Catherine "Good morning, Ma'am Catherine." "Good morning, Lily," Catherine replied when the woman saw her enter the kitchen in the morning. "You wake up early," Lily commented to her. "Yes. I suddenly woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep," Catherine replied to Lily. And since she was having a hard time falling back asleep, she decided to just leave the room and head down to the kitchen. "Morning sickness?" Lily asked. She simply nodded in response. "Pregnancy is really tough. Have you gone for a check-up yet?" Lily asked her for a moment Catherine bit her lower lip as she remembered the encounter she had with Travis when she came home late to his mansion. The truth was, she barely got any sleep last night because she kept replaying in her mind what he had said to her. Especially the ultrasound of her baby that she had accidentally dropped out of shock. He called the ultrasound of their baby a trash? For her, it was so precious, but he had said, without an ounce of remorse, that it was a mess and trash when it fell. Catherine knew he was angry at her because he saw her as the villain in his life—the antagonist in the love story between him and his cousin Lianne. But if he was angry, she wished he would direct that anger only at her, not at their baby. That child was his too. His blood ran through the baby inside her womb. She just wished he wouldn’t take it out his anger towards her on the baby. She knew Travis would never love her, that he would never accept her in his life even if they were already married. She had already accepted that, even though it hurt, because she loved him. But she hoped he could at least accept and love their baby. That would be enough for her. She didn’t want their baby to come into this world without Travis caring about him or her. She only wished for the best for her baby. "Are you okay, Ma'am Catherine? Are you in pain somewhere?" Catherine blinked multiple times when she heard Lily’s voice. It seemed Lily noticed the pain that crossed her face at that moment. She forced a smile to hide how she felt. She already pitied herself and didn’t want others to pity her too. "I’m fine, Lily," she answered, there is still a forced smile on her face. After that, she continued walking to get a glass and filled it with water. Her mouth had suddenly felt very dry as the moment. "Ma'am Catherine, would you like some milk? I can make some for you," Lily offered after a moment. She turned to Lily. "Later," she answered. There was still something she wanted to do. Then she walked over to the fridge and opened it. She looked for something she could cook for Travis to bring with him to work. And since steak was one of his favorites, that’s what she decided to make. She took out all the ingredients she needed for cooking. "Ma'am Catherine, is that what you want to eat? We can cook it for you," Lily said when she saw what Catherine was doing. "It’s not for me, Lily. It’s for Travis," she said. "Same as before, Lily. Please give it to him later. And don’t tell him I cooked it," she added. Just like what happened yesterday when she cooked seafood pasta for him. He seemed to have eaten it because he thought Lily and the others had made it. And because she was looking at Lily, she noticed something unusual in her eyes. She couldn’t quite tell what it was, but it seemed like Lily wanted to say something but was she was hesitant. "Do you want to say something?" Catherine asked, urging her to tell what she wanted to say. Lily opened her mouth but then closed it again. "N-no, Ma'am," she said to her Catherine just smiled. Then she turned her attention back to cooking. She had to start soon before Travis woke up and caught her cooking there. He might figure out that she's the one preparing his office lunch. It wasn’t long before Catherine finished cooking. As usual, she placed the food in a container and into a paper bag so Lily could hand it over to Travis later. "I’ll leave this to you later, Lily," she said to her. Lily just let out a deep sigh before slowly nodding. Before leaving the kitchen, Catherine prepared a glass of milk, which she intended to drink in her room. "I’ll drink this in my room, Lily," she said. She didn’t want Travis to catch her in the kitchen if she stay there. "Would you like me to bring you breakfast in your room?" Lily asked. She shook her head. "No need. I’ll just come down later after Travis leaves," she answered. "Alright then," Lily said her goodbye. Catherine didn’t wait for her to say anything else and left the kitchen. She couldn’t stay any longer there, Travis might show up and find her there. Truthfully, she wanted to see Travis, but she had to restrain herself because every time they crossed paths, she always ended up getting hurt by the words he said to her. It seemed like his goal was to hurt her as revenge for being tied to her. He wasn’t happy with how his life turned out after they got married, and it seemed like he believed she didn’t deserve to be happy either. Catherine sighed deeply and continued walking. She moved slowly since she was holding a glass of hot milk and didn’t want to spill it on her hand. Just as she was about to climb the stairs to the mansion’s second floor, she stopped when she saw Travis coming down. Their eyes met, and his brow immediately furrowed when she saw her. She swallowed hard. Instead of continuing up the stairs, she stepped back. And as she did, she accidentally moved the glass, causing some of the milk to spill onto her hand. She winced at the burning sensation from the hot milk. She looked up again and bit her lower lip when she saw his eyebrows almost meeting in a line while he stared at her. He looked annoyed to see her first thing in the morning. Catherine endured the sting. Instead of heading upstairs to her room, she turned around and walked in the opposite direction to avoid crossing paths with him. Judging from Travis’ expression, she knew he was about to say something hurtful again. At that moment, Catherine didn’t want to hear any more harsh words. She still hadn’t recovered from what he had said to her yesterday. As Catherine walked away, she could still feel the weight of his gaze following her.
