Chapter Six
~April 4~
This evening should be so much easier than other social occasions, Margaret told herself as she got dressed to attend Lady Blakemore’s musicale. It was going to be a smaller gathering, not an enormous ball or even a large soiree. The duchess had assured her that there wouldn’t be above forty or fifty people in attendance, probably closer to thirty. It would be much easier to manage.
Margaret dressed in one of her pretty evening gowns designed by Tina the previous year. It was simple and elegant with very few ribbons or flounces. She liked Tina’s designs so very much. They made her feel happy and even gave her a touch more confidence than she would otherwise have.
Picking up her fan, reticule, and gloves, she made her way downstairs to await the duchess.
