Chapter 31: Sea and Sun*

2232 Words
One week later - Bee’s Cabin. “Hold....it...hold it Sam!” Bee ordered as she tried to replace a lightbulb in her room. What would normally be an easy task on land, was very tricky at sea. Ladders and waves were never a good combination! “I am holding it, Bee! You know you can trust me, as I am not a land lover you know!” Sam declared. It was after their night shift and they were both tired. Bee smiled and thought “You most certainly are not!” Bee and Sam had become very close over the last week. Bee and Sam had spent all their meals, duties and spare time together. Bee knew she was blessed to have found such a good friend in Sam. They had the same music and film tastes, hobbies, sense of humour and most importantly they both loved the sea. “Is he just a friend?” A small voice in the back of her mind asked. People had noticed how close they had gotten and the approved, for the most part. When she was getting some hot tea, she overhead two sailors. “It is time our Siren found a proper Sea Gang Man!” One man had commented. “Aye! Still can't believe what those two butter balls did! Are they blind!” The other said angrily. “No matter now! Her sails are tipped in the right direction now!” The first man said approvingly. Bee smiled as she tried to unscrew the old lightbulb, it was rusted in tight! The salty air always made things rust so much quicker. “Do you want me to have a go?” Sam offered. “No, I think I have got it!” Bee said just as the light bulb smashed and shards of glass cut her hand. “Bloody Hell!” she cursed as blood started to drip down. “Bee! Come down, so I dress your hand! Sam ordered and as soon as Bee’s feet were on the floor he rushed to get the first aid kit. “It is fine, please don't fuss!” Bee said embarrassed. “Stop being silly Bee and take a seat!” Sam ordered and Bee did as she was told for once.  “Right, open your hand now!” Sam ordered again and Bee let him examine her hand. Sam then gently picked out the bits of glass with a pair of tweezers  “Hey, you are pretty good at this!” Bee commented, as Sam expertly dressed her hand. “I should be, I was training to be a Doctor! There you go Siren, all you is needed is one more thing!” Sam said. “And what’s that?” Bee asked confused, still shocked at what Sam said. “This!” Sam said and much to Bee’s surprise he bent down and gently kissed Bee’s hand. “A kiss makes everything better, wouldn't you agree Siren?” “Sam!” Bee said getting up. She was used to Sam’s flirty ways by now and thought he was only joking. Sam did not let her pass, instead, he backed her to the wall and put an arm on either side of her on the wall, trapping her. Bee was not sure she wanted to escape from him! Bee breathing quickened as her body became aware of how close Sam’s body was. Sam smelt so divine to Bee, like the sea and sunshine. Sam’s eyes were gazing at her intensely like Bee was the most beautiful thing in the world to him. Sam started to lean in. “Sam! I...I can’t give you what you want! My..my heart is still so broken!” Bee whispered as Sam leaned in for a kiss. “Then let me help mend your broken heart, my Siren!” Sam whispered back before his lips gently touched Bees.  Bee could not help it, her body responded and she started to kiss him back. Sensing that Bee was reciprocating, he titled his head and teased Bee’s lips gently with his tongue.  Bee yielded quickly and Sam gently slipped his tongue into her mouth. Bee moaned as he began to tease her tongue and instinctively put her arms around his neck. Sam started to comb his hands through her hair making Bee moan.  Sam broke the kiss and said in a husky voice “Bee, do you have any idea how incredible you are?” “No, but why don't you show me?” Bee said blushing. “Now, who is being brazen?” Sam said with a smirk.  Bee was about to answer when she heard the announcement over the speaker system: “Bonny Clearwater, that is Bonny Clearwater, could you please come to the Captain’s office immediately!” Bee rolled her eyes and groaned. “Talk about bad timing!” Bee thought. “Don’t worry my little Bee, I will be here when you get back!” Sam said with a smirk. “You better be!” Bee grumbled as she made her way to the Captian’s office. Captain Garson’s Office, On the Ship Honesty. “Now look here Garson, you need to turn that boat around and bring her back now!” Kurt ordered from the Laptop screen on Captain Garson’s desk. Garson sighed, it was too early for such a meeting and he had not nearly had enough to drink to cope with this call. “Captain!” Garson snapped. “What?” Kurt asked confused. “It is Captain Garson which means, respectfully, I do not fall under your jurisdiction. I fall under the Siren’s and she has ordered me to continue this journey. So, that is what I am doing!” Garson said firmly. “If it is a matter of money..” Kurt began to say.  The truth was things were getting beyond tense at home. The Sea Gangs were beyond furious, as predicted. They had not only shut their ports to British Syndicate Trade, but they had also slapped on a 10% tax on all Land Syndicates.  