Cam awoke just as the sun was rising. At first she didn’t understand why she was sleeping on her side. That wasn’t how she usually slept. Then she started to turn over and the movement sent a searing pain throughout her entire body. It was unlike anything she could remember.
Rosa awoke at the soft scream that escaped Cam’s mouth.
“Lie quiet,” she said softly, laying her hand on Cam’s upper arm to try and ease some of Cam’s gasping. She sat up as Cam fought the pain and the inability to draw in air.
