The dance

1012 Words
The moment the Lycan prince saw me, he stood up and began to make his way towards me. I could feel all eyes on me, and my heart was pounding in my chest as he drew closer. As he approached, I could see that his eyes were fixed on me, and I couldn't help but feel self-conscious under his gaze. "Good evening, Astrid," he said, his voice low and smooth. "It's been a while since we last met." I felt a jolt of recognition shoot through me. "I'm sorry, but I don't think we've met before," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. He smiled, and I could feel my knees go weak. "Oh, but we have, my dear. Don't you remember me?" My heart skipped a beat as I realized what he was saying. He was the one that I had slept with, not Damien. How had I not recognized him before? And how had he managed to keep our encounter a secret all this time? Before I could say anything, the prince took my hand and pulled me onto the dance floor. The other werewolves looked on in fascination, their eyes fixed on us as we moved to the music. As we danced, I could feel the eyes of the other werewolves on us. Some of them looked jealous, while others looked intrigued. I could hear whispers and giggles, but I tried to ignore them, focusing instead on Aurelius. "I’d like to clarify something, Astrid," he said, his eyes fixed on mine. "I was too into it to even try to correct you the last time we met." Then he softly whispered into my ears. “My name was not Damien.” His lips kissed my ears lightly. “My name, you must not mistake again, is Aurelius Lockheart.” I tried to pull away, but he held me close, his grip firm and insistent. I could feel the heat radiating from his body, and the scent of his cologne filled my senses. It was intoxicating, and I found myself struggling to keep my thoughts clear. As we danced, I could feel his eyes on me, studying me as if he were trying to read my thoughts. I could sense that he knew more about me than he was letting on, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. I couldn't help but notice Damien staring at us from across the room. His facial expression was dark and distant, and I couldn't tell what he was feeling . Riley, on the other hand, seemed to be enjoying the spectacle, her eyes filled with amusement as she watched us dance. “Your feet are rather flexible, I could imagine how they sneaks you out of rooms after nights of one night stands.” He suddenly whispered. As soon as Aurelius mentioned how I had snuck out of his room in the morning and disappeared, I felt a blush creep up my cheeks. I couldn't believe he was bringing that up now, in front of all these people. I tried to stammer out an apology, but he cut me off with a laugh. "Don't worry, Astrid," he said, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "I wasn't too heartbroken. After all, I knew I'd see you again soon." I couldn't help but smile at his playful tone, even though I was still embarrassed. Aurelius had a way of putting me at ease, even in the most awkward situations. “How would you know?” “Easy, there are things werewolf could not hide.” Is he talking about scent? My scent? As the music started up again, Aurelius took my hand and led me out onto the dance floor. All eyes were on us as we began to move to the beat, Aurelius guiding me expertly through the steps. I could feel the heat of his body against mine, his hand warm in mine, and I found myself getting lost in the moment. "You're a natural," he murmured, his breath tickling my ear. "I knew you'd be a good dancer." I couldn't help but giggle at his teasing, feeling a surge of confidence. "Well, I did take some dance lessons when I was younger. Besides, I’m the one who’s dancing with the Lycan Prince, I need not embarrass myself." Aurelius grinned. "I could tell. The Lycan prince sound much more grand than the name Damien Silvester right?” I blushed, realizing that I had been caught staring at Damien. I caught sight of Damien in the corner of my eye, his expression dark and stormy. He looked like he wanted to march over and yank me away from Aurelius. What’s wrong with Damien today? As we danced, Aurelius and I bantered back and forth, teasing each other and laughing. I felt a spark of attraction between us, even though I knew it was dangerous territory. Something about him drew me in, his confidence and charisma a sharp contrast to Damien's brooding intensity. The song ended, Aurelius bowed gracefully. "Thank you for the dance." he said, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "I hope we can do it again sometime, maybe after your eighteen birthday." I smiled nervously, still unsure of what to make of the situation. As Aurelius made his way back to his group of werewolves, Damien stepped forward, his eyes fixed on me. "What was that all about?" he asked, his tone icy. "I...I don't know," I stammered, feeling guilty even though I hadn't done anything wrong. "You were dancing with him like you were the only two people in the room," he continued, his eyes burning with intensity. "Do you even know who he is?" "Aurelius," I replied, feeling shocked since I have never seen Damien this serious towards me. "And what does it matter? I can dance with whoever I want." Damien's expression softened slightly. "I just don't want you getting involved with someone like him," he said, his voice low. "He's dangerous, Astrid. And I don't want you to get hurt." As if he really cared about me.
