Chapter 10

The next morning I woke to, not the alarm clock, but a shrieking Calypso.

"Thea, Thea,Thea,THEA!!!" She squealed as she entered my room and jumped onto the bed.

"What?!"I snapped at my Luna, not in the mood to talk or apologize for my rudeness.

"Yeesh, what is the matter. It's your birthday !"She squealed . To be honest, I was hoping no one would remember, I was not in the mood.

But that made the whole situation worse,"Yeah, it's the one day of tears year that would have made my mood better, but to be honest, I have had the worst week of my life, the Ball killed my life. And all thanks to your mate!" I snapped, unaware of my own tone.

"Why is it James fault?!?" She growled feeling defenceless .

I balled my fits, "Caused he's the one who ordered me to go! And then I found him and -"I broke again, sobbing into the pillows again.

"Oh,Thea." She said and hugged me,"I'm so sorry he is a jackass."

"I shouldn't have gone there!" I groaned to the pillow, muffling my rant.

"What did he do?"

I looked at her, giving her a glare that spoke for me,'I don't want to talk about it.'

"Okay,then do you want me to tell my mom to cancel the party?"

"I thought since I-"

"I heard what happened. She is doing it to brighten you up and why put all her hard work to waste . "

I wiped my tears,"Wait a second, is he going to come here?"

"Castor's persistence and Jackass hates it. "

I nodded, "Okay, I'm going to the party. I'm no coward, and I won't sit here while my dignity is stepped on like a mat. "

Calypso smiled, "Okay. Oh and just a heads up, we are making him pay. " She said with a cheeky wink.

I smiled,"Oh, I love you."

She smirked and said,"Take a long,long bath, I'll be back with your dress and everything else."

She walked out, but it took me a few minutes to get up and go to the bathroom in the room. I turned the faucet on to hot and with my fingertips I felt the water till it was perfect. I found some bath bubbles and soon I felt myself relax a bit .

I lost track of time, but by one pm I looked like rain, I got out and pampered myself, putting lotion on myself, brushing my hair, doing things I would take for granted but right then and there, I needed it as a distraction. I walked out the bathroom which looked like a sauna and saw my room turned into a beauty salon . There was a row of dresses I've never seen in my life,my vanity that had every cosmopolitan dream tools and a stylist waiting on a stool filing her nails.

"Ready?" She asked.

I nodded,"Just don't go overboard."

"Compared to the other girls that will come, you'll look plain, but heartbreaking of course."

I sighed and put some clothes on so she could begin her magic. A few thousand picks to my eyebrows, a hundred bobby pins in my hair, tens of dressed and one waxed mustache and I looked like a princess from out of a fairy tale with Calypso as my blue haired fairy godmother . Calypso pulled the last pin out of my hair and let the strand fall into beautiful waves of brown. I looked at myself in the the full length mirror and my eyes popped out . The woman in front of me seemed like an angel, her face was barely touched by the makeup brush yet she looked like one of those models from a magazine with airbrushed faces. Her blue one strap dress brushed her knees and hugged her chest perfectly . Her baby blue heels made her stand three inches taller and even more striking.

"Woah." I said. I looked the same, but it was like a was sprinkled with pixie dust and I stopped self-deprecating myself. I swallowed.

"You're welcomed. " Calypso said and I hugged her tightly .

"Okay, okay,okay,I have to get ready, the party starts at seven and believe me, it's going to be epic. "

Calypso and I talked as she got ready, at the end, her blue hair was up into a ponytail and she wore a familiar black dress with her beautiful white heels.

We walked out the room just as the music blasted through the speakers and the house filled with voice. Calypso smiled and walked around the corner and hit the stairs like if it was nothing, yet I was nervous. I shook my head and walked around to see the entire living room filled with people, some notice me and smiled, but when a pair of topaz eyes found my brown one I was on the verge. I ignored the feeling and walked down the stairs and Jacklin greeted me.

"Happy Birthday, dear. " She said over the music,"I hope I didn't intrude. "

"No,"I smiled,"Thank you, the party looks incredible. "

"Thanks, and don't worry, no one knows about yesterday . "

I nod,"Okay."

After meeting half a dozen people we finally started to do some games. Some I ran away from.

Halfway through the party, I felt a hand on my side, getting my attention easily as I jumped slightly. I turned to face Shade, his eyes darker than usual, "Can we talk?" He asked and I grit my teeth.

"No." I muttered and tried to walk away but an annoying arm snaked around my waist - okay not that annoying, but it was certainly distracting.

"Thea please, let me explain. "

"I don't want to hear it,Caspian - or Shade, whatever the hell your name is,I have had enough. "

He sighed and dragged me to a less crowded part of,"Please. "He said and placed a hand on my waist.

I shuddered and pushed him away,"I am not speaking with you. It is my birthday, so space, time, dignity, is all I ask for. " I said and placed a hand on his chest, pushing him farther away so I could walk away.

It was at the strike of midnight when the people began to clear out, leaving a few people which included Matilda,Mason (Matilda's mate ), Ricky, Caesar, Kyle and his mate, Andy(Shade's Delta ), Calypso,James,Castor, Shade, Jacklin and three other pack members.

"Hey Thea, remember this song? "James asked as he put play to a song from the DJ booth.

I immediately recognized the song, "Hell no !"I said as the beat started to play.

"Please?" He asked and pouted .

"No, you look retarded, Alpha."

Calypso dragged me to the small stage,"Come on."

"No, I'm not even drunk enough to do it." I protested.

Jacklin laughed, "Come on dear, have some fun."

"No,I haven't sang in forever."

"Please. " The three of them said and I noticed the forming crowd, in it was a curious Shade.

I swallowed, "No!"

"Chicken. "Calypso muttered.

I groaned and snatched the mic from her,"I hate you all." I told them and the added,"You'll regret this." I growled but Calypso just winked, ignoring my threat.

Our eyes met and the lyrics bled my feelings. His blue eyes piercing me. I was suddenly cut off by Caspian as he jumped on stage and wrapped his arms around me, pulling our faces closer,brushing our lips together testing himself, but pressed them harder into a soft, lingering kiss.
