The Deal

1985 Words
Edward's POV I've always been curious about the Nightfall Pack. My father, Lucus Anderson, is an undisputed king, especially after his actions in the Dark Dawn war. No one would ever doubt his strength and status. I've never agreed with his methods. We have never been able to see eye to eye about most of anything. One of the things we constantly disagree on is the Nightfall Pack. Our packs are enemies they have been for as long as I can remember. However, not long ago, a subordinate I had recording my father's every move reported that my father often secretly goes to the Nightfall Pack and then returns within a day. It was far too strange to ignore. After all, why would my father be willing to go to the territory of his biggest enemy from the war? I need to figure out what is going on and to do that I have to gather more information on the Nightfall Pack. It's the best way to ensure my attack is effective. After witnessing the chaos of the engagement party, Aurora caught my attention. From what I could gather, Henry had an affair. But Aurora's public rejection and how she handled the situation was unexpected. According to the information I had my men collect, she doesn't have a wolf, and her pack's strength is in no place to rival Nightfalls. It's surprising she decided to shame Henry so openly with the video. "What are your conditions?" "I need all of the information you can give me about the Nightfall Pack." She was stunned by my request. To distract her from any warm feelings towards her ex-boyfriend pack, I leaned in and pressed my upper body against hers. She subconsciously leaned away from me, so I placed my hands on the backrest behind her. Caging her in against me. "If you don't agree, I can just as easily take the neighbouring Swiftwood Pack during my attack." She lit up after the threat. Pure anger burning in her beautiful green eyes. "I accept this condition." She gently pushed my shoulder with her hand and calmly looked at me with those beautifully expressive eyes. I almost lost my train of thought while staring at them. I stood and made a gesture of invitation. Sitting crosslegged on the opposite sofa, waiting. "I need a pen and some paper." Blake jumped up to grab it. I smirked across at Aurora. "I'm going to attack your fiance's pack. Don't you have anything to say about that?" She snorted, then calmly stated, "He's not my fiance anymore, so whatever you do to him has nothing to do with me. I'm willing to give you information it's just a transaction." I looked at her almost proudly and chuckled. She didn't seem impressed and just ignored me and sipped her tea. "Haha, It seems that Aurora knows your reputation well." My wolf laughed at me. "You don't have the right to make fun of me, Orion." I shot back at him. Blake quickly came forward with what I had requested. Aurora casually pulled a ribbon from her dress to tie up her shinny golden hair. The red of the ribbon was eye-catching against her gold hair. It reflected her charming and attention-grabbing. She calmly wrote and drew on the paper for over an hour. Out of politeness and being a gentleman, I did not look over at her work, merely took the time to relax and wait for Blake to hand me to documents. I was curious about the amount of information she was writing down. It appeared to be a lot. "Okay." She declared as she finished. Placing down the pen she handed me a sheet of paper. I put down the file I was reading and took the paper from her. It was a map of the entire Nightfall Pack, with small annotations marked all over it. "She drew this map?" Orion exclaimed in my mind. I was just as impressed. The map showed all the terrain of the pack including every fork in the roads. Each room was labelled in every single building. Key rooms were annotated boldly. As I was examining the map, another paper was handed to me. I looked up to see that Aurora has walked over with a stack of papers for me. "Let's make this clear. After you have looked through all of these, you have to send me back to my pack safely." "After seeing these, I'm even more reluctant to let you go, my love." Calling her love habitually, but she chose to ignore what I said and handed me another paper. The paper was a list or all the guards in the Nightfall Pack. It detailed where they lived, what time they patrolled and their patrol route. The shock was even worse this time. The map alone showed that Aurora must have lived in the pack for a long time and was familiar with the terrain. But all the knowledge on the guards was not something that even Henrys fiancee could grasp, let alone someone who had never lived there. "How do you know all this?" I asked. "It's simple," she flicked the har that had fallen over her eyes back over her shoulder. "All you need is a good pair of observant eyes and a brain." She handed me the remaining papers, which detailed several important pack figures. Where they lived, their routines. There was even a menu for the pack's restaurant. Her observation and memory skills were incredibly impressive along with being very attractive. "Im satisfied." I organised the papers and placed them back on the table. "How about we make another deal?" "Another deal?" She frowned, slightly dissatisfied with my question. "Yes, would you like to join us in wiping out your ex-boyfriend's Pack?" "Join you?" "Yes." "Impossible." I was taken aback. I thought