Chapter 1
"I can't believe you'd actually do this!" Carris cried as she watched her boyfriend standing in front of her, his head drooping.
"Now don't act as if you're feeling guilty, Eric, I knew what you were doing with Blair…" Carris turned her gaze away from him, a disgust perfectly protracted on her face.
"There are reasons, Carrie. And I don't think you'd listen to it, would you?" Eric asked, trying to catch her eyes.
"No. I wouldn't and I know you're lying, liar," She snorted and twiddled with the ring in her hand. "By the way, can you tell me what I should be doing with this?"
Carris removed the emerald ring in her hand and glared at Eric.
"Honey, what are you thinking?" Eric stuttered, tension filled his chocolate brown eyes.
"Don't pretend, Eric. It's all over now. I think it's time we should part ways happy and wishing each other a bright future. May you be happy with Blair."
"I need a serious and brief negotiation about this. You're not trying to understand me--"
"I think we had a lot of negotiation before in our lives. No more, Eric. Please," Carris widened her lips into a devilish grin and placed the ring on his palm.
"Goodbye, Eric Shalewood," She winked.
Eric remained silent and watched her exit his room. He gently shut his eyes while his family Myers slowly stroke the cold metal of the ring.
"Why don't you understand me, Carris Jonathan…" He sighed before resting his back against the wall.
His eyes scanned the big framed picture hung on the wall opposite to him. A picture of Carris and him during their high school prom. She was more cute in the picture than now she was and Eric was more boyish. They looked so cheerful together that many would claim their love to the perfect example. Unfortunate for Eric, it did last long for nine years but it wasn't perfect as everyone assumed it to be.
Carris would never try to understand him. She had unresolvable trust issues with him and he knows that she had gone through a lot of thorns before they met. He gulped and shook his head.
He produced his phone from the pocket of his pants and dialled a number. After a few rings, the receiver answered the call.
"Hey, Eric! How are things going?" A sweet female voice cooed at the end of the line.
"Jenny, I need help from you," He replied after clearing his throat.
"Tell me, Eric."
"First, can you please visit me at the local bar around your street?"
"Okay… sounds you're feeling low. What happened Eric?" Her tone became more soothing and concerned.
"I'm feeling low and I want to spend some time with you…"
"You can always count on me, Eric. I'm always here for you."
A tight knot developed in Eric's throat as he heard Jenny's concern for him. How he wished Carris would understand him like Jenny did.
"Don't feel bad or anything when I ask you this, it's a very personal request. It has conditions along with it. I know you can understand me better than anyone."
"Ofcourse, Eric."
After concluding their conversation into a 'take care' and 'bye', Eric flumped in his chair.
"You're right, Carris. I should move on. Now it has become my need," He told himself, gazing listlessly at the ceiling above him.
