It had been a few hours and Carrie's labor was starting to pick up. I was relieved when Suzie checked her and said she was five centimeters. Only five to go! Carrie was starting to get a little sweaty with each contraction but was managing the pain well.  "Are you going to get an epidural?" I asked. Carrie shook her head.  "They don't work as well on us. They only do them if they have to. We burn off the drugs faster than humans. Besides, it might hurt but I will heal quickly." Carrie finished. I felt a weird jealousy at her statement. It wouldn't be like that for me. If I was pregnant, I would heal at a normal, human pace. On the other hand, I could probably have an epidural if I wanted one so maybe being human wasn't all bad.  Another hour went by and Carrie was definitely feeling her
