CHAPTER 5-HEAVY BLOW

908 Words
The church wedding concluded and Gill with Lisa went to their rented apartment. The two didn't really do much together as their marriage was unplanned and uncalled for, but for one they had a good time together. Laurel on the other hand was living a life as a suicide mission. She lost her mother and husband in over one year. She felt like the only place she could find solace was Mr and Mrs Donald who by law were no longer her mother and father-in-law. She planned on visiting them but on an uneven terms she recieved a phone call from the adoption centre. "Who is it and what do you want?", Laurel aired frustratingly. "We are just looking to inform that the child your husband came to inspect has been approved. The papers have been signed and you can come and recieve your baby by tomorrow". "What!!!!!!", petruded the mouth of Laurel. "Did he pay the money, did he arrive there on time, did he even inform me?", to all these the centre complied with what they could comply to. Laurel fell down on her knees and started crying, 'Her life is a waste', she thought as she wallowed in tears. Laurel couldn't bourn the fact of living alone with her only child which she adopted afterwards deciding that the child cannot just be a waste of money. She finally planned to visit the Donald's but surprisingly she was the one being visited by the Donald's more specifically Mrs. Donald who is the most caring among them all. She stepped in and there they aroused a conversation. "How are you doing?", asked curious Mrs Donald. "Horrible, I just got divorced by my one and only husband and lost my mother". "What do you mean y.. you just got divorced, aren't you the one who wanted to divorce him?". "What no!", exclaimed Laurel. "It is he who found some paper work that he was supposed to hand over to the court to sign but apparently forgot". Mrs Donald didn't know what to believe anymore. Her son is telling her one thing while her seemingly innocent past daughter-in-law is telling her another; all the stress and misconfusion was to much for Mrs Donald as she fainted on the spot. "Hay, Hay", screamed Laurel as neighbours of different sorts rushed in to the scene to help a fainted old lady. The story reached Gill but he didn't show any sign to care. Either because of his new formed drinking habit or he hated his mother. Instead, he kept hanging out with his wife and the experience gave him away to become drunk. Another experience where Laurel had to take care of the patient all by herself. The burden was too much. Mr. Donald couldn't get up without adequate help while Gill had already wasted his life all for nothing. As Laurel was watching over Mrs Donald during the midday, Mrs. Donald called her over and spoke a word. "Thank you for being there for me", and with that gave up the goast. She called the doctor into the scene and the doctor confirmed the circumstance. She was put in corpse and bathed while the relatives planned the burial. All this happened while Gill was absent. He was instead drinking and wiling away his time. On one faithful noon while Gill strolled half-naked he spotted a woman with a daring look. Without minding whether the woman was Mrs or Miss, he raided the woman, dragged her to an empty apartment and influenced her into his life. "I love you and your hilarious jestures", said the luckily not yet married woman. "I.... I.... I know", reported Gill with a stern look on his face. The two didn't marry due to Gill's intervention and instead lived a separate life in an empty apartment a distance away from civilization. Gill lived a happy second life with Jessie, the name of the new girl. This was an experienced that showed that drugs can influence anyone to do the craziest things. The burial was planned, Gill was cheating when people were attending, Gill was drinking and feeling accomplished. The burial ceremony began and ended in a flash but it was all a lonely and self lost girl could do. She closed the ceremony again with another hearth warming speech. "Three, Yes three. I have lost the three people who I can always seek to go to when the times get rough. I can remember when I first married and now I am divorced, I can remember when my mom was still alive and now she is dead. What a sorrowful world. Do not think I'll do it tomorrow because you will never know what tomorrow will hold. They say three times marks a charm but for me it marks nothing but self pity. I am no more, I have lost everything", she said as she returned to her seat. 'Sorry' was heard all round the audience but no one could recollect what she was going through. From a state of happiness to a state of pure regret all she could ever think of was 'I wonder how he is doing now' which to these she got no reply. Laurel returned home with another huge impact in her life gone. Nothing she could do now but let it all play out until the day that she would see redemption and probably all her pains would end.
