Serenity's POV
Slowly, my senses started coming back to me, one at a time. I had no idea how long I had been unconscious before it began. H***, my eyes wouldn't even open yet, so I couldn't even tell if it was still night or day yet, much less how long I had been there. A lot of good that would do me anyway if I was surrounded by any creature. After all, I was alone and an untrained witch.
I could now tell that wherever I was, it was cold and damp lying and if I listened carefully I could just make out the sounds of people talking and muttering in the distance.
After a few more agonizing moments that felt like hours, my eyes began to flutter open slowly, and my sense of hearing went back to how it was before, whatever that was that happened at mine and Damien's date.
The thought of my date set my heart racing and in a panic I sat straight up and looked for Damien, who was nowhere to be seen in the dingy-looking cell that I had apparently been placed in when, suddenly, part of the conversation drifted over to my ears and I could hear it as if the person was talking right next to me.
"Yes, boss. We got the girl. Yea. Yes, we made sure to cover our scent. Of course, we hid our trail. No, there is no way that demon mutt should be able to find us. Uhhuh. Ok. We'll see you then." The voice said, there was a bit of muttering, then the voice spoke again.
"Brothers, sisters, we have succeeded in retrieving the gift, but the fight is not over yet! Our leader says to remain vigilant as our leader won't be here until the time of the harvest moon in two months and 3 weeks' time. Till then, we must guard and nurture the gift as if our life depends on it, because our lives do depend on it!"
Hearing this made me begin to panic. As I panicked, the cell I was in began to shake and people came running.
"Calm down!" someone in the front shouted at me. He was pale and wiry, dressed in crimson and black.
"Where am I?" I asked while trying to calm down but was only answered by being told to calm down again. This caused me to panic more.
Seeing that I couldn't calm down, a buffer-looking man dressed in all black backhanded me, "You buzzed to calm down," he said in a gruff voice, and the first guy who spoke skuffed.
"Micheal, you can't go treating her like that. He will kill you if he finds out."
"She will kill us if she doesn't calm down, Tedd."
"We will bring you some food, ma'am, but please calm down. I understand you may be scared, but no one else will hurt you. You have my word," the man named Tedd said as the group walked away.
I started doing breathing exercises to get my breath and racing heart to get back even and decided that I would eat the food they brought me and then, hopefully, enough strength to contact someone from home to hopefully get back home.
They brought me some soup and I slowly ate it, but the plan to contact anyone seemingly had come up fruitless as of yet. Hopefully tomorrow would be better, I thought, as I noticed it was night time from the little window in my cell.
