Chapter 17: Opening Remarks

"I shall do my best to have fun and entertainment everyone's raging hearts for battle!"

"Thank you for that amazing welcome speech to our wonderful spectators, Zodiante Libra." One of the host said, the crowd was continues to intensify.

Most of them are Libra, they even waved their flag symbolizing a weighing scale. Roje proudly stepped down her podium while waving beautifully towards the waves of people as they scream her name. Everyone seemed so hype about this event, this is like their FIFA. The difference to that, magic is involved here.

"Now for may I call on stage Zodiante Virgo, we would like to hear some inspiring words from you before we start the Zodiantes ranking."

I froze upon the gazes that I've felt to my bones, it's very uncomforting. I had no other choice but to stand from the chair that I was sitting. I tried my best to be as confident as I can walking towards the podium but my hands betrayed me as I held the microphone shaking. I heard lots of whispering from the ocean of spectators. Most are that it's their first time seeing me and whose family I originated.

I breathe heavily, being here in this gigantic stadium outside our school with many spectators from different regions is quite nerve racking. I did my best to muster all my strength to speak, I can't embarrass myself here.

"I know some of you might be wondering who I am. My fellow Virgos might not also know me but our Goddess Virgo choose me to be a Zodiante. So please let me prove myself worthy of being called one, I don't need anything from all of you but respect. I, myself don't know the real purpose why I was chosen but that's not important anymore. Have a wonderful day spectating this unforgettable time of the year everyone, thank you."

It's like I sprinted away from that situation since I really didn't entertain the audience. No smiling, no waving, just like a model walking down the runway but in distress. But someone caught my attention as he cheered for me in pure bliss, he was cute little boy. I smiled knowing that someone is supporting me without them knowing that I'm not one of their kind.

"Thank you Zodiante Virgo, now we will officially start the Zodiante Ranking! Everyone cheer for your region with all your might, the competition will be tough. Who among these twelve chosen childs of hope shall rise and claim the crown?"

"I wouldn't know Cholo, all twelve of them have potential! They are the chosen ones, by all means they're great and powerful! I can't contain my excitement much longer; a competition big as this was held decades ago!"

"Yeah! That's an absolute fact Samantha, the last Zodiante Ranking was held decades ago! Today shall be a memorable day for everyone watching here. They'll be able to spectate the most intense battle of the century with the appearance of our 12 almighty Gods!"

"You've totally got it right, Cholo! Now that we're are done with the opening remarks." The MC paused a bit for the excitement to fill in everyone's lungs. "Let the games begin!"

All the spectators inside the stadium roared and shouted the names of their bias. Confetti's were around the places, I couldn't help but be amaze with such a big event like this. Moments later after the display of our smiles we went to our private rooms to rest for a bit and change clothes that represents our region. Our time was limited, we headed the hallways and saw each one of us guided by each faculty but no one had the intention to speak.

"Your speech earlier was awesome Jammy!" Aliah smiled at me wearing her breathtaking outfit.

"Your kidding, I didn't even do good as you. You were very elegant, I'll never be able to fake it." I said with a teasing look, I walked beside her.

"I've always been elegant and brilliant, anyways goodluck! I won't go easy on you, our friendship will not get in my way especially in my goals." Her sweet yet direct warning somewhat relieved my nervousness.

"Now, the long break is finally done. The first game of the Zodiante Ranking shall commence. Samantha take it away!" The MC said right after we set foot on our podiums.

"Our first game is called Race for Me! Each Zodiante will pick a random door leading them to a celestial totem, luck and brains will be needed! The 12 Zodiantes shall race to get there first but these obstacles won't let that happen easily! The first one to reach the totem will have the highest points, the last person will have the lowest points. The points that they will gather from the challenges we've prepared shall decide their ranking in this competition!"

"Goodluck Zodiantes of hope, show of all us your skills and talent!" Cholo, the host last said as five doors conjured right in front of me.

My colleagues immediately choose their doors from the holographic screen hinting their eagerness. I acted fast and picked a random door, I'm going to give it my all.

I screamed as I opened the door, I was falling from the sky! I'll definitely break my bones from this fall if I do anything at all.

"TakeOver Magic: Fairy Wings!" I screamed hoping it'd word. Alas, I didn't fail myself as a goddess like wings sprouted from my back.

I flapped my wings as fast as I can, balancing myself to fly in mid-air. I gasped for air as I reached the sandy ground, that free fall almost killed me because the lack of oxygen. I immediately looked around the area, I'm in a dessert! Instead of being my panicking self I was in awe of the beauty of it. It's my very first time being in a dessert, I definitely feel like I'm in Egypt!

I was about to stand to look around but I suddenly couldn't move. That was when I realized I was slowly eaten by the sand. I was too mesmerized by the place that I didn't even noticed it!

"s**t! Quicksand!"
