----Witch----
***Alec's POV***
Lanie was a witch? How? What? She's my mate? Confusion was painted all over my face as the undeniable mate pull definitely centered towards her. It had to be her.
Lanie looked up at me with a chuckle, biting her lower lip to keep from bursting out into laughter.
" What, darling? Cat got your tongue?" She smirked, amused by my confusion. This girl sure had some spunk.
" It's just… uhh…" I paused, trying to formulate my words into a cohesive sentence without acting like a complete fool.
" Freki, my wolf, is convinced you are our mate."
" Sorry hon, I think your wolf's instincts must be wrong, because I can't be your mate. I'm a witch, you're a wolf. You know a pairing like that is forbidden in the eyes of the coven, right?" Lanie's ocean blue eyes looked up into mine as we danced. Her eyes swirled like a tempest and I wondered if she felt the pull too.
" There's no mistake about it. You're our mate. Freki is completely sure." I said with conviction while enjoyment over my confusion danced in her eyes.
" Sorry loverboy, I'm no one's mate." She shrugged. "I dance to the beat of my own drum and I sure as hell don't believe in a witch and werewolf fated mate pairing. We would be doomed from the start and probably prosecuted. Probably would be best just to reject me in that formal tone that you Alphas do."
I looked at this woman with curiosity. She wasn't a typical woman. Not one that just rolled over and obeyed every Alpha's command. No, she had a fire to her. She was strong and independent. I slowly found myself wanting to be with her even more.
" How about this… I would like to take you out on two dates. After the second date, if you feel absolutely nothing for me, I'll sever the bond. Deal? Or are you too scared to be out with a wolf?" I grinned, egging her on to get to see that beautiful inner fire again.
" I'm not afraid to be with some big dumb wolf! Fine! Two dates and then you reject me." Lanie narrowed her eyes and huffed at being presented the challenge.
" Good, I'll pick you up for dinner tomorrow night. I'll send you a dress earlier in the morning to get changed into as a present." I smiled as I noticed a small blush creep onto her cheeks.
" Fine! Two dates. Thanks for the dance, darling." She stuck her tongue out playfully. Goddess, she was irresistible.
“ Already calling me by pet names? Didn’t know you fell for me already.” I stuck my tongue back out at her, teasing her.
“ Nah, I couldn’t fall for a dumb, stinky wolf like you.” She laughed as her eyes twinkled.
The dance finally ended and I bowed, kissing the top of her hand. Her smile was infectious while I watched her practically run over to Sophia. I nodded respectfully towards Arsen before taking my seat.
Before I knew it, dinner was served. A medium rare Delmonico steak was set in front of me along with some rosemary roasted potatoes, green beans and a glass of wine. It looked like heaven.
" Man, they are feeding everyone like kings tonight." I mused to myself before digging in.
I kept catching myself staring at Lanie though during the meal. It was like she was my favorite movie; I couldn't take my eyes off her. The way she laughed and threw her head back in laughter with her sister melted my heart. She was the most beautiful being in the universe to me. I had to make her mine. I didn't care about some dumb taboo of werewolves and witches not being able to be together.
The music started again as I felt a soft tap on my shoulder, making me jump.
" Excuse me?"
Breaking my gaze from Lanie, I turned to see a brown haired shewolf.
" May I help you?" I asked, curious as to why she needed my attention.
The woman hooded her eyes and tucked her hair behind her ear.
" I couldn't help but notice how handsome you were. I was wondering if you'd like to dance?"
Her voice was sultry and I immediately realized she didn't want to just dance as her fingers trailed down the muscles of my arm seductively.
" Oh, uh…" Surprised, I didn't even know what to say.
I was about to open my mouth to deny her when I saw a flash of auburn hair and then heard her voice.
" Excuse me, but I'd like to ask you to take your hands off MY date." Lanie wore a bright smile but the look in her eyes could kill.
" Didn't you two just meet? How could he be your date?" The shewolf raised an eyebrow, not believing the story.
" Would you like for me to prove it?" Lanie grinned, her eyes still holding that deathly look.
" Lanie…" I tried to interject before the two women attacked and killed each other over me.
" Yes, please prove it, otherwise move aside and let me show him how a real lady can treat him." The shewolf snarled with challenge in her voice.
" Gladly. Alec, dear?" Lanie's voice was sugary sweet. Oh s**t, she's scary. My mate terrifies my Alpha wolf. I'm done for!
" Yes, my princess?" I looked up at her, internally trembling over what I'd see.
The next thing I saw was a mess of auburn curls, warmth hit my lips next as my eyes widened. My hand instinctively went up to her cheek, gently cupping her cheek before my eyes closed. Sparks flew as my wolf howled happily in my head. My body acted on its own as I pulled her to sit on my lap, deepening the kiss with a pleasurable groan. We continued our storm of kisses while the shewolf stormed off.
Lanie pulled away from the kiss finally, grinning.
" Don't be late for our date, loverboy."
" I wouldn't miss it for the world, princess."
Giggling, she hopped off my lap and walked off. Damn, I had to have her as my mate.
