Reception

----Reception---- ***??? POV*** All of the guests, including myself, filtered into the reception area where a DJ was playing soft music. The table up front had place cards along with a couple greeters. My red eyes scanned the cards before picking mine up: Alpha Alec Newmoon. It looked like I was seated at table two closest to the wedding party. Odd. I wasn't exactly close with any of them. That one woman though made my wolf restless. Her curly auburn hair and striking blue eyes made my whole body burn with desire. Who was she? She had to have been another werewolf to be here and especially since my wolf, Freki, wouldn't keep still and forced me to mutter 'mate' earlier. She didn't seem affected by it though. Maybe she didn't hear me or see me? Shaking my head, I went to take my seat and wait for the bridal party to come in. The dance floor had hues of pink and purple and there was up lighting in the same hues around the room. The rest of the tables had white tablecloths with white chairs and matching ribbons. Our little wedding gifts were wolves carved out of jade, a good luck symbol. After everyone settled down, I noticed I was at the table with other Alphas and some of their Lunas. I politely nodded my greeting before patiently awaiting the red haired goddess to come walking through those doors. The music suddenly changed to an upbeat tone as the door flung open to her and that other man linked arm in arm and danced together up to their respectful places. I wanted to growl at the fact another man was touching her but I bit my tongue hard. I wasn't going to make a scene. Then, the bride and groom came in as I couldn't help but smile. I had met them a few days prior but Sophia had a way to just melt away all of the past and let us all focus on the future. She would be the best counterbalance for the Evermoon's bloody past. She also seemed extremely giddy for me to come to this wedding, practically begging me to go. That Sophia was a strange one. Did she know that I would be interested in this girl? If so, how? Nah, that couldn't be possible. It was just a coincidence and a very happy bride to be. Watching, I realized that the wedding party joined in on Sophia's and Arsen's first dance. The man with my goddess took another woman and danced with her as the gorgeous woman from before sat at the wedding party table to watch. Did she not have a date? As if Sophia had read my thoughts, she lifted her hand to pause the music, kissed her husband and spoke. " My sister, Lanie, deserves to dance with us during our first dance. Would a kind gentleman please offer her a dance?" My whole body felt like a child on his birthday as I jumped up way too eagerly at the opportunity. " I'd love to ask her to danc-- WOAH!" With the grace the Moon Goddess forgot to bestow to me, I tripped over my own two feet getting up and fell face first onto the floor. Gasps sounded as Lanie came rushing over to me. " Sir, are you okay? Dancing with me isn't THAT exciting!" She chuckled as her ocean blue eyes danced with amusement. I was beyond embarrassed. My future mate's first impression of me was a clumsy buffoon. Wonderful. Could it get any better? She held her hand out to me as I gently grabbed it. The warm shocks filled my body at her touch and her eyes flickered in confusion so I think she felt it too. Getting up, I tried to play it off. " Uh, looks like I fell for you at first sight?" I gave her a cheesy grin as I heard a groan from her and a playful eye roll. " I see that I have a Casanova here wanting to dance with me. Just please don't trip as we are dancing." She smirked, teasing me while I used my free hand to rub the back of my neck shyly. " Yes, princess." I gave her a warm smile. " It's Lanie. And I sure as hell ain't your princess." She wrinkled her nose as she pulled me to the dance floor. " Are you okay or did you already fall for my sister?" Sophia whispered, giggling softly at her jab at me. " Ugh! This will be the highlight of the reception. Me falling on my face." I ran my fingers through my dirty blonde hair and grinned. The music picked up again as I took a hold of Lanie. She was shorter than me by half a foot but she was gorgeous. Being so close to her had my wolf singing in my mind, but she didn't react in the same way. Sophia said Lanie was her sister so by that right, she had to be a werewolf. Why wasn't she all over me like most newly discovered mates? I found myself staring at her, like she was the purest gold or the brightest diamond. I couldn't tear my eyes off of her but she kept looking around, probably doing mental checks of everything. " So, uh, Lanie. How old are you?" Maybe she was younger and hadn't discovered her wolf yet. " I'm twenty one, why?" She asked, looking up at me curiously. " Oh, I'm twenty four. How was your first run as a wolf?" I asked, trying to make light conversation. Lanie's eyes widened and grew amused before she started laughing. " What's so funny, Lanie?" I was extremely confused at this point. " I haven't changed into a wolf." She said in between her giggles. " Oh, I'm so sorry! Is your wolf hidden or refuses to come out?" " No darling, I don't have a wolf inside of me." My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Did she banish her wolf but Sophia kept hers? What was going on? As my confused expression amused Lanie even more, she spoke up. " Darling, I'm a witch." Wait, WHAT?!
