Chapter 37: Handy Work*

1672 Words
“And here we are Priscilla!” James said as he opened the door to a large flat in the Blackwoods complex. James normally loved been Kurt’s second in command, but today it sucked. Today, he had to deal with Priscilla Marsh. James had desperately tried to wiggle his way out of it, but Kurt was firm. Kurt wanted this situation dealt with exactly the way Gang Law specified and that included taking care of Priscilla’s needs. “I think there has been some sort of mistake!” Priscilla said pouting. “Mistake? Is this not to your liking?” James said confused as he looked around the luxury apartment.” It is most people’s dream home!” James thought annoyed. “I thought I was going to be living with the Twins! After all, they lived with that Sea Gang Slut! I don’t even know why I am talking to you! Why are the King and Queen not here to personally welcome me to the family? I am, after all, carry the Queen’s brother’s baby! This disrespect will be reported to the Syndicate!” Priscilla said outraged. James internally growled, whilst keeping a poker face. James fully understood now why Alannah had not to show Priscilla her new accommodation. Alannah would have lost her temper with the spoilt brat! “You of course are within your rights to report any concerns to the Syndicate. However, I can assure you the King and Queen have broken no laws, in fact, they have been extremely generous!” James said formally. “Like your assurances mean anything! Don’t you know who I am going to be? I am going to be the next Canadian Queen and will be treated as such!” Priscilla hissed. “And once the title has been formalised, then, of course, all privileges will be granted. Until then, please accept the humble hospitality of the British King and Queen. There is a phone in every room that links directly to housekeeping, please contact them if you need anything. Now if you excuse me, I have a meeting to attend!” James said formally with a bow. “What, you are not helping me unpack?” Priscilla said outraged. “I am sorry, but as second in command of the British syndicate, I am afraid I have more pressing matters,” James said as he walked out of the flat. He took a deep breath and made a mental note to double, maybe even triple the pay of housekeeping staff. James had a feeling that they were going to earn every single penny. Meanwhile, two floors above the escaping James, a meeting was happening. Kurt, Alannah and the Twins were sat around a table talking to the head of the Shadow Weaver, Erin Anderson, on a laptop. Erin Anderson was the head of the Gang’s spy organisation, The Gods Eye. Erin also was the leading authority on Gang Law. “Is there anything that can be done?” Alannah asked Erin. “Well, the good news is that you have evidence that the Twins were drugged. The bad news is, you can't prove it was a member of the Marsh Harriers.” “Who else would it be?” Ethan grumped. The Twins had constantly denied the baby was theirs in between nursing their heartbreak. Alannah was worried about them. They hardly ate, drunk too much and were isolating themselves. They were constantly asking about Bee, but Alannah knew it was unlikely Bee would ever take them back if they had a baby with another woman. Even if Bee was prepared to be their mistress, the Sea Syndicate would never allow it. “That is not the point, without proof the accusation can not go anywhere,” Erin said. “Great! We are going to have to marry the b***h, aren't we?” Aiden said in a defeated tone. “Only, if the baby is yours! If I were you, I would wait until the baby is born and do a DNA test straight away. That child is the only hold she has over you!” Erin said practically. “If the baby is not ours, we still might have a chance with Bee!” Ethan said. It was the last shred of hope he had and he was determined to hold on to it, no matter what! “Bee? You mean no by Clearwater, the Siren?” Erin asked. “Yes, Erin. The Twins were officially courting her before this business started” Kurt said. “Oh, that makes sense now!” Erin said. “What does Erin?” Alannah asked, she knew that look of Erin’s and it was more than likely Erin had heard something. “Have you not heard? The ship she was on capsized when it was caught in a hurricane, ” Erin said. “What? Is Bee Ok?” Ethan shouted, whilst Aiden remained deadly quiet. “They managed to get to safety, but there was at least one death and several causalities!” Erin said. “Who died?” Aiden asked quietly.  “I am afraid I don't know. I do know however, the Mad Dogs are flying At speed of light to Cuba!” Erin said. “Thank you, Erin, it makes sense why I have not been able to talk to Dad,” Alannah said. “My pleasure, now do you mind if I have a word with just you and Kurt?” Erin asked. The Twins normally would have been curious, but they had somewhere to go urgently. They said their farewells and left the room. “What is it, Erin?” Kurt asked. “I had more reports of Sea Gang members been kidnapped and sold. The Sea Gangs are naturally getting restless and we are on the brink of war!” Erin reported. “Thank you, we are aware of this,” Kurt said. “Good! Be careful with the Marsh Harriers, they are nasty and up to something!” Erin warned before signing off. “I hope Bee is OK,” Kurt said softly. “Let’s hope so,” Alannah said. She had a really bad feeling about all this. Meanwhile, down in the Grey Seal’s warehouse, Jack sighed as he looked over the recording of the meeting he had with Bee. Something was seriously wrong and Jack knew Bee was up to something. Those eyes were as hard as stone...something Jack had never seen. “Come on, come on! There must be something!” Jack said to himself as he watched the meeting again. Suddenly, Jack heard a commotion in the normally calm warehouse. “How dare you come here?” Jack heard Laim roar. “Be careful how you address us, you would not like it when we are angry!” A familiar voice said.  Jack sighed and had just mentally prepared himself as the door burst open. As expected Aiden and Ethan walked in, with a furious Liam in tow. “I apologies Jack, these idiots would not take no for an answer!” Liam said glaring at the Twins. “It is OK Laim, leave us now,” Jack ordered. “Are you sure?” Liam asked uncertainly. Jack nodded and Liam said, “I will be right outside, call me if you need anything!” Liam departed and shut the for behind him. “Jack!” Ethan greeted. “Aiden, Ethan. Excuse me for not getting up, I have a bad back you know. Now, what can I do for you gentleman? Do you need something shipped? I am afraid there is a new pricing plan in place!” Jack said sarcastically. “We don't want anything shipped!” Aiden said, trying to control his temper. “Oh? Then I am afraid I cannot help you!” Jack said. “Stop playing games Jack. We need to know if Bee is OK!” Ethan said. “And pray, why do you care?” Jack said coldly. Aiden banged his fists down on the desk and said “ Look here, Jack. Tell us or..” “Or what?” Jack said with raised eyebrows. The twins said nothing and Jack continued, “ As I thought, you can do nothing! But, I am feeling in a generous mood, so here!” Jack turned his laptop screen around and showed a frozen screen of Bee. “She is alive!” Ethan said as relief flooded through him. “But brother, look at her!” Aiden said. “Yes, please do! Have a good look at your handy work boys, because you must be so proud! See how pale she is? How about how thin Bee is from the lack of eating, proud of that are we? Please tell me what you think about her eyes? Look, how cold they are!” Jack snapped. The Twins took a good look at the picture and saw how there was no warmth in Bee’s eye. She looked broken and hopeless. “We will fix this Jack, you know we love Bee!” Ethan said softly. Jack scoffed and said, “I am afraid I think it is too late!” “What do you mean?” Aiden said. “Meaning, I think all the Land Gangs are going to find out how sharp our Siren’s teeth are!” Jack warned. On the other side of the World, Bee stretched herself before walking up to the guardhouse. It had been a long flight and she knew she probably did not look her best, but she didn't care. “Excuse me?” Bee said to the guard. “What do you want?” The guard said suspiciously. Bee smiled and said “I am here to see Akihiko and Zoe Nagato. Tell them the Siren wants to cash in the favour they owe her!”
