“Thanks.”I mumbled as Shane passed me a cup of coffee and moved back to lean against the dresser, directly facing the bed I was sitting on. Up till now, I’ve still not recovered from the shock and surprise of meeting Shane and more Appalling, he had come to visit me in prison just to bail me out. I am not even surprise how he did it. He didn’t just pay a huge amount for my bail demanded by the court, he cleared off every other legal proceedings. With the influence and power the hugos controls, anything is possible. But what I’m more disturbed about was how he even get to find me and knew I was imprisoned. After sipping a couple times from the coffee, I passed it back to him. “C’mon finish it up, you look so malnutrished. I also ordered food. Your Favourite, it will be here soon.” Shane rejected the coffee and I couldn’t help rolling my eyes. Even after all this years, I can’t believe he still sees me as his little princess. After we left the court yesterday, he booked a a lodge for us. Two rooms. One for himself and one for me. He also ordered food for us but those were the least of my concerns. All that loom in my head was how he found me and found out I was in jail and When I asked him, he told me I needed enough rest first. “Don’t you dare treat me like I’m a toddler Shane,” I said jokingly with a scoff, dropping the coffee on the nearest stool. Shane is actually my elder brother or more like an adopted brother. My parents adopted him before they had me. “You still haven’t told me how you found me.” “Alright. Alright. Fine,” He closed his eyes and sighed “I will tell you now. I saw everything on the news. I came across a particular newspaper just two days ago containing the sentence of a particular Carolina lawel, accused of attempted murder on her husband’s mistress. It piqued my interest, so I went through the content, being that I’ve a certain sister with that same name who ran away years ago and I was surprised to find your photo. It was you, surprisingly So I immediately came down to Texas.” How the hell my arrest got on the news so quick wasn’t so surprising for me. My husband, No, my ex-husband is a public figure afterall but what bothered me was my father. God what if he saw the news? It’s already bad enough that I’ve to disown myself years ago like a rebel, he can’t know that I was convicted. “And dad? Did this also get to him?” “C’mon,If this had gotten to him, the city wouldn’t be so calm. He would be making hell with the idiots who dared to lock his princess up.” He fired angrily. “Please, Don’t flatter me shane. I am pretty sure I stopped being his princess the day I rebelled and walked right out out on him.” My heart churned painfully as I remembered everything and begin to regret my actions. I was so stupid and childish then. “Oh please don’t say that, Lina. you aren’t a rebel. Dad made you did what you did. Everything was his fault. He didn’t have a right to force you into marrying someone you don’t even love. And trust me when I say this, he regrets his actions.” I scoffs. couldn’t help but feel Shane only said that to make me feel good. “If he did then why didn’t he find me?” “He just wanted you to come back on your own.” Well, it’s Not like I ever wanted to be found or was going to come back . When I left L.A I came down to new Texas to start a New Life on my own. Quite funny how I thought I would survive after living in luxury all my life but guess I tried. I found a Job as a bartender in a bar and rented a small apartment. No one knew, I was a billionaire run-away daughter. I maintained a low profile. It was supposed to be the best experience of my life but that was where I met the devil who came to ruin my life. Damien! I met him as a customer one night trying to drink himself to death. The bar was closed and I had to dismiss everyone. However he was too drunk to go home so I I had to take him to the bar’s lodge. Long story short, we got acquainted after that day and I discovered that reason he wanted to kill himself was because his finance left him for some other wealthier man abroad. Who apparently was Kate. I stuck by him and made him happy again. Until his grand mother began pressuring to get married so she can see her great grand kids before she pass. That was when he asked me to marry him which I obliged. I was so excited because I already developed feelings for him then. But now that I think of it, guess that was the worst mistake of my life. After Shane answered my question, it was his turn to asked me how life had been for me and how I ended up convicted. My story was a really long one but he patiently listened. I told him everything that happened when I left home, down to how I met Damien, bore kids for him and how he had teamed up with his mistress to wrongly throw me in jail for a crime I never commited. And By the time I was done, Shane was spitting fire. His docile expression swiftly turn into a fiery one. He look so ready to kill. If Damien was right here and he has a gun, I’m pretty sure he would shoot him. “I’m really sorry that you’ve go through that sister,” he voice was strained. His veins popped out from his neck and forehead. He was enraged. “But I’ll assure you one thing, Damien or whatever he calls himself, will Pay for everything.” Off course he will. “But for now we will have to go back home.”
