6.the pendant

sky's POV

the journey to my floor through elevator went peaceful.both of us were silent but it was not awkward silence instead we both were lost in our thoughts.

“sir ,all the work has been handled."Nick informs as soon as I step out of the elevator.

“okay ,you can go do your own work now"

I replied and he nods before leaving.

“come in"I invite angel in my office .and know I feel that this is the first time I have invited someone on my own and I am genuinely happy to meet her.

I sit on the my ceo chair and gesture her to be seated as well.

I wait for her to say first .

“Mr.Ryder are you sure you are free? I..I..I mean can come someday else? "she is nervous and she wants to hide it ,but her stuttering has sold her out . I suppress my smile which I think I do a lot when I am with her.

“if you want to come and see me ,you can come anytime Ms.william ,no need to find excuses."

there we go again , she is nervous and I am flirting.

“umm..but why does this sound like you inviting me over .huh?" and here she fires back with her right eyebrow raised and elbows now on table while her palms supported her chin.

“you think so??" I question while raising my eyebrow and leaning back on my chair .and just 5 seconds later we both bust out.

I am smiling and she is laughing.

I don't know what kind of connection I have with her but I feel everything with her very natural ,real and warm.

“actually Mr. Ryder I saw your gift when I returned home early ..and it's beautiful ❤️" she tells me after she stopped laughing while smiling ..and I smile back

“i am glad you liked it."

“but Mr Ryder the thing is that is very expensive ,so I can't accept your present and I hope you can take it back" she finishes her sentence and placed the box which I recognise is probably the pendant ..I frown not expecting her to return my gift just like that.

“take it back ,it's yours already." I gave the box a slight push towards her .my voice has turned cold totally showing how dissatisfied I am with her behaviour.

“no Mr Ryder take it back"

“my grandmother has by herself carefully selected this pendant for you ,so just keep it for her.

“i respect grandma's feeling but I still can't accept this .her blessings are enough for me."

“than just take it as a form of my gratitude for helping my grandma previously"

“i don't need your gratitude ,I was just doing my duty as a responsible citizen"

“MS.ANGEL WILLIAM" I call out her full name and voice has increased by few decibels ..I am really annoyed now ..why can't she just accept it .

her eyes widened before she lowers her head and started mumbling looking like a child who has been wronged.

“Ms. William haven't you Heard ‘it’s the thought that counts' . please consider our feelings behind the present and not the monetary value"

I speak politely as if coaxing a child .

“l..l.. ALRIGHT you win" she says and sighs in defeat .

“i always do "I stated with a smile.

“narcissist ”only she has the guts to say that on my face.

“you should wear it " I said refering to the pendant.

“no no it's expensive, I am worried if I wear it I will lose it ." she finishes while waving her hand with a panic look on her face as if imagining the loss of pendant.

“ don't worry ,if you lose it ,I will buy you more." I said while I moved from my chair and now I am standing besides her chair .

and without me even knowing I have taken out the pendant from its case .I unhooked it and look at angel and smile.

she smiles back and sighs finally giving in .

she stands up turns her back to me allowing me to help her with the pendant. and I am feeling very happy because of it.

I slowly shift her ponytail from her back to her shoulder. I can't help help but swallow my saliva when I saw her back..god she is wearing a deep back top ..then I bring the pendant over her head carefully but I freeze when my cold fingers come in contact with her warm back . I resist the urge to run my fingers over her back and try to focus on the hooking the pendant but I am miserably failing.

I am distracted we are so close that I can hear her breathing and mine too.

I exhale one deep breath then told her.

“the hook is little loose, I will tighten it using my mouth ,stand still ,okay." I wait for her reply.

“okay" she approves it.

we have a little height gap .I am 5.4feets and she is probably 5 feets.so I bend a little and then tighten that hook using my lips and while doing so my lips accidentally touched her skin.

it was as I felt a mild electric shock..I sensation was so new but at the same time so welcoming.

unknowingly I have already closed my eyes ,not moving at all ,I just stayed there in the same position and hearing her take her deep breath ,I swalloed my saliva once again.

“excuse me sir! I..." suddenly the door opened but we only realised it when we heard Nick's voice.we both were shock ,though I won't let it show on my face .on the other hand angel her face has already turned a shade of crimson red.

she looks guilty ,as if caught doing something wrong,but above all she looks really beautiful....

it was this moment that I know she is definitely special to me❤️

but OH MY GOD! SHE IS LOOKS GUILTY ...DAMN IT ,DAMN IT..of course she is guilty because she has a BOYFRIEND.
