ABSTRACT LOVE

CHAPTER 4-NEW COUPLE

Soon enough, Gill found himself in his work place talking with one of his colleagues. "My wife is always sobbing about her current situations and not spending any time with me. I am tired of it. My next plans is divorce". "Dude, you shouldn't just jump into divorce; think it through. Have you done anything to upset her?", his colleague(Samuel) asked. "Not anything significant". "Just think about it, it's your life man", advised Samuel as he left the scene. Gill spent his next few days taking advice from more of his colleagues. Some told him to leave her and find a new woman others said 'Forgive her', it's not easy to lose your mother.

Almost five months from the incident and Laurel was never the same wife ever again to Gill. She spent most of her time praying and asking God to wicked the person who had the guts to poison her mother. Meanwhile, on another day of work, Gill was talking to one of his colleagues and a statement made by him could completely change the life of Gill. "Didn't you say that a woman from that court wedding caught your eye and if the marriage did not work out you would go to her". "Oh it's true. Thanks for the advice", Gill said as he rushed out of the scene.

Two weeks later.....

Two weeks later and Laurel became unbearable. She didn't go anywhere or visit anyone and sometimes didn't even take showers. She usually just stayed inside praying and hoping that justice would prevail. Gill on days like that always thought of the connection she had with her mother but to stay innocent had to keep his mouth shut. Laurel wasn't even aware that Gill was planning with his friends and colleagues for a divorce intervention.

On a normal note, Laurel would never be on board for the idea of a divorce but Gill had valuable piece of evidence to show the court and Laurel as an evidence of divorce. Gill had the plan and the planning all he needed was the lady so he went in search of his new found woman of his dreams. He went to friends and family asking for reports of if they had seen a well blushed girl with dazzling hair. Unfortunately, as you would expect, no one could be of help as the description provided was too little but on one monumental occasion when he visited his family to gather information, his mother queried about Laurel. "So where is she?", screamed the old woman after numerous questions without an answer. "She decided to break up with me on her own accord. I was devastated but she stuck with her decision". Now, Mrs. Donald is a woman who believes to have brought up her child in the right way. In other words, not to lie and so she believed Gill without hesitation. Gill didn't feel any guilt as he believed to have done this in the name of love. After the encounter, he immediately continued the search. All these activities, Laurel wasn't informed of as she was too busy sobbing to figure anything out.

Finally, Gill gave up on the search knowing that the woman could not be found so he instead went looking for another lady. For him any woman was better than Laurel.

One month later.....

It took a whole month for Gill to find a woman. She is a beauty named Lisa. The two discussed one night before confirming the marriage as a few days after the divorce. Gill returned home beaming a heavy smile and when he returned he heard a voice which he hadn't heard for a long time. "Where have you been?", a distraught Laurel asked. Gill was trying to recollect what he just heard before airing a reply. "Oh! I have been working late", replied Gill. "Really?!". "Yea, really", a suspicious looking Gill replied and with that Laurel called it a day. He was lucky that Laurel didn't dig deeper as his secret would have been discovered.

The planned divorce day and Gill made the first approach, "Laurel, I have something to tell you". Laurel who wasn't paying attention immediately turned to see the intention of her husband. "I did some investigation and figured out that the marriage deed wasn't signed". This was the intention of Gill from day one incase the marriage didn't work out. He intentionally hid the papers from the court so that incase of a divorce, it would easily be accepted by the court. "Really, it wasn't?". "Yes and now we have to head to the court and plan a divorce before things get out of hand". With compliance, Laurel got in the car and they headed off to the court.

Once they arrived, they got in and explained everything to the court members. They got into the case, approved it and started filing the papers for the divorce. "How didn't you see it, you were the one in charge of the papers", desperate Laurel asked. "I guess I made a mistake, everyone makes mistakes". "But this is for our marriage. Why baby, why". Gill saw the desperate look on Laurel's eyes but that was cut short by the filer who announced that the filing was done. Surprisingly to the court members, Gill was beaming a smile while Laurel was beaming a frown. It was then official that they were no more husband and wife with Gill smiling and Laurel frowning.

As soon as they got home, Gill packed his bags and departed without even saying goodbye. Laurel on the other hand was so depressed that she had just lost her mother and husband.

One week later.....

The wedding between Gill and Lisa was exuberant. The two had done traditional and church but not court. Mr and Mrs Donald attended the wedding and paid their gratitude while airing the fact that Laurel was a big loss and will be missed. The new found couple kissed and went home as husband and wife.
