My eyes rapidly circled the room as if I were involved in some kind of set up.
Ava, you should have probably thought this through more..
'We are never gonna see daylight again' my wolf chimed.
Because I was not completely sure of how much my mother knew, I said nothing. Self-incrimination would only shoot me further down the hole.
"Come on now!" my mother spat, with agitation clear in her voice. I looked to Trina in worry as she followed us into the dining room.
"Are you sure you’re ready to see him again?" Trina whispered in my ear.
"Do I have much of a choice?" My heart sank to the pit of my stomach with the thought of seeing him again.
Now that my mother was present, there would be too much to lose in having another fit so I attempted to swallow down any negative emotions.
Sophie trembled inside of me and whimpered as we walked into the living room to see Alpha Troy, Luna Marta, Lyndon, my Father, and my brother Josh all comfortably seated in the living room.
Luna Marta was the first to get up, anger very well present in her voice.
“Are you going through some kind of mental break?”, she began softly, but I could only feel the venom laced in her voice, “Because only a mental patient would slap their Alpha and then ruin his, if I may add, very expensive car”
“Sweetie, I’m going to give you one chance to explain what possessed you to f**k up my son’s car..”, her voice raised as she raised her peak of anger, “..because I’m sure you know that unlike him, the car doesn’t magically heal..”
My brows furrowed and I looked from Lyndon to his mother. She doesn’t know.
A scoff almost left my lips as I rolled my eyes, of course.
If you didn’t already get the gist, telling the Luna and Alpha that their son just rejected me would be a disservice to both me and him.
For an alpha, rejecting your mate can lead to your title being revoked. For the rejected mate, i.e. me, they risk being kicked out of said Alphas pack.
I wasn’t sure if he avoided telling his parent’s that ounce of information on my behalf or his own, but I sure as hell wasn’t going to say anything so I had to make something up.
“Well?”, Lunas nose was practically touching mine, “Anything to say for yourself?”
In that moment, I came up with the most realistic excuse I could muster outside of the rejection.
“Lyndon cheated on me”, Luna’s face scrunched up at the news. If you didn’t concur yet, I am a horrible liar.
Unfortunately, the most I could come up with was something that wasn’t fully a lie.
“Yeah, Lyndon and I went out for-um..”, I trailed as Lunas eyes narrowed in disbelief.
“-6 months” Lyndon chimed in as he sat up in his chair.
We locked eyes as we continued to add fake news onto our fabricated story, “-Yes, 6 months....and last night, I found out that he cheated on me”
“Oh yeah?” Luna spoke suspiciously.
Lyndon and I simultaneously nodded, “So Lyndon why didn’t you say this when I asked you what happened?”
Lyndon looked down then back to his mother, “I was embarrassed. I didn’t want you to think low of me”
I rolled my eyes and scoffed causing Luna to snap back towards me. I immediately straightened up my face.
The room fell silent with awkwardness as the adults attempted to think of the next thing to say.
I assumed that Josh and Trina had nothing to say, as they too knew the consequences of rejection.
Lyndon and I once again locked eyes and I didn’t find an ounce of remorse in his.
Figures. Just here to save your own ass, Lying was not exactly my forte and it disgusted me that in helping myself, I had to help this asshole too.
It also annoyed me that between what really happened and the fake story, I was the unhinged b***h acting out from humiliation in both.
“Well you know that you’ll have to pay right?”, It was now Alpha Young’s turn to chime in, “...For the damages”
I looked to my mother with pleading eyes as she stared back with no remorse.
“Most likes a 9-5 won’t cover it so your parents and I have come up with something”, The sudden feeling of gory came back into my mind as I knew I wasn’t going to like his next words.
“Starting tomorrow, you, along with the maids, are going to clean our home on the weekends-“ I scoffed in disbelief and my mother shoved me as she whispered, be respectful
“-Your parents have already agreed”, he spoke ignoring my disdain, “Beginning tomorrow, we’ll be seeing a lot more of you Avalon Winters”
