Chapter 7 It seemed we settled into an unspoken truce. The next two days were uneventful. I worked in the spare room and Dad sat in the recliner. I lent him my eBook reader and he downloaded a Western novel to keep him occupied. He bitched about the electronic device, but at least he wasn’t rushing off recklessly. A nervous excitement welled up inside me on Friday morning. I was looking forward to seeing Colten again. Dad was happy I had a friend visiting—he recounted a couple of tales of Colten that had me laughing once more—and he insisted we grill the venison steaks Fred had dropped off the day before.