she would at least hesitate, but she refused almost instantly. "Why not? I'm willing to split resources with you, as far as I know, Swiftwood Pack could use some more resources.” CHAPTER 9 You, I Want You Edward's POV She laughed elegantly when she heard what I said. She flicked her skirt out of the way before sitting back down. "Edward, why would I willingly put a time bomb next to my Pack?” "A time bomb?" "After you take the Nightfall Pack, you own that territory. Even if I help you, theres no guarantee that you will not turn against my Pack later." I chuckled and squinted at her. "Even without your help, it would be easy for me to take down the Nightfall Pack.” But to my surprise, she only laughed. Shed didn't even react to the anger my wolf was intentionally releasing. "No, although I don't know why, you seem to need my Packs strength. Otherwise, you wouldn't have asked me to attack with you." My face darkened. This woman was smarter than she showed. Although Timberwolf was a strong Pack half of the pack was still held by my father. If I wanted to figure out what my father was doing, I couldn't enter the territory alone. However, if I had the power of the Swiftwood pack I could leverage that against Nightfall. Since Aurora joined me, she had been too calm. I wanted to see what her panic looked like. "If you don't join me in attacking the Nightfall Pack, I will attack both packs. It's up to you what I choose." Aurora's POV Edward was trying to use the same tactic again. He leant towards me, his scent lingering around him. His proud eyes would be visible if he looked down ever so slightly. If I moved any closer, my nose would touch his chin. He was right. I'm in no position to negotiate with him right now. I'm so frustrated if I hadn't gotten wrapped up with that bastard Henry, I wouldn't be in this position right now. However, I had something saved just for this moment. I want to show this man that I have more value than he first thought. Inwardly I was terrified but, I would never let him see that. I tilted my head back and smirked at him. "I think you might be interested in the third option." "Oh?" His face was puzzled as I handed him the final paper I had hidden under the table. He glanced at it quickly. I took great pleasure in the shock on his face. He was silent for a long time, taking in everything I had written. The smirk he usually wore had dropped off his face. After a while, he smiled again and looked down at me. "You keep surprising me.” He threw the paper down on the table. It was a map of the Timberwolf Pack along with the guard's schedules and patrol routes. "How did you do this?" "It's simple. I've been observing since I got here. Every Omega and guard who passed by me, as well as the time they passed. I remember. He wasn't angry. He looked proud. "Have you been able to do this since you were a child?" "Of course not." Not having a wolf meant some of my skills were inferior. I always had a strong mind since childhood. So I chose to study hard to improve myself. I sharpened my observation skills and eventually developed the ability to remember everything. It's ironic now that I had developed these observation skills but never discovered Henry and Daisy's affair. Thinking about it made me resent my position. If I didn't have to worry about causing issues for my pack, I could have helped Edward completely wipe out the Nightfall Pack. Edward's voice was magnetic, drawing my attention constantly. "So, you showed me this to demonstrate your abilities?” "Yes," I said straightening out my clothes and showing him my phone. "I've also sent all this information to my Beta. If you try anything, they will immediately make this public." "I wonder how many enemies Edward has who are waiting to see him fail?” "Quite a few." He had recovered from his surprise about the map. He remained nonchalant and kept that smile on his face constantly. It's annoying me. I can't tell if he's taking me seriously or not. "Edward, you have what you wanted. Take me back to my pack as we agreed. What happens next has nothing to do with me or my pack. Just as he was about to speak, his deep brown eyes suddenly turned dark red. A beam of light flashed. I knew this was him using his mind link. After only a moment, his brown eyes returned. He barked a laugh and covered his mouth with his hand. "That situation is about to change, my love." I frowned, not understanding what he meant. Until my phone vibrated. A message arrived from my beta, which I quickly opened. "Henry Cooper!" I grit my teeth as I shouted his name, unable to maintain my polite demeanour. Edward looked at me calmly and picked up his teacup. "I see you have received the news then. Henry has attacked the Swiftwood Pack he's right at your doorstep." He wasn't wrong. That bastard Henry is leading an attack on my pack! Damn it! We grew up together. How could he do such a thing? "My best guess is that Henry will take down Swiftfoot in about thirty minutes." He was looking down at his expensive watch. I grabbed on to my skirt tightly, my palms sweating. He was right. Henry could take down my pack easily. I hadn't considered it as an option. Henry will be despised by all werewolves for attacking my pack after his affair was exposed. How could he be so shameless? I forced myself to calm down. Although Edward was unreliable he was currently my best choice to save my pack.
