The following days passed quickly. Lori had stayed another few days, but David had to get back to his practice in Boston. Gramma Anne had called, and Cam cried when she heard the voice on the other end of the phone.
“Now don’t dally down there. Answer all their questions as quickly as you can so you can get home to us,” the spunky older woman had told her. “You’ve been away from here too long. And I am not getting on one of those rat-trap airplanes to come visit you there. You’ll have to come home if you want to see me.”
Cam smiled, something she’d been doing a lot of in the past few days. She still had problems forming all the words she wanted, but she managed to say, “Don’t worry, Gram. I’ll be home as soon as I can. You won’t get rid of me that easily again.”
