Lily's POV
The Weight of Reality
I did not want to know whoever it was that was by the door.
Matter of fact, I don't want to know the story of how my dad stole my mum from Beta Damon.
Somewhere within me, I know it's very possible for my dad to do something as cruel as that, but I just don't want to accept that.
The knock comes again.
“Lily?” The voice is softer this time.
I pull my knees closer to my chest.
If I stay quiet long enough, maybe whoever it is will leave.
Maybe everyone will leave.
My heart skips as I hear my name being called upon again, “Lily, open up.”
I know that voice. It's the woman from downstairs. A weird silence stretches between us.
Then she speaks again. “I know you heard us.”