This was on top of home begin an emotional packet of shite! The Twins had turned into hermits and not left their flat in a couple of weeks. Alannah was constantly anxious and upset about everything. This was unusual for his wife, who was normally laid back and confident. Frank had returned to Cornwall, with Theo, to try and smooth things over. But Rosemary and Leonid had declared that the courtship was well and truly over. They had not declared war on the British Syndicate….yet. Things were a complete clusterfuck and there was only one person who could sort it out. However, Bee had ignored the numerous emails and Skype calls everyone was making. It was clear that she was in no mood to talk, and quite frankly Kurt did not blame her. “Money?! It has nothing to do with money! I want to keep my head attached firmly to my shoulders!” Garson said thinking about what Bee had done.  A sailor had unwisely tried to fumble when she was eating her breakfast. As quick as a flash Bee had stabbed a knife through his hand and the dining table. Bee had warned the sailor that next time it would be his Bollocks and d**k. That is if she could find them. The knife was buried so deep into the table, the sailor had to beg Hitchens to pull it out. “What if I offered you protection?” Kurt asked. He already knew the answer to the question, but he had to try! Garson scoffed and said, “I won’t be a traitor and I will not be turning this ship around until I am ordered by someone in my gang or the Siren herself!” “Well then, you are just going to have to get the Siren then aren’t you? It is either that or I will personally ensure you will never set foot on dry land again!” Kurt said menacingly. Garson knew by the look in Kurt’s eyes that this was no empty threat. With a sigh, he pressed a button on the tannoy and said: “Bonny Clearwater, that is Bonny Clearwater, could you please come to the Captain’s office immediately!” “See that was not hard, was it?” Kurt said and Garson sighed. He felt it was going to be a very long morning. Ten minutes later, Bee knocked on the Captain's door. Technically, she outranked the Captain but it always paid to be respectful. “Come in!” Garson said grumpily. Bee came in and noticed Garson already had poured himself a large glass of rum and one for her as well. “A bit early don’t you think Captain?” Bee said tiredly. “Huh! You won’t think so in a minute!” Garson said as he indicated for her to sit down. Bee did and Garson turned the laptop around. Bee’s face fell as she saw who was on the screen. “Ah, Bee there you are! How are you?” Kurt said with false cheerfulness. “How do you think? Now, what is it you want?” Bee snapped. “Stupid question I suppose. Look, Bee, I will be honest with you..” Kurt began to say. “Well, that will be a novelty for a Land Gang Member, won't it?” Bee retorted making Garson choke on his rum. Kurt sighed, he knew this was not going to be easy. It was clear that Bee was still extremely upset and angry, even after four weeks. “Both Sea and Land Gang members are extremely worried about you! Frank is beside himself and..” Kurt said “Don’t you dare use family against me, Kurt! Do you think I wanted this? Do you think I wanted to have my heart broken by those two?” Bee shouted. “Bee, I had my share of heartbreak and I know how it feels!” Kurt pointed out .“Oh really? I was unaware that Grace Lang was in a s*x tape with two other guys and it was sent to you and everyone you knew! Tell me, Kurt, how did it feel watching the person you once loved kiss and say they love someone else? Especially when I gave them everything! Come on Kurt, I am all ears!” Bee said shouting. “God Dam it! They thought it was you, Bee! They were drugged!” Kurt shouted back. Kurt suddenly realised what Bee meant by everything and cursed silently.  “Why would I believe you?” Bee snapped. She had not fully processed the new information, she was far too angry. “Because I have never lied to you, Bee!” Kurt said gently. “I don’t care! It is over now, the courtship has probably been called off by my Grandparents. So, what is it you want Kurt because I am very busy!” Bee asked. She had stopped shouting and was trying to calm herself. “Come back, Bee! Let’s sit around the table and talk this out!” Kurt said. Bee did something no one expected, Bee burst out into a fit of laughter before saying “So, the Sea Gangs are causing you issues are they? Is that why you called, so I could smooth things over for you?”  “No..that is not ..” Kurt said quickly concerned Bee was misconstruing things. “Good! I am glad they are causing you issues and I hope they bankrupt your precious Syndicate! I hope war breaks out between the Land Gangs and you consume yourself in the fire of destruction!” Bee said in a tone as hard as ice. “I meant with you and the Twins. I know you still feel something for them!” Kurt snapped. “Feel something? Oh, aye, I feel something! Hate, anger and loathing!” Bee retorted. “You don’t mean that!” Kurt replied. “Oh, but I do!” Bee replied with such venom that it surprised even Kurt!” “Bee, don’t do anything that you will regret! The Twins love you, I know they do!” Kurt said. “You are not listening, I don’t care! It.Is.Over! But, be warned Kurt, if you keep pushing me, you will find out that this Siren has teeth!” Bee warned as she glared at him.  “Bee!” Kurt said as Bee ended the call. There was a moment of silence before Bee said “I think I will have that drink now Garson!” Bee walked back to her cabin and sighed as she saw Sam had fallen asleep on her bed. Bee got ready for bed and curled up next to him as she arranged a blanket on them both.  Bee snuggled down and murmured “Sea and sunshine” as she felt Sam pull her closer to him. Bee sighed and fell happily asleep.
