken seemed to agree with what the witch said.

“No..your wrong. We had s*x. We f****d” I said crudely “But I only have one mate and she was taken from me”

“No alpha. Tasha had been your mate. When she committed the act of betrayal against you, her connection to you was severed. The outcome written and you were given a second chance mate” Deedee said, holding her hand out to me

“NOO…..NOO!” I shouted louder “that’s not possible! I only have one mate and that is Tasha!”

“She WAS you’re mate….but Anna is your second chance mate” Tara said

My mind was shutting down, the pain of loss was too much. My head and my heart couldn’t accept what I was being told and I wanted to howl out in rage

“Alpha” Deedee implored “Anna is your equal, your true mate in every sense”

“She can’t be” I whispered Tolken disagreeing with me

“She is” Tara said stiffly

“She can’t be” I shouted louder

“Alpha” Deedee started “The only reason Anna collapsed into a coma was because you both couldn’t complete the mating. There is another reason for that, an error on my part which I hope to rectify soon. But also from your side because you are punishing yourself for what happened to Tasha and until you forgive yourself and allow yourself to move on….you will never be complete and Anna needs you to be. Her very life depends on it”

“Her life? What?” I asked

“Anna needs you to accept her for her. She can’t be a substitute for what you have lost. Please...love her for her. Accept her. Accept who she is to you. Anna is your mate” Deedee said strongly

I couldn’t speak. My mind was racing, my hearts was pounding and I was feeling sick. SO many unanswered questions. So much information...lies and secrets intertwined!

“Reach out to her. You’re the only one who can pull her back from this darkness. She won’t wake up until you help her” Deedee said

Deedee got up and started to walk to the door, her movement still and slow

“If I had used the dagger on her, it would have taken her blood as payment and allowed her to be healed. But it would have come at a price. The kind that would torment, tempt and speak to her forever. But you….you can heal her….bring her back from where she has gone to without any of that” Deedee explained

“How?” I asked even though I didn’t believe it

“Your wolf alpha. He knows how to find her” Deedee said

What the f**k? How would my wolf know? Deedee was mistaken.

“Look-” I started

“Your wolf will know how to find his half of the mate. Because you see, Anna is also half wolf and is waiting to meet her mate; your wolf Tolken” Deedee said before leaving the room

“WHAT” I roared, turning to look at Tara who had pulled up the covers to Anna’s chest, I sent her a shocked look “You guys are half shifter’s?”

“Not me. Just Anna” Tara said as she too started to walk out of the room “there’s a lot more you don’t know but know this. Anna felt sparks as soon as you touched her and she hasn’t been the same since. Your wolf knows how to save her, you don’t. In my book, that makes you unworthy of her and for hurting her as you did. Bring her back and reject her. Then leave and never come back”

“Y..you what?” I asked, shocked not even the right word

“Deedee thinks you’re the right guy for her” Tara sighed “I don’t. I did until you abandoned her after f*****g her for two days and getting what you wanted from her”

“Hey!” I growl, angry she dared to degrade Anna in such a way, never mind that I did it too not long ago

“Fact” Tara said “I can tell you don’t want to accept Anna. So bring her back, reject her so she can move on and then leave”

“Who are her parents? Where are they? Why is Deedee taking care of her?” I ask

“Bring her back and leave alpha” Tara repeated, ignoring my questions “I helped her with some healing spells to keep her fever down but she’ll need another dose in a few hours. Let’s hope you bring her back before that because your negativity, will kill her”

Saying that, Tara walked out of the room, leaving me standing there like a robot. As the door closed behind her, my brain froze; overwhelmed with some much information. Anna helped Kelsie escape. She apparently helped defeat Celine which I didn’t believe. I believe she helped but I don’t think Celine is dead. Someone that evil or powerful can’t just die so easily.

I look down at Anna and I felt my heart swell. She was mine. She was my second ch - NO! What the hell was I thinking? f**k! Just because someone said something, didn’t make it true! But I could apparently help bring her back. I still didn't get how she was a wolf and I didn’t detect it. But that wasn’t important. Right now, I needed to help her and I had no clue how!
